Hello there, I was asked to make some scrub caps for a niece who is now a surgical nurse. I am beyond happy to have found this tutorial second in the queue. I'll not be spending hours and hours watching others. Thank you for your tutorial and I hope this comment finds you healthy and happy.
I have tried about 3-4 other patterns/ methods for making the bouffant caps and this by far was the BEST! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this and walk us through it step by step.
The BEST tutorial! Thank you very much. I'm an OR nurse and have fluffy hair, which I don't like getting "squished", so I like the bouffant style so this may be perfect. Gonna go find tissue paper to make the pattern & then we'll see how I do with the rest. Wish me (mainly my hair) luck!

I made a few versions of scrub caps recently and this is my favorite! It held up the best after washing too! It’s absolutely wonderful for long hair and I love that it’s so accommodating to various head sizes. Thank you so much for sharing this!!

One question: what is the make and model of your sewing machine? I would love to get a machine that can do serger and sew in one instead of logging out my overlock machine. Thank you
Also, as the patterns are for 10 circles, they are too large to print on a normal sheet of paper. You could not print it unless you have access to a large format printer. You can easily draw it by hand, as explained in the tutorial. All you need is a piece of string and a pencil.
Probably is time to oil it. I'll tell her. Regarding the pincushion, my wife bought that at a fabric store somewhere. In fact, I think she bought a bunch of them, gave some as gifts, and keeps a few around the sewing room.
Amena, you have to make your own paper pattern which is described at the start of the video. Very well described how to do this. Replay back to the beginning for pattern.
Wouldn't the zipper foot work better to be sure you don't get the elastic caught in stitch, & than just use a sm. stitch back & forth instead of zig zag
Fold the fabric like a Z along that front edge to take up the slack in the circle. 3 folds a little less than an inch usually does it. Adjust their width as needed - remember, hats are forgiving. Pin the folds and it should lay flat and equal - brim and circle. Jolene

I haven't read any of the comments on here so please forgive me if I'm repeating this but' Sewing over pins can really damage your machine & people who are new to Sewing are watching & may not know how this can not just break needles it can really harm their machines... Yes, it really depends on your machine and the foot you have. My wife on this video is sewing with a pretty nice Bernina with a walking foot. She *rarely* hits a pin. She's been sewing this way her entire life. But if you are using a less expensive machine and the regular foot that comes with it, then it is definitely a good idea to pull the pins out as you get to them.
@@azcavalier I bought my 1rst Bernina in the 90's and it's an excellent machine. Your wife appears to be quite skilled at Sewing but for the viewers who are taking their lessons from videos & may not have ever touched a machine before {When I learned there were no videos so I did it the old fashioned way by reading every book I could get my hands on 😄} Some people see & sew. Sewing over pins can not only break a needle that can fly in their eye God forbid it could damage the bobbin case or throw off the timing. I guess I'm kind of old school and have been teaching my grandkids who pretty much learn everything by watching videos. So it wasn't your wife I was referring to it's the young newbies who are starting out and perhaps have a beginner machine and cannot afford to have their machines serviced... My apologies if I Offended you or your lovely wife in any way... 🙏🏾🤗♥️
Elastic is almost impossible to find right now. You could probably make it with anything that you fit through a cord stop. It might even work to just use shoestrings and tie them together around back. That is just me thinking out loud, though. She's never tried it.
Babsie Mccoy Same! That’s the only part I struggle with. They look amazing...until that brim and zig zag stitch. Did you figure anything out yet to make it easier?

I think she just uses cotton, but there is no reason that a blend wouldn't work.

There is no file. It's just explained at the beginning of the video how to make it.
Instead of leaving a small gap in the back for the cord stop, I put a buttonhole in the back and the the elastic thru that way.

How did you measure the brim? I don’t see a pattern?
Go back and watch from 1:14 to 1:45 in the video. The brim pattern is 15 inches long by 3 inches tall.

Is it possible to make this same hat without the tie pull and just continue the elastic inside? Will the elastic measurements be the same?
