I dont think lethals are that much of an issue. Without cod like perks and no ability to resupply them I find them easier to deal with. No spamming possible

Hey Ace! Thanks for covering the patch notes. Although, I should mention, if you're not familiar with Rainbow Six: Siege, I can understand some confusion about GSK--their Riot Shield, which looks to be their Ultra, is based on the gadget used by Blitz in R6. His shield is equipped with a very bright light that can flash enemies, so I imagine it will function the same in XDefiant. Not to mention, we can see the GSK operator shoot over the shield in the reveal trailer. Their other ability isn't a tactical camera--it's actually based on the gadget that the character Jager uses. It's functionally just a trophy system, but based on the kind of Active Protection system that is used on tanks and other heavy vehicles, so this class will probably be the premier grenade catch of XDefiant. Their other ability, though, which looks to have three charges before needing to recharge, doesn't look to have been shown at all in the reveal, but I'd be willing to guess it's based on the operator IQ from Siege. Her gadget lets her see electronics through walls, so maybe this will allow the player to see deployed abilities (maybe even including an active Intel Suit?) within a certain radius! Again, great video, but I wanted to shout out my take on the reveal as well!
I think the other tactical is Bandit's barbed wire, at 8:20 , 8:24 and 8:40 you can see barbed wire to the left of the screen. I think it fits the theme of GSK being more focused around area and utility denial

From my experience, 99% of gunfights with bunnyhoppers are over before the new aim penalty will kick in. The bunnyhopping nerf feels like it did practically nothing. The best way I can think of to nerf it to a place where it's not completely unviable but also not too overpowered is to obviously get rid of air strafing (changing directions while midair, as Ace talked about in a previous video), but also introducing a slight penalty to jumping itself. In past COD games, I recall there being a penalty to spam jumping where multiple consecutive jumps would be less powerful than the initial jump, with a short jump height and slower momentum. Maybe only one of those needs to take effect since this is a fast-paced game, but I'm confident that the nerf we got today won't be enough to really resolve the issue. Edit: According to the devs, it's something that's already in the game, but for some reason I haven't ever noticed it once.
Yeah I have not played but I was hoping they just made it so each jump was less and less height like you had limited stamina. One jump is 100 percent elevation ...the next is 50 percent and lower and lower until your barely getting off the ground.
There is very much a system like the devs mentioned, but it kicks in about twice as slowly as you'd see in a typical CoD. It's very much not a factor in most gunfights unless both players really can't aim.

Bunnyhopping nerf seems pretty worthless. Still encountering it in matches. And seeing that it doesn't apply until the 4th jump, that's still plenty of opportunity to bunnyhop in gunfights. It should apply on the second jump; that way you can still get the jump on enemies around corners to start fights, but that 1 is all you get. Timer should also be extended. Snipers have no business in shooters with maps this size so no matter what they do it'll never be enough. Haven't felt any change to the netcode yet.

one thing they should really fix on is the red dot visibility... currently it is still horrible... a minor fix to this is to increase the contrast but that BARELY makes a difference.
Ima be real with you chief this might be a your tv or settings type problem. I see my red dot clear as day. This is not meant to insult you but I would mess with some settings before you roll with the assumption that it’s the game. This is the first I’ve seen anyone say this.
It needs to be second, not third jump. If someone jumped a 3rd time, inwas already dead and they were shooting my corpse as it feel cuz they didnt realise i was already dead. I think after the 2nd will be the sweet spot
@BetGilroy-qm8ff crying more about a fix that's not really fixing anything. If they told us "get good scrubs" well so be it. But doing something to "fix" it that doesn't kick in until the 3rd jump that never happens in a fight doesn't achieve their goal.
I agree, I had no problem with the bunny hopping or being outgunned if I try to lone wolf. The lack of flich on snipers is what made me go play Killer Klowns From Outer Space The Game. When I get home I now plan to play again and see how the game feels.
Do you know any fix on xdefiant controller not working bc I cant find any solution on how to fix it I’ll try ps5 n xbox controller change v0 to v1 I don’t have foot pedals I close the application so many times uninstal xdefiant I change the setting in the game at the everything as possible nothing work I’ve been stocked with keyboard and mouse. I don’t even use it because I don’t know how to use it.
I can definitely confirm one single update did not solve the netcode issues; Is it better? Yeah, maybe a little. Do I still get shot through walls, dump A LOT of rounds into someone before they die, and get 100 point kill "assists" on players I dealt all the damage to? Yes.

