    Yeah I remember this video which came out a few years ago (I'm from the Netherlands). That slogan "I'm not a top riority" (without the letter p) was a big thing. Many primary school teachers used this slogan during the strike and on social media, it was huge and serious!

    Walking to Rome is usually a pilgrimage. The girl picked 'randomly' from the audience is the daughter of one of the show's graphic designers, who is currently dating Arjen.

    Ah yes!
    I am from the Netherlands aswell..
    I remember wanting to become a teacher, indeed for the same reason as given.. To teach stuff to children, teenagers and/or young adults. But indeed, I got sent to the toddlers 2x a week, and the times I was at school I got treated like a toddler.. Having to make stupid, silly time consuming assignments which had nothing to do with teaching, or whatsoever.
    It completely took away all of my motivation and passion for teaching, and I am so very sure I am not the same.

      I'm sorry kids didn't get to learn from you, I think it is time they divide the primary education back up in the "kleuterjuf" and the primary school teachers. people who love crafts and fail the calculus test go babysit year 1-2. Teachers who actually like to teach but hate crafts can teach year 3-8.

    Education is a long-term investment and that's something most politicians don't understand. They think only about their term and that's it.

    Another reason men don't want to work with children is that you can be accused of something, and you're intire life is just over. even if you are found innocent it will follow you the rest of your life.

      It's true, even in Denmark where I live...and worked in a kindergarten. Criminal record checks, background with children etc etc all checked, and technically as a man you are not supposed to change the diaper or wipe the arse of a girl unless someone can see you. In practice, most børnehaver ignore this, unless they have actually had issues, because it is an impossible rule to implement.
      And I have wanted to work with children, and loved working with pre-school kids as well as adolescents, but when it came to working babies and toddlers, I passed on that... just do not find it interesting

      With how big the classrooms are getting, this can be prevented if they have 2 teachers per classroom. Or bring back teaching assistent as a job.

    • @farmrgalga
      @farmrgalga 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nadiar.4638 not really... It's not about space, it's about qualified staff. Teaching assistants help, yes, but you get in trouble when they have to run things. Been there in kindergarten, the pedagogue is supposed to be in charge, not me... So when they're absent, the assistants are doing a job you're just hoping they can do well on routine and life experiences, and which they're not paid for.
      When it's a school and kids actually have to learn, you can't get away with that. One of the main reasons schools in the Netherlands are going downhill so fast.

    I was born in the 70's and yes; I had only male teachers during primary school. Oh no; my very first year was a female teacher, but everyone after that was male. In highschool/secondary school it was more mixed, but still more male teachers then female. But when I walk now a days past a primary school, it's mostly female teachers and maybe only one male. The other primary schools in town are pretty much the same; mostly female teachers.

    I teach computerstuff to thin air. Logic is completely gone with our young ones. Remember the square box with openings with bars, circles, triangles, rectangles we used to play with as kids? Kids (and young adults) ask why the USB-cable doesn't fit. They don't even TRY to turn it around. USB-C is bothsides and is invented because people can't fit USB-B on their own! Idiocracy is really happening!

    • @MarcelNL
      @MarcelNL 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      At the VMBO where I used to work as a teacher assistant, I had to keep an eye on the pupils during math exam.
      Many kids raised the finger to ask me a question which already isn't allowed, and they all had the same question: "Sir, here it says that I am standing 50 meters away from the foot of a tower and that the peak of the tower is 72 meters away from me, and I need to calculate how tall the tower is. Uhm, sir? What is a foot of a tower and what is a peak of a tower?"
      Oh by the way, I also gave computer lessons to those kids all by myself even though my papers weren't valid for this age group, and also on a university of science. (And I have given computer class as an assistant on another university of science.)

    • @Sayhoun
      @Sayhoun 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MarcelNLNee het is geen hoog niveau in taalvaardigheid. Maar je vraagt om een nauwkeurigheid, en geeft een vage beschrijving van locaties. Wat je dan eigenlijk vraag is dat de andere weet wat jij ermee exact bedoelt in plaats van punt A en B liggen op cordinatie (x,y,z) en vormen een rechte zijde of aan te geven dat afstand tussen jou en de piek de shuine zijde betreft als logisch redeniring onderdeel is van de toets.
      In meeste Oost-Europese of Azietische landen staat:
      a=50m
      b=x
      c=72m
      a2+b2=c2 (of puur een driehoek met de zijde en getal erbij geschreven)
      x=?
      Dit vergt geen taalkenis, logisch redeniring; maar puur kennis, oefening en rekenvaardigheid.
      Want bij een getekend riehoek moet een student kunnen herken dat het om de pythagoras gaat en uit de hoofd kunnen opschrijven wat de formule is die om te vormen voor de bereking.
      zonder een driehoek getekend zal een formule nodig zijn zodat de student ziet dat die formule moet omgezet worden voor de berekening van x

    It's a real thing. As a PABO student myself, I've had calassmates of mine who were partly or completly responsible for a class of like 25 to 30 kids in their first year. THEIR FIRST YEAR. You don't know ANYTHING in your first year. You're still figuring out if you actually want to continue this study. You shouldn't be left alone in the classroom until your final year where you're graduating and even then you're not liable if something happens, because you're not a fully qualified teacher. It's insane what principals are forced to do to keep their schools open. And then they keep shitting on teachers because the previous generation (people born in the 80s) were reaised by by hippy parents who let their kids do anything and evertyhing so they never learned to handle the word 'no'. Now they're teacheing that to their kids, so this generation of children can't handle ANYTHING. They're so spoiled and entitled. And on the other side of that spectrum you have the extremely poor kids who can't even afford to have lunch sent with them in their lunchbox because there is no money for it. It's insane. And don't even get me started on private education. That should be dismantled aimmediately. It would solve like 25% of all the problems we have in (primary) education in the Netherlands. But despite all that, I love my profession and I wouldn't change my desicion for the world. Teahing kids is just such a special thing and everyday is the same, but also so vastly different. I just wish we got more respect from the government, that they will one day finally see how important our jobs are. No one gets anywhere without proper education.Not the politicians we have, not the doctors we have, the lawyers, the builders, the artists. Everyone started in primary school first. And if that gets ruined because of how teachers are being treated, then we've got a big problem coming in future generations where no one knows how to read properly because they were never tautght.
