    I purchased some Jam Paper brand color on one side Kraft paper sort of like this. The paper you're using manufactured or distributed in Germany. I couldn't find it on Amazon.com but it's on the Amazon.de site. They do not ship to the USA, however, they do ship to Canada, just FYI. The Jam I got is OK. I'm going to try it now but I suspect it might be too thick for this project.

    That's a very beautiful model! And the details on the lid really resemble the flower! Thanks for the video!

    Sara, I could fold it and it is mainly because of your wonderful explanation. i did hydrangea flower already so it was not very difficult.Still it was a challenge. thanks a lot sara, though thanks is a small word. But each time to fold anything, i use your video again and again, why can't i fold without following the video. And soooo many different origami projects ,how to remember!!!

    I used bulletin board paper bought at a school supply store and got good results. It's quite cheap, and good for practice.

    Hi Sara, thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I've been meaning to fold this for ages and never got round to it. Finally I decided to fold it, it took me all morning, but I'm really pleased with the result! :)
    I used paper the same size as you did. I'm keen to try this model though, with smaller paper so I can stack boxes inside each other, but concerned that it will be too difficult to fold the 3 level Hydrangea? What would you recommend as a minimum size to start with? I'm reluctant to scale up as I've only got paper 700mm wide and this folds in half nicely, any bigger and I'd end up with lots of offcuts.

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dasa did this, too, and she also used 700mm max. See a picture here: www.flickr.com/photos/dasssa/15985938265 -- you might not want to fold all the way down to 100mm, but you might not need 7 stacked boxes, either. ;) Also, Dasa notes that for boxes to fit into one another, you have to have at least 50mm difference in the starting square. I'd go for a bit more - Dasa went with 100mm difference, which gives a bit of a gap, as you can also see in the picture.
      I'd suggest you fold the largest, then scale down and stop when you feel like the box was testing your skills at the size quite a bit. This also has the advantage that you get to practice a bunch before using smaller paper. :)
      I hope this helps you get started. Happy folding!

    Hola Sara! Varias veces he intentado hacer la caja y en ninguna oportunidad logro los 3 niveles que tú haces de la hortensia. Necesito que por favor me respondas o comentes acerca de lo siguiente:
    1) Parece que aunque aumente las medidas del papel, la flor es del mismo tamaño; de modo que la caja es más grande pero no la flor...no entiendo por qué pasa eso.
    2) La cinta de la tapa se dobla en los bordes para emparejarla con la de la caja, o sea, hacerla del mismo grosor, pero a mí me queda del mismo grosor de una vez....
    Agradecería comentaras o dieras alguna instrucción para mejorar esto.... Bye ;)

    Where do you buy your fabulous Kraft paper? BTW thanks for all the wonderful tutorials. I've done many including this box but I would love to find the kraft paper you use or at least some wrapping paper that doesn't have the grid pattern on the back.

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's widely available in Germany. There are some online sources, too, but which ones are relevant depends on your location and what sizes you're looking for.

    This is one of the hardest folding I learnt from TH-cam, very very time consuming but interesting & amazing piece of masterpiece.
    I would like to see the remake of this tutorial with more variances of size & details in order to create this beautiful gift box because I'd tried many times and failed due to the size of base & lid not very accurate with each others.
    Thank you so much for the sharing.

      Oooo. Thank you very much! Unfortunately that's pretty expensive for just one model :(

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      turtlelore 2 Yes, it's much cheaper here in Germany. But put into perspective, at least you're getting a nice quantity for $29.70: six rolls, so in total 30 feet by 30 in. And if you're wondering what else to fold from this paper, you have lots of options. For example, I used this paper for the boxes for our wedding favors (th-cam.com/video/NNmmuCIHkBE/w-d-xo.html), the curlicue (th-cam.com/video/LZ0Ik0zFUL4/w-d-xo.html), the jack in a box (th-cam.com/video/PwvTKjAvvCU/w-d-xo.html), lots of stars for Christmas cards (e.g. www.happyfolding.com/gallery-sprung-star_stephanie) and even some butterflies (e.g. www.happyfolding.com/gallery-lafosse-le_papillon_de_nuit). Plus, of course it's still really nice for wrapping presents. ;)

    • @turtlelore2
      @turtlelore2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely an investment! Thanks for the suggestions too

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a much better selection of Kraft paper in Germany than most other parts of the world. However, I did find one source on Amazon.com that sells (a bit expensive) tan/red: www.amazon.com/dp/B0091A3R9Q

    • @truckena

      You have to fold it past the edge of the ribbon by a little bit (equal amount past on all four sides). If it's too small, you're not adding enough distance past the edge of the ribbon.