Sniper flinch is unequivocally and unarguably a good addition, 10/10 work. The jump/crouch spam penalty is also 100% needed and a great addition, the only change needed imo is that it should kick in earlier, bc after the third jump the gunfight is already over 90% of the time. Should kick in after the second jump imo, that way you can do your initial jump around a corner which is totally reasonable, then one more after that before being penalized
I can usually adapt just fine with gunplay like in XDefiant (even before the patch) but man playing FPS games now is so annoying. it's all just about jumps and slides and being as fast as possible.
The biggest issue in my opinion with the bunny hop spammers wasn’t that they could spam jumping itself, it’s that they can shift directions mid air. When I’m tracking someone through the air as they jump to the right, my brain understands the physics of where he’s gonna land based off of muscle memory, playtime etc, but NOT when they can start jumping right, then as they start to come down they’re going back left in mid air… that needs addressed more so imo
Is still very good, am not even a pro yet on quick scoping and I still manage to kill 15 and up in every match, so now I understand why they were complaining before Lol.
its super aggressive ive played and tested alot today and being in close range and getting sprayed at makes it close to impossible to shot enemys especially if they hit multiple shots because every single shot will make you flinch that hard. I personally think they should have just made it a 1 time flinch which would already make it hard enough to stay on target while being in ads. just my thoughts tho i personally enjoy sniping since bo2 but i dont think any COD had this extreme flinch for snipers. And nobody really cared back then but it seems like now people are too soft to understand that a snipers still needs to hit their shot for it to be a kill and missing makes you extremely vulnerable thats why they always yappin "Snipers are 2 op" well then go back to Black OPs 2 or 3 and play against a good sniper there lets see how much youll rage then because back then snipers had fast ads and only a little flinch which made it easy to land quickscopes
I hope the netcode is drasctically changed with this update. Athough one update usually doesn't do the trick the fact that this was a known issue since before the game even came out is kinda unaccetable that it was at this level to even begin with. That sniper flinch tho? delicious. the fact it can go up or down regardless of what triggers it is very very well thought out.
Uh oh. They basically didnt address the bunny hopping at all. Honestly that is not a good look for its first update. At the very least they need to remove air strafing.
They never said they are getting rid of jumping. Only the spamming. They want movement in the game and they made that clear. Air strafing is still here

I like the feel of the game. The new faction, the trophy system like ability is very welcomed. Good video Ace keep up the XD content. Also, best to you and your wife with the new little one almost here.

