I enjoy OLC because it actually has assigned roles and you don't constantly stack on tag and dps down the boss. It also doesn't feel too long but it's not a two minute burst-down either, the length feels perfect.
In my opinion, OLC is A tier, i love the introduction of the cc mechanic which inverses the aoe, add to that the kiting mechanic to properly keep 1 boss away from squad while they take another down, and that makes OLC a pretty good strike mission :) These mechanics push players to think on the spot, and not just turn their brain off and go through it. You have to actively think if it's better to cc or not, which boss are we focusing? who's kiting? But i feel a lot of people just don't want to engage in such mechanics so kinda hate on it. Anw just my personal take ^^
@@bchararaad1870 it definitely has some very unique mechanics, I also really enjoy how you don't just always want to cc every break bar no matter what asap
Freezie is actually the only strike mission I have done and the first one I usually think of when strike missions are mentioned. As a casual open world enjoyer it's about as much difficulty as I can handle. I like the silly, fun holiday vibe and am looking forward to next wintersday, so I cann do it while actually knowing what's going on. Last wintersday i had just returned to gw2 after a very long break and had absolutly no idea what was going on when I stumbled into the snowman's lair.
oh wow! If you like it, I would definitely reccomend trying the icebrood saga easy 3 (shiverpeakj pass, fraenir of jormag, and the voice and claw of jormag) they are incredibly simple and easy so you dont need to worry too much about having a good group or anything. and then the first 2 EOD strikes (aetherblade hideout and xunlai jade junkyard) are only a little step up in difficulty but are so much more enjoyable and interesting! I just love strikes so I want everyone to try them lol (I am mostly a pretty casual open world enjoyer as well)
@@ieatyoulol I really enjoyed Freezie. I am currently saving up gold to unlock IBS, once I do, I might check out those strike missions. I keep going back and forth on whether I want to try SMs and other group instance content. On one hand I am really intrigued by the mechanically more complex fights, on the other I am not sure I want to brother with arc dps and getting my damage up to raid level. I recently took my characters to the aerodrome and the best I managed was about 10k dps on my main with a pure dps build, although it would probably have been a bit higher if I'd remembered that the panal can give you boons. With most of my alts I manage about 4k dps. I also think, that I'd probably have much more fun with a support build, but I am really overwhelmed by all the tasks devensive supports are supposed to juggle. I might try out some of the boon dps builds Mukluk recently tried. A few of those looked fun and managable. If that goes well, I might dip my toes into group content.
yeah adding the boons from the console as well as adding conditions onto the golem will HUGELY increase your DPS, and with the easier strikes I believe you could easily get away with like 10-15k DPS, you might not be top DPS but you certainly won't be greifing the team, the easier strikes are easily clearable with everyone doing that. mukluk has some fantastic guides, I also have a heal herald guide that has 3 different levels of difficulty so you can start with level 1 which is very simple and good for someone brand new to healing! @@melinnamba
@@ieatyoulol adding boons wont triple my dps though. And adding condis is a bit counter productive, when you are testing and training a condi build. My main is a condi mech. I actually did manage to cobble together a build purely based on gut feeling, that was about 85% of what snow crows recommend. Currently I still need to change 2 or 3 rampager trinkets and the rest is practice. But at the moment it feels like I will never get used to rotations. I am not a fan of heavy armor classes. So I don't have a revenant - or a warrior and my guardian is my bank. I do plan on getting a battle read alt of each class eventually, bit it's not my top priority. I was thinking of trying that quick dps untamed Muk has been playing lately, that looks like it's right up my ally and maybe heal scourge, since necro is my second favorite class. I really like Mukluks "get to the point" guides. I watched most of them before I even considered doing raids and strikes. But what I currently find most helpful are the stream vods from his "I tryed" series. It's really great to see the process of how he tries and tweaks the builds that he's testing. I have learned much more from that, than simply looking up ready made builds.
@@melinnamba maybe not triple but perhaps double, boons make a huge difference and you will likely have them most of the time in strikes. and the condis are there to create a more accurate scenario as well since in a real strike, other players will be adding lots of condis that increase your damage like vulnerability. and the damaging condis added to the golem don't get counted toward your DPS so it just makes the DPS number more accurate to what it might look like in a group fight. 85% of the snow crows benchmark is literally more DPS than the average player will ever achieve, that is more than enough to clear any content in the game! you definitely don't need anywhere near the benchmark numbers to get started with strikes 😊
Forged steel needs mechanic, where if players sit in the tank, it gets increases movement speed, up to 33% (as swiftness) That would make clearing adds, collecting stuff outside of the path and the intermissions more bearable
I've only ever done 2. Did freezie without realizing it was a strike lol. 2nd was KO for turtle part. Took 2 runs of wvw guys using commander and minstrels gear lol
I have done Cold War exactly one time, because it is just the worst. Arenanet agrees with me by admission of adding the 50 times achievement. Forging Steel is fun, but too long. The moving parts drag, but the areas where you do stuff is very engaging. They need to add unique loot drops for each part, not just the dwarf armor. At least you can get a guarantee exotic drop if you do challenge setting for the boss, which isn't worth as much now since exotics are cheaper than ecto.
Forging steel has such good potential but like u said, it's toooo slow and unbalanced. I'd like to see a challenge mode added to it to kinda fix what went wrong with it
certainly not the easiest strike but I think its super fun where it is now, and far from the hardest. and if you want something a bit easier AH and XJJ got you covered!
I think my feelings on OLC have been tainted by my experience pugging it. For whatever reason it almost always seems to be the one that attracts all the toxic gamers lol, so common for people arguing over mechanics and leaving n ends up taking forever or the group just disbands. I wonder if its because its one of the strikes that can be done with a few different strategies and there isnt really a 1 universally agreed upon strat. The fight itself is pretty cool and unique when the LFGing goes well
@ieatyoulol yeah, it's definitely hard to pug, but it's easily the most satisfying to train newcomers to. In experienced lfg, it goes how you say, but in training ppl lock in faster and only takes 2-4 tries before fresh strikers clear it
no way you put forging steel, the worst strike in the game that no one does in front of cold war. Cold war is bad, but its barely bearable, forgign steel is simply a waste of time

I don't know what group you've joined but you are not supposed to cc every breakbar unless you are going for its achievement.
@@sanguin3 I think you may have missread something my friend :P
OLC is arguably the best designed strike in the game. C tier is criminal lol
