My brother John on his death bed was given the last rite of extreme unction. When the priest held up the Host my brother who had been in a coma for several days put out his tongue to receive Communion. The priest nudged me - did you see that? Your brother just received the Holy Communion spiritually. He did receive the Communion spiritually. And by opening his mouth and putting his tongue out he proved it so. This experience brought me back to the Holy Roman Catholic Church. For this reason I prefer to receive Communion on my knees and by mouth and from the hands of a priest.

I remember as a child studying at school, studying to take our first only communion, once the priest put the blessed lord on your tongue you do not touch with your finger or tonque, you do not bite or chew. You leave and let it melt away it is the Christ.
When it was changed that you could take the host in your hands I never did, my teacher and priests words came flooding back. My last two parish priests have always given the host in on my tonque with no problem. I now have a new priest and he’s stands and looks at my hands as I stand with my tonque out. He is insistent that I take the host in my hands, I can not and never will.
Thank you for this I feel better for not giving in to what I was taught as a little girl.
That I am not breaking any rules.

Since the altar rails were removed as part of 'reordering' in the 1990s it has become increasingly difficult to receive Our Lord kneeling. It is now more than a year since I returned to receiving Holy Communion on the tongue. I have also stopped receiving the Precious Blood from the chalice. This is in part due to fear of letting the chalice fall, in part due to the ancient tradition of the church that only ordained priests or deacons are permitted to touch any of the sacred vessels. I visit Germany several times a year and I am pleased to report that there Communion is in one kind only - that is by receiving the consecrated Host. That is much more in line with the the hallowed tradition observed everywhere until the 1970s or even later.

    • @museluvr
      @museluvr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

This modernism in the US destroys of types of traditions, and seems it is now trying its best to do so with the Church. I see very few people in Mass accept is, while kneeling and on the tongue. I have to wait until April when baptized, but know exactly how I shall.. by note of tradition and respect for our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Communion on the knees and in our tongue, is more than just good "Etiquette" as some claim. It is a matter of respecting the first commandment. It is a matter of giving God all of our devotion and respect. It is about having a healthy fear and respect for our Lord Jesus. Present in the consecrated Host. Which after consecration by a validly ordained Catholic Priest, it then becomes the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him all the Honor and Glory, now and forever. AMEN.

Just came from mass an hour ago and if this particular purse they usually offer communion on the hand and everybody
However today so many people more than I've ever seen got on their knees and took me to know the tongue I just about started to weep.
After the final blessing I told another priest that I saw so many people kneel and pick him in on the tongue that it almost made me cry. The priest said whatever works for me.

It is God almighty we're talking about here. Kneeling and in the tongue is the ONLY FORM.

Where I am not Catholic.. yet, when Communion is done I receive a blessing until baptized Easter Sunday. In Mass, all will kneel upon returning to the pew.. though most take it by the hand. Very few by the mouth. The one lady who got me into deciding to change my faith, she receives it on the tongue.. not even a question with her. But after this talk, among others stressing proper protocol, I shall receive it on the tongue as well. It seems disrespectful otherwise.

There was a note in our bulletin that it is normative for our diocese to not kneel but to stand and bow profoundly or make some other sign of reverence. Receiving Communion on the tongue or in the hand are both considered normal. AFAIK nobody in our own parish has attempted to receive the Blessed Sacrament kneeling so it hasn't been an issue, but a message appearing in the bulletin for the diocese means the issue has been raised somewhere in the diocese.

i was just practically banned from the Mass of a priest because of Communion on the tongue last week . The priest claims that he was willing to give on the tongue but I think he was voicing to comply with the rules. However the rules did not stop him from making the act of communion on the tongue so difficult. He was always telling everyone before communion to be "CHA-Ri-Table" to the people who want to take communion on the hand. I emphasized it that way because tha is the way he says it with his booming voice. He wants those who prefer on the tongue to be at the end of the line which was okay if he didn't make it so embarrassing to do so. I felt like a spectacle as i was the only one who received on the tongue on a daily basis. I told him that I am so offended and have been receiving communion in the state of angst. He told me to go somewhere else. As he was saying this, he had a very big smile on his face, I felt a selfish smile. He reiterated: "Really! Ill be so happy if you go to another parish."😢😢😢

It's a pity that the Cardinal was not asked what disciplinary action should be taken regarding critical priests who punish the faithful if they kneel. why does the church also not provide kneelers? This is a punishment in itself as they are making the kneeling communicants as uncomfortable as possible... which is another disincentive to traditional reception.

