I notice that the hometown crowd in Seattle is HUGE compared to other ball parks. The stadium is chock-full of fans and that's gotta feel good for the Mariners.
I was at this game. Mariners fans are something else, they treat the whole fan base like family at the ballpark! They deserve a World Series appearance more than any team right now in my opinion. Just wish the ownership would stop screwing the team up.

Or at least bunt, like come on, take a *small* risk of injury for the sake of moving over the runner in an important moment, but more than that, for the story of a starting pitcher putting the ball in play in 2024!

Last 2 weeks have exposed who the Mariners really are, mediocre team with great starting pitchers.
I knew that even when they were winning.
Mariners had several chances to score and we blew it. We need another big bat and we should be good.
A big bat would certainly help, but you also have to get J.P, Julio, Garver and Polanco going. Nothing is going to change about the offense until those guys consistently start hitting.
They were 4-18 RISP. Could have easily scored 6 or 7 with some timely hits.

I remember when the Twins were league leaders in strikeouts just last year, I believe they set a record. It was damn painful to watch, but hey your Mariners are in a good position to get their hitting going along with Elite pitching.
Why not someone who specializes in finding open spots in the field, like Edgar and Ichiro did? The problem with big bats is that they try too hard all the time. More strikeouts, more runners left stranded.
My first Mariners game I went to in my lifetime, from Vancouver BC! It was real fun, despite the loss. Crowd around me loved when buxton went blind on a routine flyball 🤣

When you consider how long a baseball season is, and you consider how much traveling there is, then consider how exhausting all the traveling is, THEN consider how much further Seattle is from all the other teams in the MLB you see what an enormous disadvantage the Mariners are at. Think about it, a team like Minnesota, St. Louis, Chicago or Cleveland is ostensibly doing 1/4 of the traveling of a team like the Mariners, I think this is why the Mariners always fall apart after the all star break. They spent so many hours on the road. Someone should make a video calculating the distance traveled and its impact on win percentage. Think about it.
The last week and a half has been so cruelly unlucky for the mariners i can’t bear it

Another "clutch" performance by our "ace" starting pitcher today. And another inept offensive performance by the hitters including our "star". Considering the schedule next week, the M's could very easily give up the division lead by next weekend. Go M's!

I'm new to baseball. Why do they usually tag the runner on 2nd base rather than just have the foot on the base? Are struggling to locate the base so it's easier to tag the runner?

I did a swing analysis on my page for Julio Rodriguez. Just my opinion but I think he has too much hand movement and too long of a swing. Along with just overall not a good approach at the plate
He's just in one of those slumps atleast recently he's making contact he's just not putting the ball in the air

Can someone explain to me why Luis Castillo had to hit ?
Cal Raleigh was the original DH, and Mitch Garver was the original catcher; when Garver got hurt, Cal had to take his place, and since you can’t pinch-hit for a DH without losing it for the rest of the game, the Mariners were forced to let their pitcher hit in the now-nonexistent DH spot.

Garver's been playing more like himself for a while now, and his spot in the order had multiple chances to drive in some runs today, but he wasn't there to bat because Joe Ryan decided he'd rather bit Garver with a pitch than throw a strike in the zone

In the last 2 weeks as the M's freefalled, Garver has hit .171 with a .268 OBP. He has hit .197 for June. He, like most of the M's hitters, are struggling to be considered MLB quality. His being hit by pitch had nothing to do with the M's inability to score runs today.
When it feels like one win is your quota for each series, you know your season is over.

Sad state of affairs for the Mariners, If they don't win the division they will not make the playoffs. The AL Central top three is better than the M's right now
