Bernie has been writing about how understaffed they are for a while. I started checking the org charts of other teams and the Cards stood out as the extreme outlier on the comparisons. I didn't realize just how bad it was though until Katie's EXCELLENT piece came out today. Wow, that was some impressive journalism! Well done Katie! Now I'm thinking Bloom will need more than just a couple of months to get all of the pieces identified and put into play, so give him all next year to fix the farm. He should have the new Director named shortly, I'd think, and then they can get to work. After next season, the wheels should be in motion, and he could then take over POBO. Now we really are going to have to be patient, though. I don't see this starting to pay off until '28 or '29 though.
I haven’t heard Katy Woo or anyone else address the fact that the timeline for the slow decline of our internal minor league tech and coaching resources vs. other teams coincides perfectly with multiple hundred million dollar investments in BPV. Starting around 2010-2014 this organization has been more interested in real estate development than maintaining a top notch organization top to bottom…With a few exceptions, Mo has been living off the legacy of the Lunhow era fumes when things actually worked. Complacency, a little arrogance and greedy distractions are to blame.
If Dewitt is planning on running MO back as POBO and the entire on the field staff he better be prepared for season ticket and suite hits in volume. The fans aren't going to buy it.
It's about damned time the media is doing their job instead of carrying water for the brass. It's been infuriating listening to the likes of Karraker and Kilcoyne doing interviews with Dewitt and Mo and avoiding asking anything near a real question!
Just think what could have been if they took the 100 million they spent for Bobblehead Seekers in 2014 on Ballpark Village and put it into the actual BASEBALL TEAM? 😑👈
Great POD today. Insanity if huge changes are not made to ALL aspects of the offense. I will wait till the presser to comment. If MO is allowed to make all decisions in 25 forget it. They are done for several years.
I’ve believed for a while that the team should be willing to hire more and better coaching staff. There are no salary cap implications on coaches and great coaches are WAY CHEAPER than great players. If you can hire coaches for even $2-3M that make average pitchers and hitters better, it’s way cheaper than hiring Cy Young pitching or MVP hitters.
JD the Cards have made drastic changes. Starting three years ago it became all about analytics with no exceptions…. therefore firing the then successful manager. There are specific reason the Cardinal hitters have no plate discipline. Nothing going to change without a change in philosophy.
This was an exceptional explanation on why things are so bad right now with the organization and player development. Honestly, this shows extreme arrogance and short sightedness from the front office. Well Karma comes around and in this case it did with attendance woes and loss of star potential players. No wonder Yadi didn’t show his face this season.
The biggest problem I have with OIL being the manger is I REALLY believe he don't care about the organization. If you have paid attention the last month, why has he continued to play Guys like Goldschmidt and other veterans. When they were clearly out of the hunt. He should have been playing the young guys to see what we have, but no he just continued on with the same vets. and guys like Scott, Saggaese sit the bench and Gorman remains in the minors. and we see Sian, Carpenter, Mikolas and Matz. The team continues to struggle to score runs but does he Move Goldschmidt and Arenado down in the order no. He has done a good job with bullpen. But that doesn't override all the other faults
Mo said the stadium has to be filled before they can turn things around earlier this season, I hope he doesn’t have the same mindset, if that is still the mindset the cardinals organization is going to be dismal.
The curse of mike shildt since then we been on the declining end marmol isnt the guy to manage his line up isnt bad he dont put them in the right position figurelivity and literally if guy hot put him up in line up hes slump bottom regardless of contracts we trying to win the vets will get it
if no one gets fired it further validates that the Cardinal management is so into analytics they can’t get their heads out of their delusional thinking.
With m a n y Cardinals fans, patience is low, but I am predicting that the rapid transformation that we are all wanting is not going to occur like a flick of a light switch. It took a while for the internal system’s catastrophic collapse to reveal itself and I predict it is going to take a while to build back up to legendary status…assuming it does. Ladies and gentlemen of the Cardinals lore… we need to remember that Rome was not built in a day!
I’m no Oli fan…but I agree he hasn’t done horrible. Even Mo delivered on the pitching. And I really hate saying that. Though the pitching wasn’t great it was good enough to win the division. These guys hit… heck 250 with RISP and we are probably in the playoffs.
I got to a point where every time Mikolas was on the bump I'd say to myself, whelp, we've got to score at least five runs to even have a chance of winning tonight.