I'm just shocked that a characters ability was soaking up bandwidth and thats why there were netcode issues. Like how did yall not notice this during the betas?
That camera shake patch note is straight up lying because they specifically said it shouldn't shake when not taking damage, but quick test in firing range and I found multiple examples where my camera still shakes despite taking 0 damage. You can reliably reproduce a scenario where you don't even have a nade indicator on your screen yet the camera still shakes. Go to firing range and throw a nade behind the desk on your right, then move away until you see no nade indicator - the camera still shakes despite nade being behind cover (so it deals 0 damage to you regardless of distance) and so far away it physically cannot hurt you. It just isn't true that damage makes the screen shake, even though the patch notes say so. Screen shake is still based on the distance from the explosion, and it looks inconsistent as well.
Why is no one talking about the grenade indicators? It shows up red all the time, where it doesn't hurt you when it blows up. The obvious example is if the grenade is at a wall, and you are hugging that wall on the other side, then it will show up red on your hud. But it shouldn't be red, as you get no damage - honestly the indicator shouldn't even be there at all. It happens all the time with small pieces of damage - and more often than not, you have to guess/see where the grenade actually is.
I wonder what the ratio of console to PC players are in relation to the people who are ok with the B-hopping vs not ok... Might be a hot take but i think an overlooked component is also the framerate difference between pc and console. PC players get a better reaction time window due to more frames displaying, updating the player with more accurate information. I think its an overlooked component (not the whole problem but a piece of it).
I been playing it for about 5 days and I’m loving it. I find it challenging, maybe bc I’m not very good (yet) but I see myself putting good time into it. Though connection can be frustrating at times, it’s a fun game!
Good changes, but i hope the movement penalties become slightly more aggressive. I hope we continue to see such prompt updates further out from the launch window. :)
Them adding TDM will definitially give me reason to play it more, I've not played much as I'm not a massive fan of the modes but something as simple as TDM will be hugely enjoyable atleast for me. Only note is I thing the camera thing you mention is not actually a camera, but is Jäger's ADS from R6, this will shoot down grenades and throwables I think. Also I think the shield will have a flashbang ability but I have no idea how that'll work compared to Phantom's shield, I assume just something you can maybe press once or twice while holding it with the ability button.
stupid idea probably but you should make a video covering how penetration works in xdefiant, i haven't seen anyone cover it yet and i'm personally curious about it.
Very happy with development team behind this game they clearly trying to make it the best game possible. I just wish they would fix emp granade not unlocking for some players
its a pre season they dont change to much atm! and i dont rly see what you would need ot chagne weapon wise much feels pretty good balanced even the abilitys are insanely good balanced for a arcade shooter with a nice stone paper scissors typ
Can tell you never played Seige lol. The riot shield has a strobe flash on the front and you can use a pistol while holding the shield, the “wall camera” is basically a trophy system. Should be great for objective modes like control. Great vid as always, bhop nerf feels underwhelming, the sniper nerf looks good but haven’t been able to play yet.
connection is gonna be the achilles heel of this game, siege still has iffy connection issues to this day. Connection issues will persist i think for a long time.
I am not saying people NEVER get killed behind walls, because they do, and so do I from time to time. But I have to wonder how many die behind corners, and don't cehck the killfeed to see a flaming bullet killed them! I am sure it is not you :) But I bet at least half of the complaining is people being shot down to 2 or 4 HP and get ticked by fire damage!
I like how they handled this. Add stuff in gradually and then gather data. If it needs more, add more later on. Not just swing too far all at once and break the game.

I have played 5 matches so far. And at least for me personally, the netcode is really good now. I've only died around a corner twice! I really hope it is like that for everyone now.
I think bunnyhopping nerf needs more work, but I'm happy we are seeing communication & frequent updates. Really missed watching your videos, I stopped playing CoD after not enjoying MWII that much. XDefiant way to go now!
Quite surprisingly i think this is a good update by ubisoft. They didn't fully caved to the low skill cod players but they also made some necessary changes that were needed. Hopefully future updates are going to done in a similar manner.
It’s how people really think the jump spam isn’t a problem is crazy you can still get a kill while they are but the amount of people would rather having a jumping contest & good video no sub
Have they mentioned anything about console only crossplay? I hope that actually becomes a thing in the future! I have a PS and find matches consistently quick, but would like a bigger player pool. I don't hate PC players, but they do have some advantages.
Good. the Devs kept their word on the aim stagger mechanic they mentioned was going to be implemented for the bunny hoppers. I dont know if it will do much but from the looks of things they will be missing alot of their shots. I can see the amount of player base dropping because of this mechanic alone or they can bite the bullet and learn how to play another way. Either way good on the Devs. As far as Factions is concerned, They need to bring Wolves, Black Tusk and Hyenas back since they removed them from closed beta. I know the Wolves would be the direct counter to Phantoms since they play the same. but we'll see how it fairs