One result of the Second Reformation, a/k/a the Second Vatican Council, was the removal of kneelers and, in some cases, the removal of many religious objects of the Old Church. A purge of The Church somewhat similar to the Reign of Terror. This, along with the Norvus Ordu with the celebrant turning his back to the altar, pop music and Communion in the hand drove me away from The Church for almost 40 years. Pope Benedict VXI won me back but I still refuse to take the Holy Eucharist in my hand and I still have no love of the "New Mass".

Two things: First, Vatican II did not cause a wild disregard for the council documents. That seems like a silly thing to say. The iconoclasm and liturgical abuse that followed the council is completely contrary to the spirit of Sacrosanctum Concilium.
Second, the Vatican never changed the orientation of the priest. Even now, the preferred direction is ad orientem. The only thing that changed is that priests were *allowed* to face the people for pastoral reasons. Unfortunately, you give people an inch and they will take a mile. Sacrosanctum Concilium also explicitly says that Gregorian chant is the language of choice of the Church, followed by polyphany, followed by hymns. Music that doesn't fall into one of those categories is not even mentioned, so we cannot blame its presence in the liturgy on the Council, or the Vatican, or any of our popes. It is entirely the fault of individual, rebellious bishops and priests (and some lay people).

So do you take a stand for communion on the tongue and kneeling? have you confronted your priest and bishop and asked them why they persists in causing desecration to the Host? Have you banned together with your fellow Catholics and gone as a group to confront the priest about the proper way to receive or just allow things to go on as usual and watch the desecrations take place.
You know if Catholics banned together and stood their ground none of these changes would have taken place. Quit funding a priest who shows no respect for Our Lord and watch how fast he would change. There are nine ways to aid in another's sin and silence is one of them.

Let us also understand the writings based on the nuances of the original languages used, the cultural norms and events of the day for those the texts were directed towards. ....Further, why don't we read texts from the EARLY church Fathers that weren't chosen to be part of the Gospel ...Texts that were written by those who carried the faith throughout the world .Great ideas !

Note paragraph 90-92 of Redemptionis Sacramentum
[92.] Although each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, at his choice,[178] if any communicant should wish to receive the Sacrament in the hand, in areas where the Bishops’ Conference with the recognitio of the Apostolic See has given permission, the sacred host is to be administered to him or her....

It must be remembered that Communion on the tongue is the law of the
Church. Communion in the hand is an exception to the law (it is an “indult”) which is not commanded but only allowed if all the conditions outlined by the Vatican are present. If the conditions are not present then the permission is not granted and Communion on the tongue only is permitted. The seven conditions are based on two principles as the official document points out. These two principles are not something that the Pope could change even if he wanted to because they are based on Divine Revelation itself. Every Occasion of Scandal Must Be Avoided....

I totally disagree with the idea of communion by hand. As a faithful maronite, I see only a communion on the tongue, because jesus holy body and blood is intented to purify us from sin. Other than the communion by tongue/mouth I see devils work.
As for standing or kneeling, it does not matter, as long we made peace wiyh the Lord via a real confession from the heart, and approaching the eucharist in a white heart.
I will pray for the church, so the holy trinity give her strength, to be a strong rock, where hell gates won't overcome it.
God bless our church, to be victorious on devil and his work.
---A faithful maronite, from the holy land -cedars of God - Lebanon mountains (transfiguration site)- Lebanon.
Peace and love be amongst you. Be ready, the time is near...1-confess, 2-get holy communion,3- pray the rosay,4- lent /stop your body-based addiction 5- read in the bible 6- pick a saint as an example in your life.
Your way to Jesus.... God bless you all...

Maronites? I think it is neat how the Maronites always sing the words of the Consecration in Aramaic, the language of Jesus, regardless of the language in which the rest of the liturgy is sung.
As a matter of history, the speaker is wrong. Jesus administered the First Eucharist by giving it to his Apostles while they were sitting at a table.
We must be wary of attempts to impose the Roman ritual on all of the 23 rites of the Universal Catholic Church, especially their unsanitary practice of drinking the consecrated wine out of a common cup. But contrary to what the speaker says, no one, in any Roman Catholic church I ever have attended, has been denied the opportunity to receive communion on the tongue if that is what he or she desires.
I am a Ukrainian Catholic, and we receive communion by means of a gold spoon, on which is a piece of the consecrated bread and a small amount of consecrated wine. Done right, the spoon never makes contact with the recipient.

Anyone who says it is an option has no understanding of sacred Tradition and is playing right into the hands of modernists who say everything is just about preference. NO NO NO.
