66sr has an internal battery system. You may go forward with Garmin GPSMAP 66s in that case it supports replaceable AA ( only drawbacks: reduced battery life, no NavIC support)
Though you can use the Garmin GPSMAP 66sr also for this purpose, the 3inch screen might be smaller to view while riding. Montana 700/680 is recommended. You may visit nearest dealer and check out the product in hand before making purchase.
Can you show device behavior while walking? Also can you set NaVIK as the single satellite receiver? Side by side comparison is required in detail. Is weather info in 66sr a chargeable service?
Noted, we will do a comparison of the tracks from both of these devices. NavIC can be turned on/off. Either GPS only mode or multi-GNSS needs to be enabled with this setting. Thus, not as single. Weather data showcased is totally free of charge and no extra subscription is required for it.

Most Garmin devices usually come with no preinstalled maps as the customer would like to have his own preference for the maps to have in the device. You will need to buy the maps as per your choice, online from the Garmin website once you have the device.

You may either carry a powerbank (device works while charging) or additional batteries (note: 66sr has internal battery, 65s & 66s have normal AA batteries). We recommend you to buy from the dealer list mentioned on Garmin website to avoid warranty/service hassles. The software "Garmin Basecamp" can be used, please check our channel for a video on it. The "City Navigator South Asia NTU" map has India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Maldives together. Additionally there is a topo Himalaya map that covers Himalayan regions in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Tajikistan. Service center is presently at Delhi, you can courier your device from anywhere across India to the service center. We will try to cover a video on expedition mode soon.
I felt that the 66sr should have rechargable lithium and option to place AA batteries in place of the lithium rechargeable battery if needed. This feature is good especially when one is going in to Deep forests for days together. Then they can carry spare AA batteries with them. This facility is available with many Garmin hand held. This is a big drawback of this model Garmin. Should be addressed immediately.

There is also a version without an internal battery system Garmin GPSMAP 66s which you may consider. I will pass on your feedback for dual option to Garmin.

Hi Prateek, Please note that there are two versions of Garmin 66sr Worldwide and India. Only the Indian version has NavIC feature.
