- I feel like I can't really do the actual quality of the art in this book justice with a video on my channel that's primarily concerned about lore and the like. Genuinely, do yourself the favor of looking through the book on your own. I promise it'll be worth it. If you like the visual style of the series AT ALL, I think you'll like what you see. I'm a cool environment painting enjoyer myself, but I think character, object and mech design fans are fed plenty in this book too. As many gripes as I have, this book is amazing!

Since I don't think that Monolift Soft is launching an omegaverse, yes, Mio was originally an avatar of Pneuma or the daughter of Rex and Mythra. If Nia was in love with Rex, why would she have an exclusive daughter with Mythra? Yes this is a poly, but Nia did not show a romantic interest in Pyra/Mythra

And she does show at least some kind of interest in Mythra during Chapter 4...
The holding of the NG+'s hands can be translated that she wanted to make Rex jealous. Chapter 4 is the biggest mental straw in any fandom. You can tell a person of the same sex that he is handsome, and that does not mean that you is bisexual or gay. Let's recap, Nia in chapter 7 says that Rex made her bring out her true self, and she says that she loves him. Why first would she have a daughter with the Aegis (Futanari mode) and not with Rex?
@@lacramaldita2230 I usually think nothing of the hot spring scene too but I don't think saying "nice bod" is the same as saying "you're handsome/beautiful" since thats complimenting their actual body than their general looks. Also, considering the NG+ title screen has both a version where Nia pushes Rex out of the way between the two girls AND a scene where all four of them are holding hands, I don't think the intention is to just make Rex jealous. And if it is, then that just pushes the poly idea even more
As Luxin said in the video, this is a pretty final-looking design for a misunderstanding such as that to still exist and I feel like Takahashi would be more explicit to his main character designer, especially if he (and possibly even Saito) knew from the start and since xc2 that he was going with the rex/nia/pyra/mythra relationship

About the pneuma core: I think originally Mio was gonna be the pneuma avatar just like nael Is the ontos one. That way mío was gonna get her ultra busted combat mecanic and not just Noah was gonna be op.we have proff of this with nael a cat girl getting a aegis core crystal

Mio taking her clothes off concept art could have been done for the scene where everyone changes into their default outfits but they probably decided very early on to not go through with it in favor of the guys reaction to what the girls were saying instead

The spine of the XC2 art book had some art that you could only see when bending the book (Mythra's sword and "thus, boy meets girl" in alreastean)
While at first it doesn't seem like there is anything like that on the XC3 artbook, if you look closely you can see some dots on the bottom of each page. These are the lines that are part of the page numbers, but each page number is slightly offset. It seems to be a midi-like notes, and I suspect they are Noah and Mio's off-seeing themes
The fighting style concepts are WILD. My favorites that I wish were real are Matthew morphing his gauntlets into a giant hammer and Rex combining both swords into a dual-edge glaive. So cool.
The campfire scene at 6:08 was the art for the inside cover of the game box. Although, if you only had the collector's edition, I guess you wouldn't know that.

The background for Melia's art also reminds me of what Alcamoth looks like this all the overlapping saucers and domes.
Also disappointed we did not get art in either book of XCX Photon Saber wielding Pippito.

38:17 The gold and silver masks on Origins is almost definitely a reference to the chemical/alchemical/divine wedding in between the red/gold king and white/silver queen.
Another name for this is the union of opposites. The union of divine male (Animus, the sun, gold, sulphur) and of divine female (Anima, the moon, silver, mercury). The ultimate end result of this is the birth of the hermetic child (representative of the philosopher's stone) which creates the unus mundus (one world). The restoration of the primordial unified reality which all things originated from.
59:13 I don’t think it’s a contradiction of Pneuma’s lore. I think the swords he got in Aionios were designed to replicate his fighting style as best as was reasonable, and that includes a visual throwback to Infinity Blade from 2NG+. I don’t think it’s meant to mean he’s somehow drawing power from wherever the Conduit now is again; it’s just a strong energy attack designed to visually resemble Pneuma’s power.
Remember, in 2 Infinity Blade straight-up killed Malos, but the FR version barely scratches Alpha.
I really hope we get to see pre and post Aionios colony 9 in the next game. The arcitechture looks incredible and an actually big, bustling city would be really fun to explore. Plus i want to see what happened to the original colony folk we saw in XC1.
I hope that colony 9 gets the alcamoth treatment in the xeno 3 opening cutscene. A big new city fully developed with it’s own architecture merged together with the landmarks from the original colony, exploring that would be so cool

i'm kinda surprised that there was no mention of O's tubes/cybernetics; like it seems like a weirdly specific thing to just randomly throw into concept art, and i think that this, plus the P face reveal indicate that they might have had a bigger role in the game (a more prominent role as the rivals to D&J maybe) before ultimately being cut down to just one encounter.
(also while on the topic of consuls; the obligatory "wrong consul, they're clearly all distinct and totally unique and memorable" corrections:
The generic consuls use the models of I & L (who goes unused otherwise), not C, but we do see a close up of his mask when he talks to Z). And I herself does appear in at least two cutscenes: one where she reports to Melia in Keves Castle, and a flashback to the execution at Hope's Rest.)

honestly we're assuming pregnancy but i feel like there's an equally likely chance that blade/human kids could be born by making a new core using their partners dna. we know blades are meant to collect info on their driver in the first place so mythra/pyra/nia would all be able to see that with rex, and with mythra and pyra i feel like they'd be able to make new cores like titans if they tried given they are administrators of the entire blade system. point is it doesnt need to be absolutely true that the blades became pregnant

