As far as the love triangle and mr.steal.your.girl that bobby turned out to be in it...I have always thought that Bobby's song "I wish he didn't trust me too much" was a reflection of that episode.

Sam was an amazing singer, but some have said Bobby was Sam's karma because Sam was a grown man and was friends with C.L. Franklin...but he was sleeping with Aretha Franklin when she was 12. Nothing takes away from the Womack Brothers being trifling, but they weren't alone in their gutter behavior...
I've heard this same rumor , that Sam was sleeping with Aretha when she was only 12 years old . My question is : what is the source of your information . What book states this as documented fact ? Did Aretha actually confess this , did someone catch them in bed together , or was this just unwarranted speculation on the part of some people 🙄 ? If there is "hard evidence " to back up this rumor , then share with the rest of us your source of information !!! Because his fans ,and Aretha's have a right to know . But in all fairness to "both individuals " if there isn't any credible evidence to substantiate these claims , then I respectfully ask that you Not repeat unfounded rumors . And the source of my information is David Ritz…the same David Ritz that worked with Ms. Franklin on her autobiography while she was alive and SHE told him that when she was 12, she went into 23 year old Mr. Cooke’s motel room. Wilson Pickett also said that they ran in the same circle and that Sam told him out of his own mouth that he was intimate with her at that time. Ms. Franklin was still alive at the time that Mr. Pickett made that statement and did not refute it. Just because people are good at entertaining does not mean that they are good people.

Franklin threw, who himself got a 12 year old pregnant...she almost never stood a chance being surrounded by a bunch of p3rvs. Any adult who found a 12 year old attractive in that way is sick, and that unfortunately includes the velvet voiced Mr. Cooke.

What I never understood is how his young son just wandered off into a pool without no kind of supervision. I believe Barbara was fooling around with Bobby and wasn't focused on her responsibility. something seriously went wrong. Barbara and Mary Wells was definitely wrong.

Bobby Womack wasn't a good friend. He married his friend's widow and then got caught in bed with his stepdaughter. And then the stepdaughter married his brother. Wow this is some weird mess. Probably because the majority of Sam's publishing was sold. No need for a movie when you own the publishing. Why stir up lawsuits with the possibility of having to split the profits with distant family members who believe they should be entitled to reap some benefits. It would be a HEADACHE!!!!

I love their songs together. Womack and Womack, but never knew the story or that Linda was Sam Cooke’s daughter. On a side note, Beyoncé voice reminds me of a little bit of Linda voice.
When I saw Bobby Womack's induction to the Rock HOF, he said in his acceptance speech about Sam that a change had come with the first Black President of the United States of America, he acted like he loved Sam and was so close to him. Watching this it doesn't seem like he cared about Sam at all.

In my opinion, Sam's wife Barbara was more to blame than Bobby!!! Bobby was 21 years old....very young, and from what I understand, Barbara seduced him into their relationship. It takes two to tangle... Barbara had a bigger commitment to Sam than Bobby did. But Sam wasn't an angel himself. He tried to have an affair with Lou Rawls wife while Lou was on tour, and he and Lou were very close friends. So it's life, people!! Get over it....Leave Bobby alone.
There are arguments for both sides as to which of them was more at fault, but there's no doubting that they both made questionable decisions that made they both look bad.
