    All of these rich people “Just get a job making $300K a year and then you can get a yacht like mine and afford to live here legally!” Right. Stop trying to regular everything. This is sick. Let them live in their boats, rich creep

    Living on a boat is a dream for many (even for some of us homeowners), and to call them "homeless" is actually offensive. Maybe their boat is not well maintained or as shiny and big as yours, and for that you like to make them feel like less. Some people who live in cabins prefer that to a big mountain chalet.

    This guy states that “the boats aren’t what the bay is for” WTF? I thought the bay was nature that isn’t owned by people. He just doesn’t want the eyesore.

      Unsurprisingly a property investor wants to increase their property value. People flipping houses and treating homes like they treat the stock market is sickening to me. I'm strongly against government oversight but this needs to be addressed like a crisis. Sadly most of the people capable of mandating controls are also real estate speculators. I hope there is a severe housing crash and they lose everything so living indoors is less of a rarity.

      Who is he to say what the bay is for being that it's a completely arbitrary human conception? Beyond the basic philosophical problems, this is actually a really ugly kind of class warfare. To live on a boat at all one has to be relatively "with it" or you'll drown within a day. These people are the last of a very self reliant and independent culture that has thrived in the bay for over a century. And the rich toffs on the hill want to make them extinct. Not a good look. And to what end ultimately? To be as boring as dishwater and devoid of personality? Great.

      They think they will live for ever after they are gone, people will take there place. Some of those boats been there since the 1950s. The San Pablo bay was once had many Chinese dingies fisheries then they got chase out. You see how the media don't want to bring up that part of history. So yeah people have been living on the bay since the 1800s on boats.

    • @seabournewolf2298
      @seabournewolf2298 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably none of them that’s why they’re there. To put a boat in a marina as a live aboard the boat must be at least 40’ long. Have a nice appearance. Be insured for $300,000-$500,000 and rent is $400 a month. Anchoring doesn’t require any of that

  • @ShakespeareCafe
    @ShakespeareCafe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Larry is full of shit. Those boats have a federally protected right to anchor on federal waterways and the federal court ruling allowing homeless to encamp or anchor anywhere when a city does not provide adequate shelter. The Bay Area's prosperity has caused epic homelessness and affordability for basic shelter has not been met and perhaps never will be. The BOATS STAY.

  • @marceld6061
    @marceld6061 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most marinas require at least $1million in insurance to stay. You have to cover the risk of damage to other boats and the marina itself. Some areas require enough insurance to cover environmental damages and recovery/ disposal of your boat if it sinks. Anchoring out has always been the favourite way to save money. As long as you are not in the shipping channel, it is legal (except Bora Bora where you need permission and they will charge you to anchor!)
    The empty/ derelict boat owners should be contacted. Each boat has a registry number/ licence on the side. Easy enough to find the owner. If they can't be contacted, registry is invalid, remove it for "environmental reasons". If occupied, require insurance. It would probably be required to be put into law on the state level, though.

    Jeb Bush passed a law in FL protecting anchoring rights for boaters. Boating Corporations like West Marine, BoatUS etc. formed an organization called Seven Seas something and lobbied FL politicians to protect their customers whom spend lots of money and wanted anchoring rights protected. It worked. Miami Beach still violates the law however.

    Floating homes shouldn’t be illegal just because you find it to be an eye sore if they ain’t harming anyone then they should be left alone otherwise they be outside your business making your business lose business hopefully the rich would move so they can take your homes

    This is a public way of misleading the people the city of Sausalito approved several years ago when this video was made $197,000 Grant from the federal government for the chief of police to introduct anchorouts to land. I was one of two anchor outs that were present and spoke clearly that this is not a good way to spend taxpayers money one the mayor says they will be in a slip and are able to work I'm a shipwright working on the Coast Guard boats fire boats emergency boats ferry boats and Commercial and private yachts as an anchor out. If you look they put two people in slips on that program. It is a federal Anchorage city of Sausalito and the county of Marin do not have the authority to supersede Federal article 6 section 2 US Constitution. I quote no State shall supersede the federal government it takes nine delegates in Congress to change this it is a retirement community for boaters to live such as myself I don't need guidance I don't need help I could put in the morning or I could put in acres by myself take care of my boat by myself employee and pay taxes misleading the public and getting paid to do it is what these people are all about every single person on the RBA and the bcdc hold multiple positions in government offices being City County or state Caltrans they are getting paid to talk about the way people are living on their boats out here and are in fact forcing people out with the intent to turn this into a Billionaire's playground. It is gentrification and they do not have the authority to do it I am an anchor out and I know my rights my boat is sound and I know what the law is around us I knew before I moved here I'm not a Bohemian I'm not a homeless person I'm actually an activist and a tax paying citizen and then disgusted by the way the state and government criminalizes and imprisons people and in this case they're going against their own Constitution