The sniper flinch seems a little too extreme tbh, and I doubt the bunny hopping is gonna be any different when you can still get 3 hops without a penalty. Most gunfights don't last 3 hops
They should’ve made the sniper flinch either linear with the number of shots hit with or maybe even logarithmic to reward players for hitting snipers with more shots. But if each time you’re hit you flinch the same it’ll kill the snipers. I’m boutta log in for the first time in a few so I’ll check it out
I’ve noticed, pre and post patch, that after 5-6 games played my connection starts to degrade. Hit-reg, aim assist, and desync. After completely closing the game, that seems to refresh things pretty consistently.
@@t.o.a.s.t.e.r No, it's not a skill issue. There has to be some sort of punishment for excessive jumping and still being able to ADS and shoot at the same time. The snipers got nerfed for a reason, and the same goes for excessive b-hopping.
I'm still getting disconnected due to "poor local connection quality" despite the fact my internet is flawless. I know my internet is working fine because: #1 As I see that red connection warning on the upper left hand side of my screen: I'll ALT-TAB, open up Chrome, and load a TH-cam video instantly (in total taking less than 3 seconds.) #2 No other game disconnects me: it's only XDefiant. This is a major issue for me because the longer game modes like Escort or Zone Control take a LONG time to complete, and all it takes is a single disconnect for me to lose ALL of my progress in a match. A fix would be to change the way the game handles spikes of poor connection. Rather than completely kicking me from the match and forcing me to reconnect all the way from the start menu: simply reconnect / re-establish a connection in the same match. Never completely kick me, and punish me for something completely out of my control.
@@coolbrotherf127 For additional context, I'm running on ethernet, with 300mbps up & down, have verified the games files multiple times, and have XDefiant set to: "run as administrator" every time I open it. Whenever I play XDefiant I close all background apps like Steam.
I think the jump fatigue should start after the first jump. It makes sense irl and this change probably won't fix the spamming issue. But at least they're acknowledging it and trying things without trying to drastically change the game too quickly.
This game is an arcade fast shooter. Its not going to get rid of jumping. They made it clear they want movement in the game. They are just nerfing the spamming.
A small issue I picked up is that when using a variable scope it resets to the lower zoom every life, this is so frustrating to have to reset every life to the higher zoom
As a sniper, I've found something concerning as well. If you fire and hit the enemy right as you get killed, it'll show the hit marker but do 0 damage to them, even from a full-power tac 50 upper torso. It's like the netcode issues ONLY helps other players. I've yet to be on the "winning" side of that netcode.
Honestly for me if the net code wasn't so bad for how fast this game can play I would be fine with the bunny hopping even without the nerf. I just have so many clips where even though I am dead center on them the whole time I get 0 hit reg because where they are on my screen is not necessarily where they actually are according to the server and they are always bunny hopping to get/maintain thier maximum momentum. It does make me wonder if it is impossible for servers to accurately maintain such fast game play that you can achieve in this game.

It is absolutely not brutal; I'm only slightly above-average, and I still was dropping mid-30s even while getting tagged. Incidentally, I found out the M16 gets outdueled if the first grouping doesn't kill.
I think introducing ohk weapons in a game with this slow of a ttk was a mistake in general. Headshots should be the only time you get a one hit kill as long as the weapons handle smooth and the ads timing is fast. As they handle currently it'd probably kill snipers and no one would use them but that's what happens when you wanna make a slow ttk game and put op ohk weapons in it without a single thought about balance just to please the cod players
Glad they didn’t nerf movement too much tbh. It’s still core to how the game plays. If the game relied entirely on map knowledge and gunskill there’d be nothing but people holding head glitch peek spots and I don’t think it’d be fun if they did that either. (I know it’s not actual head glitch but that’s what we called it back in the day)
I can confirm the jump nerf didn't do squat! Unless the penalty is on the second or 3rd jump, nothing will change. Netcode is also still trash...lol. Only the sniper flinch is an effective nerf.
The update did nothing to impact jump spam or sniper flinch. The jump sway needs to be on the second jump not the fuckin fourth. No magazine lasts as long as 4 jumps

4 jumps will make no difference. At that point, most gunfights are over. It should kick in at the third jump.

It needs to be second, not third jump. If someone jumped a 3rd time, inwas already dead and they were shooting my corpse as it feel cuz they didnt realise i was already dead. I think after the 2nd will be the sweet spot

Sniper flinch is huge. That alone gives the game more longevity for me.
I agree, I had no problem with the bunny hopping or being outgunned if I try to lone wolf. The lack of flich on snipers is what made me go play Killer Klowns From Outer Space The Game. When I get home I now plan to play again and see how the game feels.

I can definitely confirm one single update did not solve the netcode issues; Is it better? Yeah, maybe a little. Do I still get shot through walls, dump A LOT of rounds into someone before they die, and get 100 point kill "assists" on players I dealt all the damage to? Yes.
I've noticed plenty of instances of the opposite: getting a hitmarker and not even earning an assist when my teammates killed my target.

