      I read half of the James Tynion run on Detective Comics Rebirth (the omni is called Batman: The Rise and Fall of the Batmen) omnibus in 3 days. It was that entertaining.

    I always tried to force myself to knock out at least 4 "chapters" per sitting, but I cant help myself looking over every individual panel's art top to bottom twice or thrice. An annoying "i can't just move on, look at this!" mentality 😅

    I read before I go to sleep. I typically read 2-3 issues a night. So an omnibus with 30 issues usually takes me about 2 weeks to get through.

  • @TheOtherMJ_76
    @TheOtherMJ_76 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I mean, that’s entirely up to the person. I myself typically read two issues a sitting. Regardless of the quality of the book. It is rare for me to buy a book that I’m not anticipating though. So I guess for me, it takes a few weeks if I read some everyday.

      @@KGCMX Same here. I have often struggled to read more than a handful of individual chapters/issues of something a day. I also used to only read one thing at a time. But recently I've found that I can read a handful of manga chapters, a few omnibus issues, and a few issues of some other comic (often from Marvel Unlimited or w/e) and I now read WAY more than before (even though it oddly doesn't feel like it).

    Such a great question and video topic. Another great video Gem! What are you currently reading though? You should do videos on that. Turn into a semi "book club". I'm sure the engagement would be great on it. Also let people know what you're reading next. I know there's a lot of people (like me) who really enjoy your Omnibus and Collected Editions videos. I like hearing other's opinions and thoughts on books either before I wind up buying it or start reading it. I don't often pre-order Hardcovers yet cuz I'm still catching up on all the OOP titles since I just started collecting Omnis in February last year.
    A goal I have by the end of the year is to start doing pre-orders.

    Depends entirely on you (us). Which I do agree with your points. There's times where I'm knocking things down then some were its taking a while. Personal life plays a part. I'd always say "I'll be much further if i kept my same monemetum." But my goal is two issues per day. Maybe 2 issue early on, one mid day, then two maybe three at night. Entirely depends on my enjoyment of the book.

    It depends how much I want to absorb the whole thing. Sometimes I read 10 pages, stop to do something else, then when I go back, I read those 10 pages again. Then I flip slowly through those same pages to enjoy the art. Now other omnis, I’ve read in like 2 weeks.

    For me, it depends on the era. The few Golden Age books I have, took me a while. Those were rough to get through because they were dated for me. I just starred reading Uncanny X-men vol. 1 yesterday, and I'm halfway through. But my favorite comics are mid-70s to mid-90s.

  • @germaholic
    @germaholic ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd say it usually takes a week for me to read an omnibus. More modern stuff, maybe less time. Venom by Donnie Cates, I read in 3 days. Moon Knight by Huston etc., took me 4 days. I don't have any golden age omnibuses, but I Have golden age trades, and they take me forever to get through, not just because of the dense and dated writing, but because I'll read a few issues, then read other stuff, then a while later I'd read a few more issues, rinse and repeat. Golden Age stuff can be okay for me in small doses, but yeah, no way I'm plowing through that.

    What seems odd when reading an omnibus is that once you reach the half way point they go by really fast.

    • @TheImmortalCC
      @TheImmortalCC ปีที่แล้ว

      I might be dumb but I think it has to do with the extras in the back. I’ve noticed some Omnis have up to 50 pages of extras in the back so if you look at the bookmark and it’s “halfway” it’s actually 2-3 issues more than halfway

    • @2ndstreetmarvel
      @2ndstreetmarvel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheImmortalCC that’s not dumb, you’re right in that aspect. But in just the stories alone it seems to go faster past the halfway point.
      Could be because the one is more invested and hitting a stride, I suppose, but the last half always seems to go by faster.
      I also definitely agree with what he said about older stories as opposed to newer stories. The old ones were pretty much a whole story contained in one book, therefore more dense, as opposed to newer stories that I can seem to breeze through. Which I think really started in the late 80s, and progressed through the 90s. Once you get to the modern stuff the pages fly by.

    • @TheImmortalCC
      @TheImmortalCC ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@2ndstreetmarvel Yeah there is definitely lots of aspects. Cause even with older books there are pages with not that many words. And for modern runs I’m reading the Miles Morales omnibus Vol 1 and am over halfway after just 1 day. And that run has LOTS of splash pages with not as many words. So it really is just an issue by issue basis.

    Something written by Stan Lee? I only read the key issues. To me, the older comics are so boring, and the characters so 1 dimensional. Something by Grant Morris, Ed Brubaker, Garth Ennis? I'll read through pretty quickly because I actually really enjoy the stories.
