Yeah, and yet no one plays it because it's arguably harder than fallen because there's a boss on wave 7 with regeneration and if you beat that, they spawn that exact same boss almost every other wave after the boss, and 10 less waves before the boss, giving you less time to prepare

I as one of the people who played from 2019 - 2020 before a short hiatus during hardcore. I LOVED this mode, everything about the boss, style, and balancing of the mode. It was set perfectly between molten and Fallen, and was always my go to mode. It had the perfect amount of coins and exp for grinding, while not being too stressful. Back when Commando was busted, I would farm it daily with John, Outlaws and Commander spam. The price change during 2020 was a pretty huge issue for most, but I never really ran into that many problems with it. I really wish it would make a comeback somehow, as lots of people along side me enjoyed this mode. Like everything else in TDS currently, it just needs a couple rebalances and it’ll be good as new. Hell, they could even make a new start with it. As they mentioned the several bugs with Gold Titan’s animations. As long as we get those shiny boys back, I will happy. Though I fear it won’t ever happen due to gilded path solidifying it’s death.
If Golden mode ever gets put back into tds I think they should add enemies that are based on the golden skins. For an example, the golden scout would shoot 2 towers and stun them as an ability. Or they could have golden pyromancer be able to burn towers around him which would temporarily make the towers have a firerate penalty or something. Things like these would be cool things to see in golden mode. Great video tho.

As an og I remember when me and my friends would grind on golden mode when fallen use to be “impossible”, times have certainly change.(also they robbed us of the platinum skins)
i miss Golden Titan, Chained Bosses, and 24 Karats. If you go onto gilded path map in current time you will see Goldens and Golden Titans dead across the track.
If Golden mode returns, I think it would be more likely to come back as one of the special modes. For example, Pizza Party and Polluted Wasteland 2 Golden mode returning as a special mode will either counter its flaws or completely make it disappear. It could have unique enemies like a polluted wasteland, or it could be like Pizza Party and Badlands 2, which still have most of the enemies but the atmosphere and the enemies that come from the map outshining. As far as I know, there haven’t been any arguments or even drama around Pizza Party or Badlands about the enemies being similar to fallen enemies. Another changing Golden mode to a special mode will just make the problem of Golden mode not being necessary between Molten and Fallen.
You know badlands, pw2 and pizza party needs only one map to play them while golden mode should be available for every map so nah, it should stick with the difficulty menu
as someone who joined in tds 2019 I can say that golden mode was at its PEAK during area 51 when everyone hopped into mega elevators and waited a long time to reach the final waves since below keeps adding more waves for some reason, after the mega update a lot had changed since commando got nerfed, many new stuff and old stuff gone, but you had a new gamemode that would eventually replace golden mode soon. fallen mode I believe changed the way people played the game since it was locked at 40 waves and people had a reason to prefer fallen over golden mode soon. I'm not sure if golden mode would return but I predict that fallen mode would be replaced like golden mode soon. used to be called insane mode but you know what I mean

Ive been playing tds since 2019 and I want to put my own opinion in this, Golden mode in my opinion around the spring update was actually harder than fallen due to having less money while having the same amount of shield enemies which was a actual decent roadblock in golden due to less money a swell as explosive towers not being really wanted to be used due to gold being explosive resistant so they were actually the hardest part of the game mode if someone didn't have military base or just a lot of mini's cause most people just used ranger around the time templar came out.

I believe that ez mode should be deleted, while golden mode returns like literally nobody plays ez mode unless they're a beginner or want the medal But yes golden towers need rebalancing, and i agree with SmellyGamerChair, golden towers in golden mode as enemies would be cool

Only the Golden mone, master of all grinding strategies, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new game mode, a game mode named intermidiate. And although his grindinf potential is great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to become the new meta. But I believe intermidiate can save the world.
Its a shame , because not only is the design of the golden boss a super cool design I just love, but I struggle a lot with fallen but find molten mode too easy. They could've reworked it a lot instead of outright removing it. Edit: Heck yeah, intermediate!!!! Now I can enjoy the game in peace =)
as someone who isnt a dev for a tower defense game but have watched games 10x more complex than tds get weekly updates im going to guess that the devs are lasy or its spaghetti code

makes perfect sense due to the fact that fallens kept getting explosion immunity added and removed and think thats the "balancing nightmare" goldens could make a comeback in chaos mode due to the fact that the main gimmick was that there was tons of enemies at once and explosion immunity would make a cool immunity
The thing that annoys me so much is that molten is so easy, solo, duo, whatever, but if you just wanna do something a little more difficult and rewarding, the enemies are straight up 2x faster, 1.5x health and the boss being super fast and having OP abilities...

