- Hey you guys I been thinking about making this video for while and after seeing brothership get announced I knew it was time to talk about this series. Over time I definitely started to loose interest in this franchise but this new game looks great and I cant wait to try it.

High’s and lows from someone who only finnished partners in time and superstar saga, honestly this video felt super rushed with no coherent thoughts, this is a poorly disguised rant video
Fake news I finished majority of dream team as well and if the trailer looks like a recycled game i don't need to play it for my opinions to be valid
@@displayland1988you can say that every sequel looks recycled. Also if you don't at least give those games a chance your not fit to criticize them because "a game in the same series is too similar to the previous." Only playing 2 and a half games also doesn't qualify you to decide what the rise or fall was, because this seems like from the video the only good game was Superstar Saga and every game afterwards was trash (which isn't the case at all)
The entire video was just you unnecessarily dunking on the entire series with no real good reason, come on dawg

Bowsers Inside Story was my favorite baffling that they remade it
Should've had a new title on switch instead of two unneeded remakes.

Bit far to call this “highs and lows” when the only high you mentioned was “super star saga good”
I had to question things as watching this video because instead of feeling like it was an actual study, it was just a way for you to bash on the series if it wasn't Superstar Saga
Superstar Saga is one of the best M&L games but not THE best. There are many flaws that keep it down such as being able to fight enemies that are ment for later in the game and selecing the overworld bros movies, and thr biggest of yet the game feeling like a breeze until you reach Bowsers castle.
Partners in time took a more serious route and wanted to try a few new things such as attacks as items. The game may not hold up as well as some of the others but its still a pretty good game if your willing to look past its flaws.
Bowser's Inside Story is condidered the best because it expands on what Superstar Saga did and then some. Keeping to Marios roots, the inside bowser sections are platformers while Bowser and some M&L sections are just like Superstar Saga. The combat feels more responsive and fun to do than in the previous 2 games and the writing is spot on. The few downsides the gams has is that some areas feel unnecessary and the games difficulty can be too much for some. The Giant battles were done first here and were way better than Dream Teams, outside the fire. They were saved for special moments in the game and sometimes actually are important for the story to continue.
Dream Team may be a snooze fest yes, but there is still some of the charm in there. Playing through dream team feels like if the difficulty of Superstar and the mechanics of Inside Story were mixed together incorrectly. The game is overall a step down in difficulty and somewhat in story compared to the others and its not everyone's cup of yeq, but again if you really look past its flaws you can have a decent time. This game somewhat marked the decline of the series.
Paper Jam considered by most is the worst one of them all, going for a generic story and feeling empty and soulless. The combat is actually pretty satisfying but some moves go on longer than they should. If that game was given a better story actually mixing M&L story telling with PM story telling then we could have gotten a decent game. But sadly it was made when Alphadream didn't even know how to go make a 5th game. This was the last original game we'd get till Brothership and is the lowest the series went.
The 2 remakes are both fantastic and horrible. Superstar Saga gets the love it deserves by adding a condtant difficulty and an easier way to change your overworld bros moves. They also made it where the final boss cant get 1 shot anymore.
Inside Story's remake however wasn't as good, they lowered the difficulty by a noticable amount, made some attacks easier to do or dodge, made bosses easier by making them enter Fury mode (like the Superstar Saga remake) when almost dead, and many more things.
Maybe do a bit more research and try to put together the Internets collective opinions on those games while still sharing your thoughts on them. This video as said doesn't feel like a "Rise and Fall study" of the series and feels like a "Watch someone bash a game series they've only played 3 games of because theyre not like the 1st game of the series."

despite everything partners and inside story are good games I thought a lot of what I said was common consensus thats why the sales fell off. i couldn't find much on the sales of inside story other then personal preference so i made assumptions. but yes i need to do more research you have a better understanding of the franchise then me and i appreciate the feed back

Wow, this video is kinda mid.
You didn't do much research, didn't even really play half the games, the editing is garbage and the pacing too. This feels more like a reddit rant than a well put together video.
I'll hear you out on most of this but I really don't think my opinions would have changed if I played the games that I missed. I watched hours of gameplay footage before recording and they seem like boring retreads
I kind of have the same opinion of this video as everyone else who has commented. It’s very evident you didn’t do enough research. Also in general, if you’re going to make a video on a series, actually play all the games in their entirety? Your opinion can’t be validated when you don’t even finish the games you are criticizing
For me someone who played most of the games this video feels very bad
I also didn’t play all of the games but you need to play the others otherwise you can’t see the full image

I have come to that conclusion after reading alot of comments. Its not only a bad look but it's genuinely ignorant to review a game / criticize it without even playing it my bad
I like that you're being critical towards this series. However you have some really weird critisisms most of the time. Some valid stuff were that the bros attacks go on for a bit too long sometimes(altough I know most people don't mind it THAT much), paper jam just being bland and that PIT and BIS have a kinda broken battle system(although it's still fun and most people still praise the battle system).
However
- You keep saying most of the series' settings are "lame" and "uninteresting" yet you do not at all elaborate on it.
- I really don't understand why you said bis's artstyle was bad. It's almost objectively has the best spritework in the series.
- What, apart from the bros attacks, makes you think "we did that already" for BIS? Imo it changed up the formula and setting enough to be interesting. Yes, some stuff is similar to older entries, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- You said dream team looks bland? I really don't understand that at all, can you elaborate? For me, how dream team looks is one of it's strengths. It's very detailed and unique for coming out in the bland era of mario. If anything, the many tutorials the game has is the worst part and you didn't even say anything about that.
One critisism I wanna add for brothership is that most of the new characters do look out-of-place in the mario universe. Like, putting connie next to a koopa, and you can see what I mean. Surprised you didn't say something about that as well.

I say the settings are lame because they start repeating themes like desert areas or the areas are just uninteresting
Bis seemed like a repeat of partners because the combat and art style looked the same I didn't mean to imply bis looked bad just the same and the whole going inside bowser / going in the giant yoshi thing. And dream team just had flat colors weak cel shading and the areas look to open. Art style is really subjective tho so I'll except your criticism
I don't think you did your research in this video very well.
It seems that you are talking about these games in your prospective but some of your opinions you admit you played half of the game and you didn't do some of the research on why some of these games sold well and why others didn't even though you can find the information pretty easily.
For example: The Reason why they made Paper Mario was because Square had a falling out with Nintendo. That information is widely known. You could have did a lot more effort into the research into the video before stating your opinion.
I'll admit i could have research the franchise development a bit better but i literally did look up why these games sold as well as they did and this was all i got. I mentioned the marketing and the actual consoles success. yes this is all from my perspective but the series felt like a boring retread after awhile my bad
Can you please stop calling it a “franchise”? It’s an RPG sub-series in the wider Mario franchise.

@displayland1988 I dont know how much of a tolerance you have for it but, the Bros moves aren't like how they are in Superstar Saga. They're more minigame-like, and the sideways ds boss fight thing originates from there. So I'd say it's best not to waste your time with it
