Yes, I agree. My brother was in a divorce for 3 to 4 years. That is a long time to have to be alone. To allow some documents, a lagging court system, and sometimes a confrontational ex, to hold back the reins on your happiness, would be a disservice to self. This is especially so for someone who is getting out of an abusive relationship. I think it is crazy for people to expect a young person not to date after 1, 2, 3, years plus, after a relationship has ended.

He is going to be a great guy for someone. He handles confrontations and disagreements very maturely. People have to give him grace. It has been over a year, and his ex-wife has moved on with somebody else. He clearly wants a partner. Life is too short, and tomorrow isn't promised. I've seen divorces take 3 years, 4 years, and on. We only get so many years on this earth to be wasting it over paperwork, rules, and sometimes attitude. If both parties agree that it is over, and it has been more than a year, and one has already formed a new relationship, then it is over. Only he knows if he is ready to pursue a new partner, but it is not for us to decide. He appears to be a little vulnerable, and I pray that whomever she is does not take advantage of that. 🙏

If you separated / going through divorce, you really need to have finalized before moving on, but divorces sometimes take a minute. I agree with the johyko you need to be upfront with things like that because some people might be ok with it and some may not, like her. Yes, I agree. My brother was in a divorce for 3 to 4 years. That is a long time to have to be alone. To allow some documents, a lagging court system, and sometimes a confrontational ex, to hold back the reins on your happiness, would be a disservice to self. This is especially so for someone who is getting out of an abusive relationship. I think it is crazy for people to expect a young person not to date after 1, 2, 3, years plus, after a relationship has ended.
