Monster, The Resistance, Awake and Alive are real bangers. The female singer is also the drummer, and Kori, the rhythm guitarist and keyboards, is the lead singers wife
I've followed them since I saw them live at Sonshine Festival in Wilmar, MN on their Alien Youth tour. The first time I heard Monster was a festival setting and I'd never had my mind blown more at a concert. They were loud to begin with, but when the monster voice came out so unexpectedly it sounded twice as loud and echoed out of the crowd that extended about 3 blocks deep. When I saw them the next year, John rose from the stage sitting on a monster head with smoke coming out of it's nose and ears. They always bring it.
I'm not religious, but I do enjoy Skillet as a band. They have awesome music and they aren't preachy in their lyrics at all. In fact I had no idea they were considered a "Christian Rock" band until a few years back. Honestly I kind of still don't think of them as a "Christian rock" band, but rather a "rock band" whose members happen to be "Christian".
On the original album, Monster and Hero were the first two songs and were clearly intended to complement each other. Monster sets up the problem, and Hero tells us about the solution to it.
Skillets fan group are called panheads. This is one of my favorite bands. “Feel Invincible,” is another one of their hits. I would also think you may like “Jesus Freak,” by DC Talk.
In 2004 I saw them. At augustana university in sioux falls, sd. My gf knew I'm not very religious she just told me it was a rock band that she liked. It was your typical rock concert til halfway through they started praying. It was that moment I figured out they were a Christian band and I'd been tricked into going to a Christian concert. I've seen them 3 times since and own all their albums. 😂😂
The lead singer, John Cooper, has an amazing Podcast called Cooper Stuff, that digs deep into modern ideology and the direction the world has gone. Also they tour with mainstream bands and speak their faith on stage.
Big Skillet fan from Germany here... I am not into religion at all and still love this band, because it is really good music and you can interpret their songs like you want. I think they also do this at purpose, so it has more appeal to a non religious audience. Great riffs, memorable chorus, the play between the two voices and overall great rockmusic just does it for me personally.
They tour with both Christian and secular bands which grows their audience. They aren't shy about talking about God in concert though. John Cooper (lead singer) has a podcast called Cooperstuff that deals with social and religious issues very boldly and straightforwardly. What you see in what you get.
I have been friends with John and Kori Cooper for about 20 years and they are truly the kindest and humble people I have known...genuine, as well as the rest of the band
Always loved skillet, them and red came to winter jam in Birmingham one time and they’ve always been one of the multiple Christian bands that used that “it’s about God but outs not exactly saying it outright in some songs because you don’t reach people by shoving it down their throat” method. POD red flyleaf thousand foot crutch, some others! Yall check out diary of Jane by breaking Benjamin, or more of this kind: again by flyleaf, take it out on me thousand foot crutch, Christian hard rock/metal took over in the early 00’s!
I'd see them every year since Alien Youth at Sonshine Festival in Wilmar, MN or the now defunct Club 3 Degrees in Minneapolis, but there aren't a lot of Christian venues in Minnesota any more. Only concert I've seen in the last 5 years was Switchfoot.
Been listening to Skillet (like the pan) for 25 years. They have great music and a great message throughout their discography. Glad you found this great band!
@@rogerhuggettjr.7675 I gotta look for that. Is it based on a video game or anime? There is an excellent video using Destiny 2 cuts with a song called Soldiers by Otherwise. Friggin great. But I play a lot of D2 🤷♂️
Skillet is my favorite band and I’ve seen them in concert twice. Recommend songs: Monster, Awake and Alive, Feel Invincible, Anchor, and Whispers in the Dark
I also like how most of their songs can be interpreted with positive messages without it being solely coming from faith and Christ. Loving seeing people becoming panheads!
Growing up, I was a huge fan of Usher and every chance I got I would listen to Yeah by him, Ludacris and Lil Jon. Well last year I listen to it and less than halfway through, I was like, “Oh wow! I used to listen to and sing along to this?”
Skillet was formed in 1996 they developed their sound with Alien Youth. Over 18 years my self & my son's have seen them live a half dozen times, they are currently touring
Let me clarify. I was a bassist in a Christian band. They were playing Miami U. in Ohio and we had an opportunity. I remember he liked my Pedulla bass and let me just play through his Trace Elliot amp, rather than drag my huge rig in. lol They were very nice people. Loved that experience. Btw, genuine people. We prayed before the show and they were so genuine. I'm sure they still are. :)
You gotta check out Stryper! They are the best Christian band ever imo, been doing it since 84 and still doing it now check out transgressor or do unto others or the valley any of their stuff is good
Their song Victorious is a banger. It won’t get as many requests, but I feel it’s because it doesn’t have a music video to go along with it. It’s their best song imo, so beautiful and powerful.
The lead singer of skillet actually has it condition in his voice box where his vocal cords are actually farther out than they are supposed to be. So he can only sing rock without having a hard time.
Skillet is one of my favorite bands some of there best songs are monster awake and alive hero legendary Lucy not gonna die and more are amazing songs by skillet but yes skillet is a Christian rock band and they influence alot of there testimony in there songs and how there life moves in the gospel and what they believe in and they are super supportive to others across the nation I've got the pleasure to meet them irl so such a blessing
John Cooper (the lead vocalist/basist) has always said in his interviews/shows that he makes music that everyone can consume in their own way. The songs mean one thing to the band, but everyone can have their own interpretation. Some may call them as a bridge from secular to faith based music.
Awake and alive is one of my favorite songs and I love Jen’s (the drummers) voice. They are religious but not pushing it as someone who isn’t really religious I listen to most of there songs. I’ve even seen them in concert
I absolutely LOVED the intro at the beginning guys. Couldn’t agree more. Love skillet and have I have grown older and more mature I’ve incorporated majority Christian rock in my music. Y’all just earned a sub guys! By the way unbreakable soul is my favorite skillet song so far. But they’ve got SO many bangers with amazing positive messages.
If you liked this song then I reconmend listening to Psycho in my Head, Burn It Down, Legendary, Sick of It, Not Gonna Die, Whispers in the Dark, Monster, Rebirthing, Out of Hell and Feel Invinsible (they're all pretty godd songs by Skillet)
This band is incredible live! I’ve seen them a few times now and they never disappoint. I prefer the heavier songs they do, especially when John and Jen both sing. Feel Invincible is an amazingly uplifting song!
Skillet is definitely my favorite Cristian band. Hero is one of their older songs but never gets old. I still listen to it a lot. John Cooper the lead singer who wrote most of the song says the " Hero" to Him is Jesus Christ but it can mean anything to anyone and he is OK with that. The video does show a lot of " hero" which is cool so that this song can be taking anyways that will help someone. God bless
I've seen them a dozen times from clubs to Christian music festivals. If you have a chance to catch them outdoors, they have the best pyrotechnics in rock. You should review the animated video of Not Gonna Die Today and well as their song right after 9-11 called You Are My Hope to get the full scope of John Cooper's vocals. The closest band to their sound in secular music is Three Days Grace in my opinion. Whenever I hear a song that I think might be them, but the lyrics are rawer than their music it will inevitably be TDG.
Hey guys I'm new here just wanted to say hello. I also have a suggestion for you guys. Give the band Unleash the Archers a shot, primarily the song Awakening. They have some amazing songs but I think you guys might like them. Awesome video guys thank you alot.
I think you could like a very different american artist better known in Québec than in his own country. His name: Shawn Phillips. the song: "She was waiting for her mother at the station in Torino and you know I love you baby but it's getting too heavy to laugh". Yes, that's the title.
Hopefully you dive in. Skillet is an incredible band with a lot to offer. I was introduced to them a year or two ago, and they've quickly become one of my favorite bands. Best band we've never heard of? Heh. 25 years, 11 albums, 12-time platinum, one of the best selling bands this century. I really don't know how I missed them all these years. Lots of great suggestions in the comments, but a great song that is very Skillet that needs a bit more reaction love, IMO, is: "I Want To Live" Here is a a version with some tour footage to watch put over it, but you might want to react to the official audio version? th-cam.com/video/XPaSLqBpkh0/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!
Awake and Alive, Legendary, Comatose, Not Gonna Die, The Resistance and many more
Monster is also awesome.
Feel Invincible
Legenday, Not Gonna Die, Sick Of It, Stars, invincible. Great songs
Just heard psycho in my head, so good, as always.
Comatose is amazing