I remember this topic before. Every time I bring it up only and barely 25% of people said that Golden mode (Or let shorten it by GM) had a purpose and the 75% said that golden mode was useless. Like in modern day TDS, yes, it’s useless but that was when GM still existed.

Honestly normal mode deserves to stay in the game as its kinda the main theme of tds, because tds is about zombie apocalypse and normal is based on normally typed zombies, not magical or fantasy zombies, just zombies. Gravedigger is the zombie summoner which fits in so i believe that normal should stay but get rebalanced into changing some wave structures and buffing wave income

Little correction: Fallen Mode would actually be the one overrated, Golden mode was added back then in Premega TDS/Area51 era of TDS, which in the time, fallen mode did not exist. There were alot of enemies recycled from Golden mode to Fallen mode when fallen mode was released, so Golden mode is the origin of these enemies. Edit: Also, at the time of 2020/Egg Hunt, Golden mode was actually harder than fallen mode due to many reasons: * Yes, you said there are a lot of interconnected enemies between fallen and golden, but in golden you get smaller wave bonus. * Golden enemy was actually harder than fallen enemy, despite fallen being faster, explosives at the time would be atleast 1 or 2 in every loadout (shield enemies were too op at the time) and golden enemies were immune to explosions. Also, there’s not a much difference in the health and speed. * Golden Titan had 3 abilities of stunning and only 1 ability of summoning, meaning that he was the most stun abuser in the game and decent towers would atleast take alot of time to take ‘em down. Though the fact that Golden Titan was also immune to explosions, this made him a little bit harder than Fallen King. (Correct me if I’m wrong in anything.)

Gold Titan received a new model in the map because the old model looks pretty bad by modern standards, and the creator of the map (Who I believe is Adversary), most likely wanted to remodel Gold Titan to both fit with the new gold material and overall look nicer.
in the old times it was also not normal mode, not molten mode neither fallen mode and rather was Beginner mode, Hard mode, Insane mode, Impossible mode.
Honestly the overhaul update made me take a massive break from the game and when I came back I only stayed for about a month and a half. The removal of golden mode contributed to me leaving the game. The new and improved version was not fun for me either. I literally just got my first golden tower (golden cowboy) just for it to be nerfed and in my eyes trash compared to the old one. I also liked using pursuit.Commodo nerf was bad too
btw fallen copied golden. they were both released in the mega update but the golden enemies were in the game first so i believe that fallen took the concept of golden but with more unique enemies
Well it true that people don’t do normal mode that much. But I if the developers are going to keep it. Then maybe they should make it a bit easier then molten mode. Or they should buff molten mode a bit so it can be a little challenging then normal mode. But it would be cool if they add back golden mode.
tds needs more things that make you use different types of towers. the second accel was added, all the balance went away and the game turned into a progression game.
Here is a theory: golden mode will get a rerun with it coming back because gilded path has the gold enemy’s so they will come back in a event like something called “sweet sweet golden revenge”

I think all the modes should stay, there is 0 reason to delete something from the game, even if it has flaws its better than nothing. also I restarted playing this game like a couple months ago, and I wasn't able to beat fallen solo consistently until recently when I got accel. I was able to beat it once with minigun and ranger, but I tried that again and I noticed its not just place the towers and win, you need to use abilities correctly and take advantage of targeting. people say that golden would be too easy because of accel, but you are thinking of it like if It was the hardest gamemode, its supposed to be behind fallen in difficulty, a point where you don't have accel, so its meant for beginners that have beaten molten before and want a harder challenge. plus, you aren't forced to bring accel, you are the one choosing to bring it, so you can't say that fallen mode is easy when you bring the one tower that has the highest DPS in the game