Sniper flinch is unequivocally and unarguably a good addition, 10/10 work. The jump/crouch spam penalty is also 100% needed and a great addition, the only change needed imo is that it should kick in earlier, bc after the third jump the gunfight is already over 90% of the time. Should kick in after the second jump imo, that way you can do your initial jump around a corner which is totally reasonable, then one more after that before being penalized

It actually kicks in on the 4th. You can make 3 consecutive jumps in a row before the sway penalty kicks in.

I can usually adapt just fine with gunplay like in XDefiant (even before the patch) but man playing FPS games now is so annoying. it's all just about jumps and slides and being as fast as possible.

The biggest issue in my opinion with the bunny hop spammers wasn’t that they could spam jumping itself, it’s that they can shift directions mid air. When I’m tracking someone through the air as they jump to the right, my brain understands the physics of where he’s gonna land based off of muscle memory, playtime etc, but NOT when they can start jumping right, then as they start to come down they’re going back left in mid air… that needs addressed more so imo

its super aggressive ive played and tested alot today and being in close range and getting sprayed at makes it close to impossible to shot enemys especially if they hit multiple shots because every single shot will make you flinch that hard. I personally think they should have just made it a 1 time flinch which would already make it hard enough to stay on target while being in ads. just my thoughts tho i personally enjoy sniping since bo2 but i dont think any COD had this extreme flinch for snipers. And nobody really cared back then but it seems like now people are too soft to understand that a snipers still needs to hit their shot for it to be a kill and missing makes you extremely vulnerable thats why they always yappin "Snipers are 2 op" well then go back to Black OPs 2 or 3 and play against a good sniper there lets see how much youll rage then because back then snipers had fast ads and only a little flinch which made it easy to land quickscopes

I hope the netcode is drasctically changed with this update. Athough one update usually doesn't do the trick the fact that this was a known issue since before the game even came out is kinda unaccetable that it was at this level to even begin with.

That camera shake patch note is straight up lying because they specifically said it shouldn't shake when not taking damage, but quick test in firing range and I found multiple examples where my camera still shakes despite taking 0 damage.
You can reliably reproduce a scenario where you don't even have a nade indicator on your screen yet the camera still shakes. Go to firing range and throw a nade behind the desk on your right, then move away until you see no nade indicator - the camera still shakes despite nade being behind cover (so it deals 0 damage to you regardless of distance) and so far away it physically cannot hurt you.
It just isn't true that damage makes the screen shake, even though the patch notes say so. Screen shake is still based on the distance from the explosion, and it looks inconsistent as well.
Why is no one talking about the grenade indicators?
It shows up red all the time, where it doesn't hurt you when it blows up. The obvious example is if the grenade is at a wall, and you are hugging that wall on the other side, then it will show up red on your hud. But it shouldn't be red, as you get no damage - honestly the indicator shouldn't even be there at all. It happens all the time with small pieces of damage - and more often than not, you have to guess/see where the grenade actually is.
I wonder what the ratio of console to PC players are in relation to the people who are ok with the B-hopping vs not ok...
Might be a hot take but i think an overlooked component is also the framerate difference between pc and console. PC players get a better reaction time window due to more frames displaying, updating the player with more accurate information. I think its an overlooked component (not the whole problem but a piece of it).
I been playing it for about 5 days and I’m loving it. I find it challenging, maybe bc I’m not very good (yet) but I see myself putting good time into it. Though connection can be frustrating at times, it’s a fun game!

Them adding TDM will definitially give me reason to play it more, I've not played much as I'm not a massive fan of the modes but something as simple as TDM will be hugely enjoyable atleast for me.
Only note is I thing the camera thing you mention is not actually a camera, but is Jäger's ADS from R6, this will shoot down grenades and throwables I think. Also I think the shield will have a flashbang ability but I have no idea how that'll work compared to Phantom's shield, I assume just something you can maybe press once or twice while holding it with the ability button.

I'm Seriously Impressed a MAP a month. That what sold me on this game.
Can tell you never played Seige lol. The riot shield has a strobe flash on the front and you can use a pistol while holding the shield, the “wall camera” is basically a trophy system. Should be great for objective modes like control. Great vid as always, bhop nerf feels underwhelming, the sniper nerf looks good but haven’t been able to play yet.

Always play the objective. AK-47, M16, MP7 are very strong K/D doesn’t matter. Win/Loss and Avg Skill Rating are the important stats.

