He was probably trying to lane split while panic braking. Swerve or brake, he should have picked one or the other. I don't think anyone would intentionally drop their bike on a crowded highway.
No, the problem is that specific vintage of bike is very hard to control in adverse braking conditions. It falls very fast to the ground with no time to correct. The real reason he got into trouble was because he did not let off the brake before the swerve. Should have been one hard pump on BOTH brakes, let off and swerve. But again, that bike is very hard to control. I also don't think he was watching far enough ahead. He has enough height to see several cars ahead were stopping.
His cruisecontrol was still on, after the fall, that’s why he crashed into the trailer. Its a manual gas control with a calces probably. If you drive slow, never drive with this system on, very dangerous.

As a GL 1800 owner, this is a really strange crash; this bike is incredibly stable and I can't understand what happened, even smashing the front brake is almost impossible getting it blocked.
I have a ‘21 non-tour myself. Doesn’t matter what bike it is, you lock that front wheel up even for a moment and try to pitch a swerve, you’re gonna do what this guy did. He obviously didn’t allow a 2 second following distance to prevent this. Ride safe man.

Watched this 20 times still can’t figure out what happened. Linked brakes and no lockup, did not collide with car in front of him, goes from emergency braking to face planting. Did he pass out or was he trying to lay it down? In typical fashion a Goldwing especially, continues on, upright, on its own over 7 mph.
It took me forever to figure it out. By round 30 I saw the tire marks from the front brake. He jammed on the front brake and locked it up. This bike didn’t have ABS. If you hit that front brake and the front end dips, you can then mash the brakes and it won’t lock up. But hit it too hard right out the door and, well, this guy….

@@gauteberg1351 yes I know, after riding a gl1800 for the past 12 years in pouring rain, hurricanes, snow and well below freezing temperatures it’s been my experience that the linked braking system on the NON abs models is so good and forgiving to stupidity and lack of skill, ABS is a complete waste of money unless you had to bump up to an ABS model to get the color you wanted.. yes, it is that good.

@@charliejamz. Nahh, he was tailgating, fell off of the bike, probably passed out for about 2 seconds, became alert again and then realized what happened. When I was 15 I was nearly killed because of a driver making a left turn in front of me and I flew over the car and landed on my back. Broke both bones in my lower right leg. Once I hit the car, I passed out during the fly over the car but regained my consciousness in seconds. If not for the helmet, I would have been dead immediately. I'm now 60 and I've been riding Goldwings for 25 years straight with over 250,000 miles on the clock.

bike is stable, but the actual reason is that engine of this vehicle is so powerful that, it didn't switch off after it got hit the road.
It will stand back up on its own if there’s still power going to the rear wheel.