Itd be the comeback of the century if someone found his core, puts it in him, and then he helps us as a tower. This tower would be a global 1 per player, and it’d have golden titans abilities. Golden fist: ability that rains punches all around the map, which is good for crowd control. Deals 5k damage per punch, 2 minute and 30 second cooldown. Summoning guards: summons 4 gold guards, 6K hp each, 45s CD. Sword plunge: stuns everything for 5 seconds, including bosses, and deals 14k damage, and 7% boss max HP. 1 minute CD, if a boss is stunned by it, 1 minute and 30 second CD. Sword empower: rises his sword in the air, and a golden aura radiates around it. This makes every tower do 25% more damage for 15 seconds. 2 minute and 30 second cooldown. Why did I make this

Golden mode made progression just right but now its like "molten pretty easy, now lets try fallen" and the boss just has like 2x the health
the powercreep of tds makes golden mode useless
Fallen mode is literally boomer spam and the waves are still hard but fallen in the old days was actually really hard because accel wasn’t there
Not to mention the bonkers speed increase, the Fallen King is pretty much the fastest boss in the game

The thing that annoys me so much is that molten is so easy, solo, duo, whatever, but if you just wanna do something a little more difficult and rewarding, the enemies are straight up 2x faster, 1.5x health and the boss being super fast and having OP abilities...

I remember this topic before. Every time I bring it up only and barely 25% of people said that Golden mode (Or let shorten it by GM) had a purpose and the 75% said that golden mode was useless. Like in modern day TDS, yes, it’s useless but that was when GM still existed.

Honestly normal mode deserves to stay in the game as its kinda the main theme of tds, because tds is about zombie apocalypse and normal is based on normally typed zombies, not magical or fantasy zombies, just zombies. Gravedigger is the zombie summoner which fits in so i believe that normal should stay but get rebalanced into changing some wave structures and buffing wave income

I think it would be cool if golden was a special game mode, similar to PW2, Badlands 2 and pizza party. They could prob just reuse gilded path but without the dead golden titan to show his revival
Also here’s some enemy concepts
Abnormal become Au, goofy gold enemy with a missing arm
Quick become Lightweight, smaller than Au but otherwise the same
Heavy become 14 karat, stronger than heavy but also slower and has valk helm
Abnormal boss become 18 karat, a bit less hp than mutated boss but also somewhat fast and has fedora
Shadow become iron, pretty much the same but also freeze immune
Breakers will remain the same but with a golden color pallet
Necromancer become golden miner, digs up gold deposit with a pickaxe
Gold deposit replace skeleton, basically just stronger
Fallen become quicksilver, runs really fast and explodes on death, stunning towers but also instantly killing any quicksilvers in the blast radius
Giant boss becomes 24 karat, big gold enemy with top hat
Shadow boss becomes iron sword, slightly slower and weaker than shadow boss but can stun towers
Glitch becomes pyrite, faster but also a bit weaker
Hazard becomes jackhammer, once his shield is destroyed the jackhammer disappears and until it disappears he constantly spawns 14 karats
Tank becomes trophy, has 15k hp and moves fast, also has flying until his 1k shield is destroyed, after which he falls to the ground
Breaker boss is the same as previous breakers
Error becomes fool’s gold, he has no shield but moves extremely fast and spawns a pyrite from the entrance upon death
Necromancer boss becomes platinum miner, digs up titanium crystals with his pickaxe
Titanium crystal replaces cursed skeleton, has more shield the more of them are on the path
Fallen hero becomes gilded geode, faster but has no defense
Fallen guardian becomes golden mantle, stuns towers with a golden sword and moves a bit quickly
And finally fallen king becomes golden titan, has more hp (maybe 400k or smth) and stuns towers with his sword. At 200k he will rage, spawning 3 golden mantles and debuffing all towers fire rate by 50% for 5 seconds
Additionally every enemy has immunity to splash damage, they still take damage from splash towers if they’re the direct target tho
I remember playing back in the day when golden was still around and after I joined tds a few weeks after not playing it for years I felt like something was missing and now I remember what it was 😔
Little correction: Fallen Mode would actually be the one overrated, Golden mode was added back then in Premega TDS/Area51 era of TDS, which in the time, fallen mode did not exist. There were alot of enemies recycled from Golden mode to Fallen mode when fallen mode was released, so Golden mode is the origin of these enemies.
Edit: Also, at the time of 2020/Egg Hunt, Golden mode was actually harder than fallen mode due to many reasons:
* Yes, you said there are a lot of interconnected enemies between fallen and golden, but in golden you get smaller wave bonus.
* Golden enemy was actually harder than fallen enemy, despite fallen being faster, explosives at the time would be atleast 1 or 2 in every loadout (shield enemies were too op at the time) and golden enemies were immune to explosions. Also, there’s not a much difference in the health and speed.
* Golden Titan had 3 abilities of stunning and only 1 ability of summoning, meaning that he was the most stun abuser in the game and decent towers would atleast take alot of time to take ‘em down. Though the fact that Golden Titan was also immune to explosions, this made him a little bit harder than Fallen King.