The problem is the change in direction mid air. This patch does nothing.
Quite surprisingly i think this is a good update by ubisoft. They didn't fully caved to the low skill cod players but they also made some necessary changes that were needed. Hopefully future updates are going to done in a similar manner.

Good. the Devs kept their word on the aim stagger mechanic they mentioned was going to be implemented for the bunny hoppers. I dont know if it will do much but from the looks of things they will be missing alot of their shots. I can see the amount of player base dropping because of this mechanic alone or they can bite the bullet and learn how to play another way. Either way good on the Devs. As far as Factions is concerned, They need to bring Wolves, Black Tusk and Hyenas back since they removed them from closed beta. I know the Wolves would be the direct counter to Phantoms since they play the same. but we'll see how it fairs

The sniper flinch seems a little too extreme tbh, and I doubt the bunny hopping is gonna be any different when you can still get 3 hops without a penalty. Most gunfights don't last 3 hops
They should’ve made the sniper flinch either linear with the number of shots hit with or maybe even logarithmic to reward players for hitting snipers with more shots. But if each time you’re hit you flinch the same it’ll kill the snipers. I’m boutta log in for the first time in a few so I’ll check it out
I’ve noticed, pre and post patch, that after 5-6 games played my connection starts to degrade. Hit-reg, aim assist, and desync. After completely closing the game, that seems to refresh things pretty consistently.

Just add a recoil multiplier when you're jumping and shooting. That would have solved most of the issues with excessive b-hopping.

I'm still getting disconnected due to "poor local connection quality" despite the fact my internet is flawless.
I know my internet is working fine because: #1 As I see that red connection warning on the upper left hand side of my screen: I'll ALT-TAB, open up Chrome, and load a TH-cam video instantly (in total taking less than 3 seconds.) #2 No other game disconnects me: it's only XDefiant.
This is a major issue for me because the longer game modes like Escort or Zone Control take a LONG time to complete, and all it takes is a single disconnect for me to lose ALL of my progress in a match.
A fix would be to change the way the game handles spikes of poor connection. Rather than completely kicking me from the match and forcing me to reconnect all the way from the start menu: simply reconnect / re-establish a connection in the same match. Never completely kick me, and punish me for something completely out of my control.
It could be an issue with resolving IP6 addresses, NAT translation issues, or maybe some port forwarding issues in the router firewall.
@@coolbrotherf127 For additional context, I'm running on ethernet, with 300mbps up & down, have verified the games files multiple times, and have XDefiant set to: "run as administrator" every time I open it. Whenever I play XDefiant I close all background apps like Steam.

I think the jump fatigue should start after the first jump. It makes sense irl and this change probably won't fix the spamming issue. But at least they're acknowledging it and trying things without trying to drastically change the game too quickly.

A small issue I picked up is that when using a variable scope it resets to the lower zoom every life, this is so frustrating to have to reset every life to the higher zoom
As a sniper, I've found something concerning as well. If you fire and hit the enemy right as you get killed, it'll show the hit marker but do 0 damage to them, even from a full-power tac 50 upper torso. It's like the netcode issues ONLY helps other players. I've yet to be on the "winning" side of that netcode.

Honestly for me if the net code wasn't so bad for how fast this game can play I would be fine with the bunny hopping even without the nerf.
I just have so many clips where even though I am dead center on them the whole time I get 0 hit reg because where they are on my screen is not necessarily where they actually are according to the server and they are always bunny hopping to get/maintain thier maximum momentum. It does make me wonder if it is impossible for servers to accurately maintain such fast game play that you can achieve in this game.

It is absolutely not brutal; I'm only slightly above-average, and I still was dropping mid-30s even while getting tagged. Incidentally, I found out the M16 gets outdueled if the first grouping doesn't kill.
I think introducing ohk weapons in a game with this slow of a ttk was a mistake in general. Headshots should be the only time you get a one hit kill as long as the weapons handle smooth and the ads timing is fast. As they handle currently it'd probably kill snipers and no one would use them but that's what happens when you wanna make a slow ttk game and put op ohk weapons in it without a single thought about balance just to please the cod players

If the game relied entirely on map knowledge and gunskill there’d be nothing but people holding head glitch peek spots and I don’t think it’d be fun if they did that either.
