  • We're so excited to reconnect with LEGO builder Jack Carleson at Bricks by the Bay to check out his massive 40,000+ brick Airbus A380 airliner. This minifigure-scale recreation of the world's largest passenger airliner is an engineering marvel: completely freestanding and equipped with motorized flaps as well as detailed LED lighting! Jack shares with us his build process and gives us a peek at this model's interior!

I did want to hear the actual scale because depending on going by minifig height or width that can vary wildly. I prefer 1/35. Just kind of 'feels' right to me, unless you're building something where height is more relevant, then you might want to scew more towards 1/44(42? I forget.) Or, vice versa for long mocs, more like 1/25? I forget the numbers, but I generally go for 1/35 or stuff gets cramped.

Even though Mirja was destroyed, this great guy could try to build the An-225 model - the biggest jet plane built yet. Blueprints surely exist, and this would be nice tribute. And it would be something new, since its a cargo plane, so you would be making an interior with air transport containers and a whole system for that, instead of the passenger seats. You could even try to make a loading system for it.

I wondering if lego made it as the same size like this how much it will goes??..
For Titanic and Star Wars Mill Falcon like $850...
I think.. maybe this worth $3000 if lego sell it...or $5000??

Great stuff, but that double red light on the top is not a strobe light, but what we call a beacon light. We use it to signal to ground crew that the engines are running and it helps with extra visibility. It only flashes once instead of twice like the white Strobe lights on the end of the wing. I don't know how he got this wrong as he got it right on the bottom. Both the red lights on the top and bottom of the fuselage do the same thing. The nav lights (the steady on green and red lights on the ends of the wing) are correct and everything else looks good though!

This kid will have great future if he decides to go to design engineering. He needs to learn of course the programs, but biggest design computer is brain and he has that power on use. Another important thing is going to gym. It might be new too heavy to move in one piece, but put the effort in and one day it will feel feather light.

That’s bad a$$. The makers of Airbus should offer to buy that for a lot of money and display it at their headquarters. That way it’s not just sitting around in storage.

"Hundreds of these in operation" 251 made only 129 in operation. They are literally being scrapped as there is no market for them and they are too costly to store.
