What kind of a documentary is this? No Taiko drums, no overly dramatic, loud music, and constantly repeated visual bytes? The BEST kind. Seriously, it's such a relief to be able to listen to such a clear, unemotional, factually correct presentation. This is the standard that all documentaries should be measured against. Well done.

Poor Carter looked on by today's 'retro-fitted' morality as a purloiner of artefacts. In 1887 The Egyptians were breaking up Cuneiform tablets for fertilizer, hacking their mummies to bits for jewels, and looting their own tombs for pay. Carter's integrity and painstaking-preservation of Tut's tomb (over eight years) has saved for Egypt an eternal legacy of a record of scholarship and treasures. It seems unfair to saddle his reputation with negativity when he did so much that is of true historical value.

I’m an amateur relic and historical treasure hunter. For years I had planned to go back to school to get my archeology degree. I’ve read hundreds of books and research papers and have a sincere love and passion for the art. Eventually I came to a point where I had zero desire to be an archaeologist. The treatment I have experienced over the years and worse the treatment I’ve seen given to other amateurs from archaeologists turned me away. It’s a real problem. Constant virtue signaling and talking down to others is par for the course. The nice thing is they can act like gatekeepers but they aren’t. They can not find it all and hurry it away to never see the light of day. They can try but it’s for everyone.

Despite claims about his academic shortfalls, I think Carter's practical experience and clear skills show him to be an excellent professional in his field. A true Egyptologist. And this video depicts his life and work very well. .

Superb, you take the learner on a journey, and then you give summaries at the end. So, important to do. Well done, and the narrator is wonderful, so professional, erudite, but without a hint of snobbery or pretension. You aren't being "told" anything, you are following a story, with plenty of room to form ones own judgements. I think Carter, was by and large, a hero. However, he was also a shrewd bloke who knew where his bread was buttered.

It's crazy how they call digging up something, that was purposely buried & hidden away by his family & loyal subjects, a discovery & then they looted & stole everything in there that wasn't supposed to ever be bothered. While the people that looted the other kings' burial sites are called grave robbers.

To summarise a complex topic such as this one, into a little over one hour, without making it sound like a list of bullet points is a challenge. I must congratulate you on such good work! The narration is perfect, spoken with respect to punctuation, with correct pauses between sentences, paragraphs and chapters. This really helps the mind absorb the detail, unlike many documentaries that are ruined by poor delivery of the English language.

Ah, to be an antiques dealer in Egypt during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Selling ancient geegaws to some ancient duke or duchess for a good price. The entitlement displayed by the British and French during all this is pretty comical. Carter was a talented archeologist and also a thief: I'm glad the items he stole were returned to Egypt after he died. As for his disappointment toward the end, well, bad health will do that to you.

What a shame it is to end this otherwise great documentary with the question of what viewers think of Carter?
Clearly this opens the door for lowlife scum who would happily put this man down, and any other achievers.
He was a dedicated highly passionate Egyptologist, not a treasure hunter.
He should be honoured for helping to preserve Egyptian artifacts, many pieces that would quickly be sold off even by Egyptians themselves.
That Hawass turkey has huge hatred and resentment toward foreign interests but hastens to mention grave robbers from within his own land, which includes destruction of many sites due to changing religious culture.
Thank you Howard, you are a true champion of rescuing Ancient Egyptian culture & preservation.♥️
