I personally struggle with my art pieces, especially characters feeling like they're stuck inside a very flat fish tank, along with foreshortening and overlap of body parts and it sucks
jokes aside, you should be able to do 4 finished sketches and rushed "painted" in around 1hour and 30m to 2hours max. I do that all the time for my employers.
Great video! Over the course of a 30 year career as a designer I’ve learnt not to be precious about the work I create as I know that at any moment an art director or client can change the direction of the work that means much of what I’m doing can be scrapped. I’ve learnt to apply this same attitude for my art even if there’s no client and I’m in effect art directing myself and my art. Iterative sketches are great as you are able to try out lots of different possibilities for the art and for not too much time.
Man i really want to finally start drawing but my art sucks and i rarely get a chance to draw anyways as im so busy. My anatomy and faces especially, and clothing. Basically everything. I tried drawing my own version of Sun Wukong yesterday and it looked like a smudge
Makes sense... I mean, still 3 sketches works wonders for someone who is learning. I'm pretty new to the world of art but if is something I understood together with your... perspective? Your observation of the details, I mean I'm new so I may be expressing myself in a weird way, my apologies... but there is also the muscle memory of how you do things. You will be technically spending more time on the beginning for a better final result. Thanks
just be careful to not be like me, and create too many iterations and get stuck with extreme indecision. somehow its even worse than just going with the first idea
A pretty good point in drawing good art. However I think art is extremely board and in this form of animish art which I also draw, the process of it varies significantly from person to person. Personally I have seen ppl stick to the normal process depicted in the video, but I have also seen some process which tackles colours, shading, overlay, lighting before lineart (two artists i immediately think of are Oridays and u_u_zan who use this tech) or some artists who uses the “beginner”’s process and achieve mind blowing results (like Modare) or soem artists which use such technically challenging and demanding process which I still can’t figure out what’s going on 😂(I think of a lesser known artist like Levitatan who does this) overall your point still does stand and it’s a good video, I just wanna give more insights to the newer artists who is passionate about this form of art.

Can you help us to increase our speed at drawing because 10 to 15 hours in one piece feels illegal
Mine takes 1-2 hours 😢
First time I’m early on a video!!
🔥🔥🔥
Congratulations