Same here. My thoughts exactly.
It's more like Christians who happen to be in a rock band
@@carsonmyers3216 tomato, tomahto.
The female part of the duo is Jen Ledger, she is also the drummer. If you watch live, she sings while playing. FYI, she also has her own band "Ledger"
They only had two drummers and the other is Lori, one of the best
Skillet Not Gonna Die next please. Loved this reaction. 😊
I love Skillet thank you for the reaction. The drummer Jen Ledger is from the UK. She actually joined Skillet when she was 18 😀
On the original album, Monster and Hero were the first two songs and were clearly intended to complement each other. Monster sets up the problem, and Hero tells us about the solution to it.
I've never thought about that😮

I LOOOOVE Jesus Freak!!!
Jesus freak is fantastic! Although I'm more partial to newsboys version.

They're my second favorite behind Switchfoot, but they edge them out in concert.
@@rogerhuggettjr.7675 Switchfoot are awesome

Just saw them in November, such high energy through the whole concert!

I wonder what they'd make of Flyleaf's Sick or TFK's Bounce. Sparks Fly and Call Out are incredible songs of theirs.
loved them from day one! been to a lot of there concerts and they rock! miss moshing to them!

First Dream Theater, and now Skillet. I swear you guys are coming for ME lol. Great reaction!

Never surrender, Burn it down, monster are all good jams as well but they're best is Undefeated. Was my go to workout jam
Great reaction. I’ve seen them live several times. Love their music!
Hero, Monster, Savior, Whispers in the Dark is the best Skillet music's
Flyleaf and DC Talk from same era. Stryper and Petra from the 80’s. Great reaction channel guys

Skillet tours with non-Christian bands. They do proclaim the name of Christ from stage. They've been around for quite a while.
1997 is their first album if I remember right.
Skillet was formed in 1996 they developed their sound with Alien Youth. Over 18 years my self & my son's have seen them live a half dozen times, they are currently touring

Stryper! Christian heavy metal that hits as hard as anything and the message is so much more wholesome.
I love Stryper (seen them in '88 and around 2015), but I wouldn't say Skillet is less wholesome. Ever hear You Are My Hope or Saturn