Yeah, I disagree with you about oli, and I was complaining about him during the playoff season, and his stupid pitching call cost us that playoff series, and since he's coming back I will not purchase season tickets for my second year. But I loved the video
I know I'll probably get hate for this, but I agree, I don't think Ollie has done a terrible job. I think the problems the Cardinals have are deeper and fall on other parts of the organization. But I think how Ollies been running the team during games has been pretty solid. Sure, occasionally he makes a bonehead move, like they all do. But just going off of how I feel having watched the games, I don't feel like he Made as many bad decisions as previous coaches. With Schilt and Matheny I remember a lot of times thinking to myself, "why did he pull that guy?" Or "why did he put that guy in?" I've had a lot less of those moments with Ollie.
And they've totally SCREWED UP Jordan Walker.....if I was JW, I would go back to being ME! And not listen to the Cardinals "hitting coaches " at all. I feel so bad for JW.
I told mo , the front office B4 the season started you didn't do enough ,made more bad signings. That was a no brainer .😂😂 You didn't learn from your mistakes in 2023 ,2024.

It’s a wheel that does not need re-inventing! Cards need to get back to the basics!!! Good grief how can the Cardinal organization forget their roots!!
Fire the manager and his coaches except for Willie! Bloom needs to take over after last game of the season! Sign Skip and let him bring in his coaches like Jon Jay!
Respectfully disagree. It’s on Dewitt. When you’re only given x amount of dollars for roster, staff and minor league you’re screwed. I want to know if DeWitt or Mo was behind Schildt being fired.
@@zantar2482 because DeWitt won’t pay for top players. Mo has most definitely made mistakes no doubt about it, but how many other GMs have had only 1 losing seasons? Only thing I have to say is that if DEWITT isn't going to get rid of the manager, the hitting coach and MO, and then on top of it not spend any $$$ this offseason, attendance at the beginning of next season is gonna look just like it did at the end of this season!! Bill DeWitt has lost any passion he once had!! Time to sell the team to someone who'll give a damn!!!
JD, the Tigers send their players back down to the Minors for instruction all the time, and look what that team is doing this year. Multiple players in their starting lineup here at the end of the season spent time in Toledo earlier this year. Why do you make a statement that the StL "coaching staff" cannot seem to fix these guys? I've heard you say similar things multiple times this year. That is an unreasonable position to be taking. It is the Minor league's responsibility to fix players, not the MLB team's staff. The MLB staff is there to keep the plane flying fast at 20000 feet, not to practice take-offs and landings. The MLB-level problem the past 2 seasons is .... and you still avoid the core problem by bringing up all the side issues ...... is Mozeliak, and his analytics. He pushes players up too quickly who aren't ready, based on numbers that might be good against the talent level of Minor league players, but that doesn't translate to anywhere near the same against MLB caliber opponents (Walker being a perfect example). And Mo's talent scouting staff is not finding the best talented 2-way athletes to sign and put into our Minor leagues for development, they are obviously being told to focus on finding hard-swinging home run hitters, and that's what gets players to AAA Memphis. And then we bring up to MLB those hitters as weak defenders on the field who "don't do the little things right", like when our outfielders should not be throwing the ball to home plate every time a runner is scoring from second and there's no chance of throwing the guy out. In the Minors, that might result in an outfielder assist/throw out, but not the same in MLB play. You throw to 2B, to keep a double-play possibility alive with the next hitter. We let their prior batter advance to 2B far too often on the throw home, which helps the opponents score more runs against us. And Mo's analytics far too often puts our defenders in the wrong position on the field, so we give up too many hits even before those throws are made, which also scores more runs against us. Mozeliak's the problem. Look at what "philosophical differences" Mike Shildt is doing in San Diego this season, without being hamstrung by Mo's analytics - on both offense AND defense. I don't need to hear all that stuff from Woo. The StL problem is obvious, it's Mo's organization and direction. He should not be on the job in 2025 (nor should Bloom, who is a younger spitting image of Mo, based on his time in TB and Boston, especially the latter where he did his utmost to lower payrolls at the expense of talent). Mo's Minor league staff isn't teaching the game, they tell the players to just swing for the fences. The franchise is scrimping on salaries all the way up and down the organization, not providing monetary incentive to players and staff to go above and beyond at the little things. Carlson even said as much, in veiled language, in an interview after the trade to Tampa Bay, when he said it would be nice if players "heard" more positives when they do things well in StL. He was talking about money. When our players go to other teams and do well, it's because they see the opportunity to earn more money in those organizations than they would in StL. Because the old cardinals are dieing off and coach's are instilling there style of baseball ⚾️ in the organization, youngsters used to talk to gibby ,brock, stan ,getting tips no more
Frame it anyway you want, Goldschmidt and Arenado absolutely torpedoed this season. Throw in the abysmal showings from Gorman and Walker, there was never a chance.
