    From your lips to the Bishop’s ears, Father. 🙏🏼
    Receiving our Lord kneeling and on the tongue (along with an explanation such as this) and eliminating lay people distributing would make a bigger impact than ballpark Masses. Thank you for speaking boldly. God bless you.

    My husband and I have been praying about returning to the Catholic Church, and have been so touched by Fr. Patrick’s messages! After this message, we just shook our heads at the clarity and the profound invitation we have from our Lord to take him seriously in the Eucharist! We will be contacting our local priest in the new year. Thank you so much for sharing these messages.
    Love in Christ from California!

    I wish I could kneel for Holy Communion, it’s reverent and fitting, to kneel before Christ in his house, I’ve had two knee replacements and am unable to kneel So I stand… I’m old school and was brought up to know the the Sacred Host should only be given on the tongue to recipients.

    I’m a Somali Catholic and I’ve started receiving the Lord on the tongue. The person giving the communion (I’m sorry can’t think of the name, I’m still new to the faith) sometimes makes faces or sanitize their hands right after giving me communion. Even my own husband discourages me from receiving the Lord on the tongue. I will never stop, I’m now going to incorporate kneeling as well. If we Catholics want to change the Church, we need to change ourselves first.

    Excellent homily Fr. Patrick. I remember as a child receiving Jesus on the tongue. I didn’t realize how receiving on the hand came to be. Thank you for encouraging us to receive on the tongue again! I will be doing this from now on. I love Jesus so much and thank Him for giving us the Eucharist. God bless you!

    When I heard this homily I had to hold back from weeping. I have been praying for this homily for years. If you want to take a deep dive I highly recommend the book "Corpus Christi- Holy Communion and the Renewal of the Church " by Bishop Athanasius Schneider

    Thank you so much, Father for this important message. God bless you for not being afraid to speak up. Ever since people started receiving standing and in their hand, reverence for the Eucharist has diminished. It's no wonder so many Catholics don't believe in the real presence!

    Thank you Father Patrick for this homily. I wish our local priest here in our area would preach the homily like you do, touching always on early church history and the ancient sacred traditions that need to continue in today's age. These are very important so that nominal Catholics can understand the cores of our faith. I love that Corpus Christi procession that the church had after the mass, as part of the Eucharistic revival. May you continue to do so! God bless you, Father!

    What a beautiful message. My husband and I have decided to take our faith into a deeper more reverential relationship. We were baptized in the church of Christ but are now attending mass with our children. Finding resources like yours is an encouragement and certain blessing. Lord bless you and those who have helped make your lessons available online. Thank you!

    Thank you for speaking truth. It took courage, a gift of the Holy Spirit! You may suffer for it on earth but your reward isn’t here, is it? God bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you and give you peace!

      It's Church teaching that we can receive both ways. Is "speaking the truth" going against Church teaching?

    • @mfingers
      @mfingers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@krimbii Nobody made any suggestion whatsoever that taking Communion in the hand goes against Church teaching. Quite the opposite, in fact, when Fr. Patrick very explicitly states that it is OK. Fr. Patrick simply instructs that "Lex Orandi Lex Credendi". It's a courageous instruction because it challenges the status quo, and has the interest of our souls at heart.

    • @krimbii
      @krimbii ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mfingers If the Holy Spirit guides the church from error, and communion in the hand was permitted by the US bishops, so why is there endless controversy? Why do you "challenge the status quo" of church teaching? That is rebellious against the divine authority that the church is supposed to possess. Your statement contradicts itself. You say Fr Patrick is "courageous" to tell others to receive on the tongue only, yet receiving in the hand is also okay, but also don't do that because it's disrespectful or bad. Doesn't make sense. When there is a discipline in the church that says its okay to do something, yet you also say not to do that and another way is superior, you open up the slippery slope of distrust in the authority of the church, even if one thinks it is for the sake of holiness.

    • @mfingers
      @mfingers ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@krimbii When I meet a friend, I can shake his hand, or give him a hug. Either is acceptable. But wouldn't a hug recognize that the relationship is special? The status quo I speak of is the teaching that our relationship with Jesus is casual - warranting just a handshake. There is nothing rebellious at all to say that we should be much more intimate with Christ than a handshake.

    When it was first introduced in my parish in England, it was with the removal of the Communion rail, and was introduced as the new way of receiving standing.

    So many of us want to recieve kneeling but there are no altar rails and older persons, like myself, cannot rise without something to push against. Some priests have put in a prie-dieu either in front of them or one either side. This holds no one up but while it is "catching on " so we can be in an adoring position before our God we area about to recieve, Some priests are doing this while others outrightly refuse. We need Bishop's letter to their churhes so that all will do it. Sadly, it was a cleric in where the liturgical things are done that said, "Roman soloders alway ate they lunch while marching and they called it 'manna'. Since we are soldiers of Christ, we out to walk up and walk back when recieving the Eucharist" that was how it "came in". But we are not Roman Soldiers and our manna is not a packed lunch bu the holy Body of Christ. Whe why why are the bishops doing nothing ? (I am in the UK). Why did the people in the forming of the directions for liturgy not do anything about it? we canonly assume it is possible they do not prayer and hence do not have the light of Wisdom as well as the knowlege of the Holy and how to react in the Presence of the Holy.
