    Regarding the Neutral VS In-gear debate. I live in Los Angeles California. Drivers this way are very unpredictable and drive reckless due to tecting and driving, drinking, etc. Neutral is better for (gas, less engine wear, etc). Being in gear in "heavy traffic & freeway" is most best. Now on street, or less traffic different story. Hope this helps explain some on why I like coasting in gear then in neutral

    • @FallenExify
      @FallenExify 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What does drivers being reckless have to do with being in gear? 99% of peoples manual cars aren't fast enough to accelerate away from potential danger

    • @ChristianHudnell
      @ChristianHudnell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FallenExify If you arent in gear and need to speed up or change speed you can;t in neutral, everyone has their own preferences but I would rather be able to speed up and move then but stuck. Appreciate comment and being in neutral is good in amny ways. But during "heavy traffic in cali not for me. Now when traffic is different then different story. I have been in a few situations where i have had to avoid and being in gear helped me

    When I'm heavy traffic I try to be smooth as possible and not to ride the clutch. I learnt what the minimum speed in each gear before the car shakes. For example if I'm in 3rd and I see there's a traffic jam I rev match into 2nd. The lowest speed I can achieve without bogging the engine is 8km/h. And sometimes I'll go as high as 4k rpm between shifts in heavy traffic....btw I drive a Civic Si

    • @ChristianHudnell
      @ChristianHudnell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each time you engage and lift clutch its essentially doing wear and tear on the car. While car is in neutral and you aren't engagin clutch you are saving clutch however you put more stress on brakes. Basically with a manual its a give and take in that something for most part is being used just a matter of being manageable with car and being smooth

    • @parth3650
      @parth3650 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's best to do it right before you release the clutch because you're meant to release it as the rpms are dropping. The time it takes from blipping and then changing would be too long and you'll probably end up jerking the car.

      If it's an emergency just brake, forget about the clutch or the shifter. If you want to brake hard but it's not exactly an emergency, just hold the clutch down while you're braking it doesn't matter what gear you're in, the connection from the transmission to the engine is disengaged

    If going 120 in 6th can I just there shift to 5th without reducing the speed ??
    5th optimum is to 90kmh

    • @ChristianHudnell
      @ChristianHudnell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ahhhh, ill see if I can do a video showcasing the speed, you can essentially shift in any gear at any speed however the lower the gear the higher the RPM needs to be and more strain on car when downshifting. :)

    • @nonofyourbusinessnonofyour5435
      @nonofyourbusinessnonofyour5435 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      New to shifting so any video showing speedometer and rpm is a bonus for new guys.
      If going 120kmh in 6th gear what can you do at that point? could you downshift to 5th with rev match or should we slow down more before attempting downshift to 5th? And how many gears is necessary to shift down at high speed to gain torque for overtaking if I’m in 6th

    Idk man I'll write more on this comment maybe but I highly disagree about keeping your car in gear always when its rolling 2:05

    • @ChristianHudnell
      @ChristianHudnell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I probably should have explained reasoning a bot better my apologies. I meant more so in "traffic" situations and on the highway. Living in California unfortunately there are many drivers who are unpredicatable on the road. Many cars at times swerve into your lane without looking, text and drive, and there are debris on highways often. When I am coming to a stop in stop and go, I go to neutral and at times being in neutral can be best.
      However, was simply implyinh "I" like to be in gear as much as I can without just rolling in neutral because in neutral if something happens you must then shift into a gear to give gas and move car.

    • @austinmiller6837

      If the car is moving it should be in gear. The only time you depress the clutch is when the car is not moving or to change gears. Even when the car is not moving in traffic situations you should be in first gear and ready to move.

    How you gonna learn all this and not ruin the clutch you have no choice
    I’m learning heel and toe and I’m getting better all the time but also many times I give too much or too little gas so it’s not so smooth but that’s the process eventually you change the clutch 700$

    • @ChristianHudnell
      @ChristianHudnell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Non of your business Non of your business honestly it’s true and error. Like I said. Most should brake to stop instead of downshifting when learning to drive a stick. Someone should feel confident with the grab point and process of shifting a bit first. Then slowly work toward downshifting. Replacing the clutch is something most manual cars will inevitably need to do. But practice makes perfect for sure :)

    • @nonofyourbusinessnonofyour5435
      @nonofyourbusinessnonofyour5435 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SubZeru Vlogs yes that’s what I was getting at if you new to stick shift without practice you can’t learn fast enough and probably you will wear out clutch faster in that period because you learning so you should expect to change clutch sooner I don’t see other way around it

    "it's hard to go from netrual to a gear" seriously learn how to drive. Going from netural to a gear while rolling is fairly simple, bad advice.

      Banju Yt lol I don’t get why these guys still in Cali. The worst state to modify cars. Cops take a look at your custom wheels, the next second car gets state reffed