So no changes next year being horrible again will be totally excusable like always! The Cardinals are so bad they need to just tear it all down and start over completely fresh!!
@@Wilco1972 you can't convince me there's anyone to this day that had the eye for talent and seeing a player that could develop into a major leader like whitey Herzog. And the tradition for seeing into the future of a ball player began with Red. Tony larussa was good at it but he was no whitey Herzog please tell me who in this organization has the eye for talent anywhere close to any of these guys. Can I ask you that not as a challenge I asked you because I'd really like to know if there is someone we have that is that good at talent scout. I could be just ignorant on the matter and I'll accept that if I am
Im going to tell you the same thing I told others... their farm system isn't broken they hit on probably more than other teams. Their farm system is ranked 19th at the moment which makes them the best of the worst. LOL. I debated you about this and you honestly disagreed. You traded away yet another great player in TOMMY for a rental below average starter. MO has traded away minor league player as patch jobs trying to make the playoffs. Many of those players hit BIG LEAGUE which proves the Cardinals have drafted a lot of good players. The problems with the Cardinals are they don't go with this MODEL... SIGN SUPERSTAR PITCHER TO FILL #1 and #2 and let the rest of the staff come from the FARM. 60 million on two pitchers and cost control on the next three. Instead they keep giving tired vets 12 to 20 million. Doesn't work. The biggest problem with the Cardinals farm system this year they should have been SELLERS AGAIN! Had they done that they might have shed some payroll and improved the farm system. If the farm system gets another draft under their belt and become sellers in the winter, or at the trade deadline again next season their farm system will right back top 15. The real problem here isn't the farm system its MO TRADING AWAY the GOOD PLAYERS THEY DO DEVELOPE OR HIS LACK OF UNDERSTANDING WHICH YOUNG PLAYERS TO KEEP OR TRADE! He's clearly not the Tampa Rays.
I feel like our farm system is actually one of the biggest problems, and as a result we end up doing what you said at the end which is trade away what end up being good/serviceable players. We actually don't trade a lot of top prospects at all, as a matter of fact the last real big trade we had with some decent prospects was the Ozuna trade, we traded Alcantara, Gallen, and Sierra. But, people tend to forget with their 20-20 hindsight that out of those three players, Sierra was actually the "top prospect" all the way at #6 in the system. Gallen wasn't even top ten and Alcantara was at #9 but had a 4+ era with us when he did pitch. So, if you ask me, the problem is actually our farm system's INABILITY to develop players as well as we used to. We have a surprisingly small coaching staff compared to other minor league teams, and as a result our "top prospects" constantly look underprepared and end up being "busts." But then what happens? We trade them away to a team with more resources dedicated to development and sure enough, they become Cy young candidates, 30 homer outfielders, etc. etc. I mean shit, there was a time where when our big league guys had problems, we actually sent them to the minors to be "fixed" by Mark the "Buddha" or whatever his name was lol, and then they'd come back up raking. Now its the opposite, they come back up and still look completely lost. I think that is our biggest problem, because with BD3 we will never be signing big time free agents, and to be quite frank, most of them don't want to live and play for St. Louis compared to the other "glamorous" areas. We have always gotten by with top notch development, super strong fundamentals, and filling the gaps when needed on cheaper but good players that we make great with our philosophies. But that's all gone with this terrible FO and Marmol. So fire them, get some more life injected into our coaching in the minors and develop our players to be better when they come up and not fizzle out after .5-1 good season.
With all due respect JD, The St. Louis Cardinals shouldn't be looking to teams like the Brewers and the Guardians for inspiration. The last time one of those teams won a World series was 76 years ago. It's a testament to how miserable the leadership is on this franchise that they are in a position to look up to those teams. The management hasn't put a real contender on the field since 2013, eleven seasons the last two of which have been miserable. They had their chance to right this ship anytime in that window. I have absolutely no interest in waiting for this team to go through a rebuild, I've got better things to do with my time and money!
The Front Office People that have easily admitted this teams deterioration please just leave Go find another career all bull crap to the side us fans especially JD doesn't deserve this.
