Was seriously just thinking the same thing. I mean, I didn't realize it until I specifically came back to this clip to watch the choreography of the background dancers. I mean, 00:57 really caught my attention! But I'm guessing Camilla's Mom is correct with her conclusion. Lmfao everyone is too distracted by Queen Latifah's performance to even notice how suggestive the dance choreography is getting!
It's a shame this video cuts out the section of the scene where Edna first shows up, that part has some of the funniest lines of the whole movie. I still laugh at "Penny, go home before your mother shoots you" every single time I hear it.

What’s I love about this song is that there’s at least one line in the song that any girl can relate to. For me that line is “why sit in the bleachers, timid and afraid, when Edna you look like the whole parade.”
I’m not the body type they’re talking about, but I’m shy and reserved. For me looking “like a whole parade” means that I’m a fun, loud and enjoyable person. I just have to break out of my shell.

The original 1988 movie has no songs and the songs we know now are from when Hairspray was first made into a musical on Broadway in 2002. So this is the movie based of the 2002 play rather than the original movie

Chicago and Hairspray are two of the best movie musical of the 21st century (my personal favorites as well) coincidentally, they both had Queen Latifah. She is literally the queen. The whole cast of these two movies defined what it means to star in a movie musical.

She definitely did. I love Jennifer Hudson's powerful voice, but Queen Latifah is better suited to play Motormouth Maybelle. The woman has soul to spare in her voice. Between this song, "I Know Where I've Been" and "You Can't Stop The Beat", I fell in love with Queen Latifah, in a non-stalkery way.
