"supermarkets supply to food banks to those in need"? Yeah when supermarkets ramp up they're prices by 14% just to rip off the public whilst at they're lowest and the fact that supermarkets are playing the "good guys" feeding mouths when they're given tax free incentives in return says it all! So no,supermarkets DONT put up prices because of a bit of petty thievery of which doesn't scratch the surface compared to what they rip off from the penniless public themselves

Some days all we ate was toast, toast and more toast (these are the days before pasta), no heating and no double glazing (frost on inside of window as well as on the outside) but we all survived and none of us stole or accepted charity. Fast forward 45 years and Mum started giving to a food bank, I told her not to as I had seen a woman come out of one, three bags full, on her mobile and hailing down a taxi....some people want everything offered and don't see why they should go without.

The idea of in-store food banks is that shoppers who are buying their weekly family supplies, pick up and pay for an extra tin or 2 and drop it in a box. If do-gooding w&@nkers like this young man encourage others to do the same, supermarkets will be swamped with food bank thieves and either stop the scheme or put prices up for other shoppers.

When I was a student the only shoes I had was a pair of plimsols and I walked the 3 miles to college and back in the snow without ever feeling that I should be entitled to just steal off people around me. Food was spuds and greens because meat was unaffordable. At times since there have been times when money ran out and the heating went off and there was nothing to make a meal of. So get yourself out of it - you can if your dignity demands it. Stealing means someone else has to work unpaid and go without because you were to idle and lazy to get off your own backside and put the effort in.

My wife runs a food bank and she doesn’t need to steal food. People are very generous in general and put lots into the baskets at the local supermarkets, the said supermarkets also donate a very generous amount of food and money with local businesses doing the same.
The food bank is or at least should be a short term solution to help people out of financial difficulties, and all her clients now have to be referred by social services or probation services etc. This is purely to put a stop to the abuse that was going on a couple of years ago by people who thought they had a right to something that was done voluntarily and relied on donations.
Any verbal abuse received and the person is struck off the list, many clients have a sense of entitlement that can very often trigger verbal abuse.