The new Nia stuff is great but my biggest letdown is that in the weapon section with all these wonderful hi-res, detailed breakdowns of all the weapons there is not one of Nia's sword, a true shame and I think she's the only party member/hero missing there. Her sword is so intricately detailed, I was in denial over its absence and kept rescanning those pages assuming I was overlooking it somehow.
I wonder if this is on purpose
@@Mecht Probably as simple as Luxin's point that it was already in the XBC2 art book or they may not have even created new concepts for it and just used their existing reference. Even so they could've put the old art here, oh well. I can always pull out the book for 2 to check it out.

about the Aegis core crystal on Mio is probably they weren't sure if Pyra and Mythra will give Rex their crystal again or just the information of the core is still in Rex's Genes
48:37 Noah’s initial sword which he painted red looks to be the generic weapon for the Kevesi one-handed no shield swordfighters we fight all the time. I don’t like the idea that a bit of Origin Metal in every Kevesi Incursor-style sword is allows Noah to do great things because couldn’t a sizable minority of soldiers do that? Also we know Noah has one or two innate special abilities: moving around during time stops and releasing some kind of shockwave from his sword (from what is either Garvel’s debut scene or Noah explaining his sword to Mio during Chapter 2). He had one of those in the prologue which means it has nothing to do with being in Aionios
The creator blurb on the Gulkin page says that he would have liked Tirkin to be the mascot creatures of Xenoblade which is a funny aside.

The Mio taking her clothes off scene was probably too mature for the game. I wonder if it was supposed to be an intimate scene like something Fei and Elly have in Xenogears. Or maybe it was just for a Agnus equivalent scene of the bath like Keves had. Great video as usual and lots of amazing art in here. I wish we got to see more Moebius faces like the Testaments in Xenosaga but they opted for the villains to be a concept this time around so it makes sense only the important Moebius like Z, M, and N get all the screentime. I would very much appreciate a translation of the Siblings painting. It’s probably only supposed to depict life but confirmation would be nice.

I do wonder if the reincarnation system was originally going to work differently and those weren't just earlier concepts of the main characters. Like their souls were going to be reincarnated but their physical bodies would be different, maybe after so many cycles. The fact they didn't show the others during noah's past lives makes you wonder. The fact ch5 makes you think you might restart another life and try again seems to lean into that. It was just easier and more haunting to reuse the exact same bodies every time.

That thought is interesting, and would explain why only kids seem to have been assimilated: all parents manifested in a form that could help their kids defend themselves, in different ways: thier blades.
HOWEVER, that is kinda off, for multiple reasons, which would make this theory basiclally wrong unless I miss something:
- City people still have blades they can summon, same for avatars such as Shulk
- What happens when parents have 3 kids or more?
- Nikol can't summon-. wait. I was about to say "he can't summon his blade, does that mean his parents wouldn't protect him or something? that's kinda sad actually, lmao", but no: his father was in aionios as an avatar, and his mom is already lucky seven. no one was there for him to manifest as a blade. Actually, that would give a lot of credit to this theory, now that I think about it... Glimmer has 3 moms + is related to pneuma, and even if they were all busy, a royal family guard without children could reincarnate as a protection for one of the princesses, ig. so she's okay, good supply of potential blade people. same for mio, in a way.
hmmmm.... there might be more to dig on that part. but the city people thing still doesn't add up imo. Unless their parents, already born within aionios, became blade in turn or something?

A clear indication of _some_ kind of physical interest in Mythra during that one Chapter 4 scene. (Yes, you can say someone of the same sex is pretty or handsome or whatever and it be perfectly platonic, but phrasing it specifically as "nice bod you got there" is going to raise some eyebrows.)
Nia practically hanging off Pyra's arm when they get to Tantal.
Two NG+ title screen animations, one where Nia _shoves Rex out of the way_ and holds the Aegis girls' hands, another where Pyra (not Rex) waves her over to join them.
That, in my opinion, is enough to point to Nia at the very least having a crush on the Aegis girls in addition to her romantic attraction to Rex. Who knows where that could lead in the decade plus between the end of Xenoblade 2 and them having their first kids?
@@kevinr.9733 no these are not signs of a crush they are normal interactions, woman do complement each other apperences without any kind feelings invilved i have seen this personaly, she grabing pyras arm was because was a joke with the cold as far girl contact with friends go this is nothing, Nia has much interactions with the aegis as the rest of the party and when the aegis are in danger she shows no sign of corncern for them when she does is because of her concern with Rex , and for the "they had gotten closer off scream" when Nia looks at the phote she thinks with herself "i will see you soon then" she Cleary is talking about just one person: Rex

If you're talking about Origin, then Tora was the lead engineer for the Agnian side and possibly the main designer. It can be assumed that Shulk filled a similar role for the Kevesi side.
Remember, it had to be built separately in each of the two worlds prior to the formation of Aionios.

It's not really confirmed one way or the other that I know of, but given that (a) Rex wouldn't have needed new swords prior to Aionios (as he'd still be able to use Pyra and Mythra's actual swords, albeit less effectively without the Conduit) and (b) Tora's whereabouts within Aionios are unknown (if he manifested at all), Shulk is the next most likely candidate.

And if you're wondering about the logistics of this, the explanation is that Nia's bottom surgery went so well that she was able to become pregnant through the power of "good strap"