We all know the people who should be fired, but does it really matter? The Dewitts will just replace them with similar people. We need an owner who wants to win.
If I ever ran into Mo on the street.........put it this way, I'd have to be bailed out the next morning. He's been a cancer for years. Jockey was the man....I'm still pissed about Schildt getting fired. I could run the Cardinals way better than Mo.....he probably didn't even play High School baseball.
GET READY… The Cardinals are going TANK MODE! Please STOP using the term best fans in baseball St Louis are NOT the best fans in baseball. The Cubs are bad but their fans are still showing up. The ownership learned this year that if they dont’ win the fans will ditch the team. I personally believe the Dewitt family is going to strip this down to THE BONE so they can sell the the team CLEAN SLATE! I have been right about everything single I’ve posted on your page… I said don’t trade Tommy bad trade I was right. I said last year we should have traded Nolan and Goldy… I said they this team needs a reset. I said Sonny Gray isn’t an ACE and that was a bad signing because it will KILL their ability to recover from paying that guy 25 to 30 million. I said signing Lynn and Gibson was a waste of money and we should have GONE AFTER TWO TOP TWO GUYS and balanced the rest of the rotation with farm hands. This is all just common sense… now you’ve come to realization that everything has failed. They also know they’re not going to get 500 million from the city… it’s time to sell. What better way to do it than clean house and offer the new ownership a BLANK SLATE? Trust me because I’ll be proven right again… the Cardinals will be for sale! The dad is old super old, the son really isn’ t that interested, you’re estate planning right now and I promise you the team is for sale. The whole thing about a renovation to the stadium… this family has done this THREE TIMES BEFORE… did upgrades to stadiums then sold their interest. Trust me the Cardinals are FOR SALE!
Schlidt turned the Padres into a WS contender in 1 freaking yr look at how far we fell after he left SMH but I figured he stay if MO is staying till 25 is over
I think the cardinals players have done great and I think Oli Marmol has done great as well I think after 2025 we need to find a better baseball of operations over the cardinals since they changed back in 2011 it has not been winning baseball for the cards they just need to change that in 2025
DeWitts…… no changes means low attendance means less money for you! Listen to Cardinal nation. Get rid of Mo and Marmol. Let’s get back to Cardinal baseball or SELL the team.

Because the old cardinals are dieing off and coach's are instilling there style of baseball ⚾️ in the organization, youngsters used to talk to gibby ,brock, stan ,getting tips no more
Can anyone else hear the feedback from his microphone?
Frame it anyway you want, Goldschmidt and Arenado absolutely torpedoed this season. Throw in the abysmal showings from Gorman and Walker, there was never a chance.
So no changes next year being horrible again will be totally excusable like always! The Cardinals are so bad they need to just tear it all down and start over completely fresh!!
Red, whitey, and Tony knew good players. No one in the organization has their skills. Tony is the only one who can come back
This organization knows who the good players are. They’re just unwilling to go get them, instead we get five guys in their mid-thirties.
Fire Mo or suffer the consequences
There gonna have to strip it down to the studs and start over that’s the reality of it
Yeah, this is no new news. We already knew this.
The Front Office People that have easily admitted this teams deterioration please just leave Go find another career all bull crap to the side us fans especially JD doesn't deserve this.
We all know the people who should be fired, but does it really matter? The Dewitts will just replace them with similar people. We need an owner who wants to win.
HITTING COACH NEEDS TO GO
If he dont resign subday night. Who gives a F
Jocketty
So all the coaches are back for next season. That means another season of losing baseball
Schlidt turned the Padres into a WS contender in 1 freaking yr look at how far we fell after he left SMH but I figured he stay if MO is staying till 25 is over
Did he make us a World Series contender when he was here?
Answer NO!
@dancrum739 where we a playoff team with a chance yes SMH get 🤦 your knowledge yep son
Sheer arrogance, JD. That's how we got here.
Get rid of mo
I think the cardinals players have done great and I think Oli Marmol has done great as well I think after 2025 we need to find a better baseball of operations over the cardinals since they changed back in 2011 it has not been winning baseball for the cards they just need to change that in 2025
DeWitts…… no changes means low attendance means less money for you! Listen to Cardinal nation. Get rid of Mo and Marmol. Let’s get back to Cardinal baseball or SELL the team.
They havent been a deep run playoff capable team since they fired Mike Matheny 🤷♂️
get rid of the WOKE BS
Dang...folks will be getting fired today
