Im very passionate about Cherise Sinclair’s Club Shadowlands so I highly recommend you finish the series. Master Z in the first book doesn’t read minds, he is a psychologist and therefore can read people’s expressions and body language really well. The whole series has multiple amazing underlying plots aside from the kink club including a huge sex trafficking ring. They also include books with multiple doms and also female dommes and male subs (book 10. Big strong man which you said you liked). It’s a really good series for people wanting to learn about bdsm but also portrays the abuse and problems within the community without sugar coating them. In conclusion, I love these books please give them another try :)

Oh the Cherise Sinclair club shadow lands series does pick up majorly my favourite has to be book five make me sir it takes the tale through a loop with trafficking and under cover work it really ups the book game

Girl.... you’re so right about the covers. 😂😂😂 and just because I can, I’m going to buy these books and the ones I like I’m going to have rebound for my library because I will judge myself for those covers no matter the content. That might be shallow of me but I’m just being honest. There’s a lot of book repair places and book binding places that will rebind your books
One of the best bdsm romances is by Ashe Barker, Hard limits. She is a sub and mute . So you can understand how rules, consent can be precise and interesting in this setting.

Being a member of the BDSM community the only one I have to disagree with is Club Shadowlands. She was clearly in a car accident and they should have been direct on where exactly she was and what paperwork she was signing.
I'm so happy you put an emphasis on aftercare. I rarely see it and when I do it makes the book 10x better already lol.

@@TheBookRefuge That did make reading it easier and more fun for sure! It's funny how certain scenarios for me can be read in different ways depending on the genre. Contemporary? I'm 110% strict. Paranormal? Maybe the grass is blue and the sky is green? lol
Right! At the end of that story, I just felt like he showed a LOT of care and sweetness to her, so it didn't bug me, but in other scenarios I would have been mad. But hey, that's the fun of the fictional.

I love historical romances with kink / taboo elements. The Duke I Tempted unfortunately was a disappointment for me. The beginning was promising, but the middle with lots of miscommunication dragged on and on way to long for me. I was bored. I would have hoped for more open communication earlier in the book, not just the last 20%. I will try book two in this series, hoping that it's more my cup of tea.
Very true! It did tease us a LOT. I just liked finding a book with any BDSM elements in it. Have you read Rough Surrender by Cari Silverwood.

@@TheBookRefuge I finished Rough Surrender by Cari Silverwood yesterday. Thanks again for the recommendation! I liked it very much. The nostalgic setting in Egypt added to the heat of the story. I didn't care for the kidnapping-part of the story, in my eyes the story didn't need that. The conflict between Faith and Meisner about her being an independent feminist and pilot was far more interesting and enough to carry the book.
My first bdsm was Red Phoenix Brie's Submission series. OMG hot!
My biggest problem with that was Brie herself. I can't believe,for a minute, that Sir, an older, experienced Dom, would saddle himself with such an emotional ditz. She is, frankly, annoying. He should have uncollared her more than once!

Hello. Have you heard of the Venus School by Golden Angel? It’s mainly an MFM, the mc is a newbie submissive. It also goes into detail about how difficult being in such a relationship is in real life. Hope it helps :)

Minstral Dawn has a series with Fae Kings who have human mates and there is BDSM dynamics involved. Covers are horrible but the books are excellent. Taken by the Huntsman is the first one.
