I meant to include this closeup photo of the input shaft carnage. Must have been tired editing last night... th-cam.com/users/postUgkxmPxsxpQpdqkeBBtZb62LvYbh9xU40VRL
Good content. Show more, please. Transmissions are like voodoo magic. I had an experienced mechanic show me how to rebuild my 901 once and I still would struggle to explain it all to someone else.
I'm learning and explaining as I go. Kurt at klassic already has great videos on the rebuild of these things. The difference is I don't have all the tools. And I don't have a reputation or warranty to stand behind.
Transmission videos have been terrific. I watched the 741 series several times. Your innovative approach to making tools was brilliant. Very much would like to see the 915 getting done.
Very interesting detail on the inner workings. I would like to know more. I had my BB Chevelle M21 Muncie trans rebuilt years ago and it needed several gears and synchro's replaced.
ouch... 2nd and third on the input shaft should NOT move at all. You're going to need to replace that shaft, sorry.. also, the 3/4 slider is likely worn too allowing 3rd to pop out.
Don't be sorry, that kind of stuff is to be expected. I have a parts trans just for this reason. It might be better than this one, but I hope to pick and choose the best parts.
I don't have any porches nor do I really ever intend too but this is very interesting and well made content, thank you.💯 On a side note, I'm a Subaru guy. It almost looks like with some welding, or modifications you could use a WRX STI 6 speed for a Porche in a pinch perhaps, they look kinda similar.
Thank you for watching. Subaru's are very similar in fact. Some parts were designed by Porsche even. The problem with the Subaru trans in a 911 is it would have 5 speeds in reverse and 1 forward speed😂
Your content is great, but I suggest you change your video titles to not include 'I' or 'My', as the title should be about how you can help your viewers or subscribers.

I would absolutely like to see a detailed video on the 915 overhaul
Complex and difficult repairs described and explained in your calm way is always worth viewing.
Thanks! I don't know why I'm so calm about the trashed input shaft. That's an expensive repair anywhere else. I bet my friend Juan Carlos can help me.
Yes, show us the tear down and repair please. Great work!!
Really enjoy seeing how these are repaired. It is a rare opportunity. Thanks.
Yes it's very interesting watching you take that transmission apart
This is really interesting stuff Tom. As an owner of a whining 915 box myself I will continue to watch with interest.
Ok, nobody likes a whiner

Please give us more transmission rebuild videos. I watched all of the 356/741 videos and loved them.
Thanks👍
Love the transmission videos Tom, keep it up!
🙏
Yes please keep going. The 356 gearbox videos were very informative.
Thx
Transmission videos have been terrific.

Very much would like to see the 915 getting done.
Thanks. I'm sure this one will require more of the same.
I for one would enjoy watching as you go thru this case/transmission. Your attention to details is great. And thank you for another video.
Great content really enjoy the detail please carry on!
Thanks for the great content, Tom. I find the transmission videos fascinating. I hope to see more.
Yes this is extremely interesting! Love your videos Tom!
Thank you!❤️
Cool info- no clue on this stuff but I’m happy to watch any of your content- it’s always interesting
By all means, Yes! The 1974 2.7L engine & trans i have is in unknown condition, so knowledge is power...lol
Very interesting detail on the inner workings. I would like to know more. I had my BB Chevelle M21 Muncie trans rebuilt years ago and it needed several gears and synchro's replaced.
Wow, those are tough transmission too!
Yes pls continue.
Very informative video, keep on with re build.
TOM!
2 thumbs up... I have an input shaft if you are needing one.
D
Ooh thanks for the offer. Does it also have the matching first gear?
you can flip the syncros and use them twice. both sides work
I don't recommend this because the installed diameter will be too large after you flip it.
Love these vids!
It must feel less daunting pulling the 915 apart after already having done the 356 transmission!
Yes for sure. There are similarities and so far the 915 is easier to work on
ouch... 2nd and third on the input shaft should NOT move at all. You're going to need to replace that shaft, sorry.. also, the 3/4 slider is likely worn too allowing 3rd to pop out.

Certainly- keep on going!

@@GarageTimeAutoResto 😆
I had a 915 issue. The dongle was not properly lining up. Keep the videos coming
Crooked dongle 🤣
Oh please please please 🙏 document the whole rebuild as I'm up against similar issues with my 915
Ok
I would like to see a 915, as thats what in my garage!
Interesting. When my 915 was rebuilt I just paid for all new dogs and synchro’s. Totally transformed the transmission. Enjoying the vid, thanks
Dogs and synchros give the great feel as that is what engages and disengages every time. Did they do bearings too?
Please finish with the gearbox very interesting . Saludos desde Panama!
Ooh, Panama. We have some friends moving there. Hope to visit next year. Keep in touch!
yes . Looking forward to see you here
