Not sure if it’ll work but I get around the storage limitation by booting from a thunderbolt 3 NVME dock that has SSD speeds that basically meet or exceed M series SSD speeds. I’ve only ever tried it with 2TB SK Hynix SSD but I’m sure you could use it as additional memory and not even boot from the drive to increase your overall capacity.

This is something I would like to try if I can find the parts reasonable. Not an apple user so not willing to pay apple prices. If I could upgrade one it may make it worth it.

Question to all professionals and KingSener. Wouldn't it make sense to invent a chip socket where you can simply put the NANDs in and clamp them in place? You would only have to solder once. Then you wouldn't have to solder anymore and you could change the RAM and storage more quickly.

@@kingsener It's never a good idea to do this, trapped air in between the heatsink and cpu can affect cooling. You performed much harder work than cleaning the top of a cpu and adding new compound....
