I have the first generation Challenger, and have put hundreds of miles on them. I am 6'3", 230 pounds and suffered from a painful Achilles tendinitis for over six months. By a stroke of luck a friend gave me a pair of the Hoka's and they sat in my closet for a long time (they weren't my style). After trying all my shoes and having pain, I finally decided to try them out for my Achilles pain and they were the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. Years later when my Achilles pain flares up I wear my Hoka Challengers. The reason I'm writing this review is because mine are finally wearing out, they are getting holes in them and the traction is almost worn out and I'm going to buy another pair. Thank you for making such top quality shoes.
These are a top shoe for anyone who is a little heavier & running on the NZ trails i.e.lots of cheeky rocks everywhere. I hope the new upper and wider mid-foot will fix the issue with the previous release whereby my foot burst out the inner sides.
My shoes!!! I broke my ankle the day after getting my first pair of trail running shoes (not related). I have recovered, but my ankle always feels stiff. I really appreciate the cushioning and stability that these shoes provide. I do not see myself using anything else in the future apart from perhaps a different Hoka.
I sprained my ankle on the trail about a year ago and am having the same issues as you. Just ordered these and am hoping they be good. I love the torrent 2 though. Another light minimal shoe that still feels stable and predictable
I ran my fastest trail time in this shoe. I have wore it a time or two on the road and for some reason I do well in this shoe regardless. I wonder which road shoe is stacked the same?
