When I was a little girl, my grandmother would sometimes watch after us at her place when my mom was in reunion, and when mom came back to bring us back home, we were half asleep in the car, during night, in the middle of the forest, and that's the music she played. It was a magical, ethereal moment of my childhood.
I remember it was 1992, Compton CA, at a hip hop club called Cheap Times. DJ was bumping 6 in the Mornin by Ice T. Eazy E was in attendance and suddenly took over the booth and told the crowd "Kill that noise this is the real shit!". He started spinning this magical, wondrous song he said had touched his heart. All the Bloods and Crips joined hands in a circle and in uncontrollable waves of emotion, started spinning like ring around the Rosie's, halfway between Cwalking and paroxysmal gyration. It was special, I will never forget it😢
Like many other people this was the first Cranes song I ever listened to, and I remember the exact moment and place, I remember the feeling, I remember everything. It was 21 years ago.
I had just stepped into the Long Beach Convention Center to see The Cure on the Wish tour, summer of '91. I had no idea who the opening band was (Cranes) but they had just started their first song when we entered (Starblood). We were instantly transfixed, we just stood there unable to take our seats as the chorus rained down hellfire for the first time. I swear the lead guitarist was dragging a power drill across his strings to get that insane distortion. After that song the ushers made us find our seats. I went and bought Wings of Joy the next day. I played it for all my friends that summer and became known as the kid with the most cool eclectic tastes, lol
Yeah, I got the same feeling too. The best music I have listened & own (to listen further), is every time a strange & hard finding. So, I am fine in line. 😎💥🎶 Greetz T2™♈
The Cranes have a uniqueness to them that is hard to put into words. And, for whatever reason, I always felt that their music would fit well in the original Twin Peaks series.
I remember first time I heard this at 2:30AM, I was skateboarding late at night in A small Abandoned Town in Nova Scotia. 17 Just ear buds and street lights with this song playing serenading my ears.
I saw this band live in Bratislava in about 1993-4. I don't remember . It was in the atomic shelter under the castle. I will never forget that concert. thank you
Don't you know I care Don't you know that I'll be there As soft, as wide as air Climb to the stars Shine high up there And fall into your stare With all the colours I can wear I'd touch you if I dare And there'll be angels everywhere And when our body is bare And everything is soft and clear As close as we can bear And all our love goes everywhere And I know I could be lost And always too soon it's over But there's everything to feel And there's everything to discover
1:19... (right through to tune's end) That ageless, fresh & glorious stretch of "Everywhere" is THE bit that solidified my love for the Shaw siblings' / Cranes' sound / music. Breathtakingly stunning bedtime listening material, track. I could ride that bit / wave (looped many, many, many times over though) FOREVER, and then some! Absolutely adore the Shaw siblings / Cranes! 'Tis always a pleasure listening to their pieces. Can still achieve colossal, great, wonderful & beautiful things / results with so very little to work with, be it musically or visually. It's all down to sentiment & delivery, I think. Very lovely video as well to accompany the song, even if it is, an edited version. Wonderful stuff. Cheers. ✨ (Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 @ 3:13pm EST)
ALSON SHAW also played electric bass on this and several other CRANES tracks. Thanks for this HQ video. BTW....there used to be a "Cranes" Tavern on El Centro Bl. near Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood,California,U.S.A. ....
This video was in heavy rotation on Teletunes in Denver in the 90s and got played many many times. Their record label loved us and so did the people of Denver.
Which album is it? I had Fuse, on cassette. And one other. I forget which. Do not think this track was on it, tho. I remember a single. The chorus about, 'You're the only one I ever need.' Her voice, and the music, is just so sexy, weird. Beautiful. 👌
@@christopherbrookfield4785 This is from the album "forever". Those lyrics you remembered are from "tomorrow's tears". which is on the "wings of joy" album.
First song I ever heard from this group on a Demo tape..... Can't believe it was 20 years ago... Haven't stopped listening to them yet. Awesome music!!

I’m 20 and I just realised again how golden the music is my father plays when he’s cooking…

can u tell to us?
I remember it too. Just like that, so clearly. Like it was yesterday. I guess in a way, it was.
it is like the most touching time capsule, so magical, but that was a different universe, wasnt it?

Went to see them live, with my sister once, she didn't know them before ... she couldn't stop crying...
That sounds Accurate.
They helped me learn how to feel when I was a youngun, and saved a LOT of girls from some REALLY shitty treatment from me....
Clearly the coolest woman in this universe.

Now I see where Grimes gets her vocal stylings from.
I copy her style

Rather from Karin Dreijer of The Knife
Lmfaooooo, she kind of sounds like a mix of this , Cocteau twins &&&& cocorosie
OMG I was thinking the same
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Saw you supporting The Cure in 92, still listening to you now
more incomprehensible than Cocteau twins treasure.

This song owes a heavy debt to "M" by The Cure.
Can someone tell me what Alison whispers and mumbles from 1:36 onwards in the song please?
