    Someone on another post said everyday Australians were more interested in daily life issues and this was not really a concern. Well to that person you were and are wrong. Many if not most people are extremely angry about this atrocious hidden attack on our democracy. We don't want Trumpism to grab hold in our country.
    Some Scomo and co. language tricks....
    I don't accept the premise of your question...
    Well that's you interpretation not mine...
    I had a private conversation with,...that I am not at liberty to divulge...
    Decisions made in Cabinet are private and will remain just that...
    There your words not mine... (one of Keith Pitts favourites too)
    I'll tell you what Australians want to hear/know/are interested in...
    What you really should be asking...
    We are continuing to have a conversation with...
    Australians expect me to...., their not interested in...
    I still believe in miracles... (yeah right!)
    Everyday Australians are doing it tough...
    Those are not words I would use...
    **** has apologised and frankly it's time to move on
    and as Billy Joel sang and so it goes and so it goes...
    with the following lyric '...and so will you too I suppose'
    Let's hope these words come true and Morrison goes and goes for good.

      and have you noticed it is very rare to ever have any guests from the trade union movement on the show - that is because everyone gets a say on QandA? I don't think do- nice little fantasy you have about Australia and the ABC mate! not to worry - try and pull your head out of he sand and fog of the patriotic lies for a while! it is a racist and dishonest society - the open ness is a bit of gimmick - a lot of whining and complaining goes on in Australia - that is hardly open discussion though! and it rarely amounts to change without the protestors and revolutionaries -Parliament is mainly full of privileged people who are lining their own pockets - and a hell of a lot of artists, musicians and community spokes people become like that after they get the taste of success! bottom feeding, lying, untrustworthy convicts - that is the sum of Canberra and other leaders these days!

    This discussion, and the back and forth with the audience, has just brought to the surface a series of interlocked issues that show how we the people have been surreptitiously deprived of essential features that hold our fragile democracy together.
    These issues must be fully investigated.
    These issues must be brought to the public’s attention to show why they are critical to a working democracy.
    And these issues must be addressed in our laws at both Federal, and State levels, to ensure the transparency of our continuing democracy.
    Secrecy enables various segments of a population to be ignored, talked down to, given empty promises, and disenfranchised. Mj

    17:17 - i think this is a terrible attitude for a politician to have. Whether in Opposition or Government, being an MP should be about representing your constituents and ensuring good laws are passed. Keith Pitt's comment here makes it sound like he's only there to keep the seat warm and do everything he can to win the next election. :/

      Tax the churches? Why?
      Well now you mention it, it would balance the budget in an instant, pay for infrastructure and social welfare programs, and pay off debt.
      Oh, and put them on an even playing field with similar businesses.

    • @canwelook
      @canwelook 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @George Jones
      Solution to your concern:
      To the extent that churches do charity work, it should be funnelled through a charity which needs to meet the same standards and get the same tax and other benefits as other charities. And the recipients of the charity work should not have to be preached to in order to receive assistance.
      Happy now?

    • @canwelook
      @canwelook 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @George Jones If hospitals and the like are for-profit organisations, or have an agenda other than this narrow public service, then they should be taxed. If churches want to mix a charitable service with their preaching then they should be taxed. Charities should only get tax exemption under extremely tight rules which prevent abuses like these.

    Scrap stage three tax cuts, tax the churches, impose windfall profit taxes on mining companies in the energy sector, impose generous national energy reserves to address power shortages. Use this tax money to fund a national housing program to increase housing supply, prevent foreign investment and stop propping up the market. Impose a strong ICAC and scrap the need for private sector funding of political parties. This is what needs to happen in Australia for it to be a fair country again

    I *had* thought that transparency from the politicians and medical authorities was a primary reason for Australia coping so well with the pandemic, both health-wise and economically. I was gratified to see federal and state leaders come out of the "national cabinet" with agreements on how to proceed, even if premiers sometimes said they would not be following what others were doing, and taking the political risk of explaining their decisions to their voters.
    I felt more secure and satisfied to see political leaders holding press conferences with their chief medical officers -- and allowing the medical experts to answer questions on what advice they'd given the politicians and why.
    I still think it worked out very well but I am now *extremely* grateful that the Constitution specifies that health is state responsibility.

So, at the last federal election and for the first time in 49 years, I did NOT vote Liberal ... sad face. But the Party biggies got what they deserved in a leader. So, echoes of "captain's pick" Tony ... didn't bode well for him either. BTW, thanks Stan Grant for pushing and pushing ... Morrison was the Prime Minister, ALL ministers reported to him! If Morrison wanted to overrule a Minister, no one would be asking any questions, that is his right as leader of the Government.
    If Morrison, appointed himself a minister in a portfolio, whats the difference. He still gets the say. Does anyone really believe that the PM does not have the right or power to override a Minister decision, or to step in and take any decision. In business a CEO override, can make a decision on any issue, in a business. The CEO can override any subordinate manager.
    What's the difference. I don't agree with his actions, because its not transparent, but the during COVID in Victoria, there was no transparency at all. What's the difference?

    Johann Hari has a very troubled past. He does not always adhere to the truth. He is an attention seeker and says whatever will get some attention. Before you believe anything he says, look up his history.

    A Lot of Overreach with this PM Morrison, Minister for Everything Issue.
    He Was the PM, this Correctly gives Him Significant Leadership Powers.
    However Certainly there is a Strong Morrison/Joyce Behavioural Content to this.
    Morrison and Joyce have a Contraversial Opinion of the, Importance of Everybody Gets a Turn, Verses the Importance of Quality Outcomes or Quality Leadership.
    Don't be Fooled Australia.
    Absolutely Every Decision Our Government Gets Right the Better Off We All are.
    Therefore Wrong Decisions are a Serious Problem and have Ongoing Negative Effects.