Gold Titan received a new model in the map because the old model looks pretty bad by modern standards, and the creator of the map (Who I believe is Adversary), most likely wanted to remodel Gold Titan to both fit with the new gold material and overall look nicer.
in the old times it was also not normal mode, not molten mode neither fallen mode and rather was Beginner mode, Hard mode, Insane mode, Impossible mode.

Honestly the overhaul update made me take a massive break from the game and when I came back I only stayed for about a month and a half. The removal of golden mode contributed to me leaving the game. The new and improved version was not fun for me either. I literally just got my first golden tower (golden cowboy) just for it to be nerfed and in my eyes trash compared to the old one. I also liked using pursuit.Commodo nerf was bad too

btw fallen copied golden. they were both released in the mega update but the golden enemies were in the game first so i believe that fallen took the concept of golden but with more unique enemies
they made fallen waveset first and golden enemies were made for wave 50-60 and had nothing to do with waveset or anything

they changed golden into intermediate mode but the boss will spawn at wave 30
tds needs more things that make you use different types of towers. the second accel was added, all the balance went away and the game turned into a progression game.

They really dropped the ball by not naming the Final Boss “Midas” or “King Midas” or any other form of Midas. I mean, when you think of things turned to gold, y’all can’t tell me that Midas DOESN’T pop up in your head first

golden mode should come back similarly to hardcore now, like for people above lvl 150 like an extremely difficult mode that can feature golden and lead enemies it would be a great adition and maybe that golden titan can now be somethin like "Awakened Golden titan" with like 3M health on a 50 wave mode made for very experienced people, lets be real whats the point of leveling up past 100 now.. there is nothing new to see or to grind for..

I think all the modes should stay, there is 0 reason to delete something from the game, even if it has flaws its better than nothing. also I restarted playing this game like a couple months ago, and I wasn't able to beat fallen solo consistently until recently when I got accel. I was able to beat it once with minigun and ranger, but I tried that again and I noticed its not just place the towers and win, you need to use abilities correctly and take advantage of targeting.
people say that golden would be too easy because of accel, but you are thinking of it like if It was the hardest gamemode, its supposed to be behind fallen in difficulty, a point where you don't have accel, so its meant for beginners that have beaten molten before and want a harder challenge. plus, you aren't forced to bring accel, you are the one choosing to bring it, so you can't say that fallen mode is easy when you bring the one tower that has the highest DPS in the game

3:39 actually thats not true. Fallen was after golden mode as seen in old tds. Golden was hard mode basically. So the enemies must have not been recycled but some were added when fallen mode was added.

I remember I was seeing golden mode but I wasn’t played it because I was new.
Itd be the comeback of the century if someone found his core, puts it in him, and then he helps us as a tower. This tower would be a global 1 per player, and it’d have golden titans abilities.
Golden fist: ability that rains punches all around the map, which is good for crowd control. Deals 5k damage per punch, 2 minute and 30 second cooldown.
Summoning guards: summons 4 gold guards, 6K hp each, 45s CD.
Sword plunge: stuns everything for 5 seconds, including bosses, and deals 14k damage, and 7% boss max HP. 1 minute CD, if a boss is stunned by it, 1 minute and 30 second CD.
Sword empower: rises his sword in the air, and a golden aura radiates around it. This makes every tower do 25% more damage for 15 seconds. 2 minute and 30 second cooldown.
