Few years ago I was trying to collect the Olympic coins and the kind owner of the local laundrettes kept some for me. He handled over the coins to his staff but she kept them all to herself. This happened twice. She then decided to let me have a look at all the spare 50ps so that I can pick whatever I wanted. Non Olympic coins but there were 2 Kew garden coins in the tin. Yes, I took the 2 Kew garden 50p coins.
In 2011 (I think) I got into collecting the 50p Olympic coins and since my dad was a taxi driver handling loads of change I ended up getting all of them including the Kew gardens coin

I felt sick watching this, at work a few weeks ago when I handle lunchtime money I saw a shield dated 2017 thinking I didn't see them that often but didn't swap it with one of mine thinking they weren't that rare. How wrong I was!

Can anyone remember the “Nine Hands 50p” from 1977? One of the earliest “unusual” ten bob bits, as my mam called them - there was an urban myth perpetuated that some had been minted with ten hands on them and were worth £5! Not sure if there was any truth in it, though!
Good job I have a very understanding wife as I have just payed £195.00 for a genuine circulated kew gardens 50p piece, I know its alot but I am now the proud owner of one the rarest coins in the UK

Towards the end of 2018, The Royal Mint announced that the coin would be re-issued in 2019 as part of the 50th anniversary of the 50p coin set and unsurprisingly when these coins became available they were snapped up by collectors in a matter of mere hours! The kew 50p was removed and sold as to collectors none the wiser.
I needed one more to complete the Beatrix Potter ones then one day I handed out the books in French and in the bottom of the box was the last one I needed. It was an amazing coincidence.

I'm a massive fan of collecting coins mostly 50p's and have been trying to get hold of all the 10p alphabet coins (proving difficult 😃) I have got quite a collection but am still missing a original kew gardens 50p.

Our washing machine had broken down & so I searched through the house for as many coins as possible because I didn't know which coins were needed for the washing machine & dryer, after finding a stack of assorted coins I headed off to do the washing. Anyway, about 2 - 3 weeks later my husband asked me if I had moved the small wooden writing chest from our spare bedroom to which I replied that I had because it had loads of change in it that I had used to do the laundry & hadn't put the box back in the exact place. All he said after that, on repeat, was "I hope your joking, I hope your joking?". When he knew for sure I wasn't, I was placed firmly in the dog house for days (& still reminded 3 years on) that it was the most expensive bag of washing ever after I had fed the machines his collection of £1, £2 & 50p coins that included a Kew Garden's rarity, a Kitchener coin & some other's that had design faults & a large pile of the commemorative ones!!. Totally accidental on my part & I did feel a bit bad!!. Anyway, as I keep saying to him "never mind, one day you'll look back at this & laugh?", or then again!!!!?? ;0)
Apparently I still have those fifty pence coins as a collection but I am still looking for a certain one week I do not have I do have the number one fifty pence coin besides collecting stamps I used to collect comic books as well but unfortunately over the years other people take over the property and kick you out and you become homeless I used to collect coins when I was a child in the 1960s end of the day I still have my stamp collection to tell tales of secrecy at one stage I was collecting black and white films from wide range of different cameras still I know a place where they are very as they did try to burn all the evidence of black and white films secretly made they lay Underground behind the Ritz dance hall Manningham Lane Bradford UK

@@ChangeChecker That's my worry about even buying a secondhand Kew, Because there is just so many fakes around now 😖😥 Yes there's ways to spot them, but that's only something you'd be able to do in person, which makes the market to buy one that much smaller 😔 And buying from a shop means the prices are sky high 😢 So I live in hope still about finding one in the wild 😉 I agree on the Newton & Hawkin being similar, but personally the Newton is a much more complex and interesting design in my eyes, I wish I knew what all the different design elements meant on the Rear of the coin 🙂👍🏻 And you're welcome on the complements, They're very much deserved 🙂👍🏻 All the best, Mark 🙂

Change Checker I know but it’s good to get the information out there for collectors, some of these sets do sadly get broken and do come into circulation.

Trial piece £1 has a lower mintage than kew gardens, and wasn't released into circulation, in my eyes makes it rarer than the kew gardens :) - I agree kew is the rarest 50p in circulation (you said towards end of video) :)

Ha Ha !! I wasnt collecting at the time but I had 2 Kew Gardens in my possession at the time. Both went on a can of Diet Coke. Which muat now make each can, the most expensive Diet cokes ever ! I do now have three Kews in my Collection & 4 2019 Kew's :) Im a bit surprized as the 2019 Kew Gardens are now selling at near to £100 on EBAY, despite them being said that they date to 2019. I thought that one would have been the rarest, next to the 2009 Kew.
I had the Kew one, bright and shiny in with change from a twenty pound note. With links to Kew I thought I' keep it but passed it to a friend for parking meter. Only later did I regret letting it go. Guess that was my lost luck.

I have an assortment of rare 50p's and 2 £2 coins those being. Beatrix Potter coins - Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, and 2 Jeremy Fisher's. Three Johnson's dictionary coins. VC coin and WW2 coin with a soldier holding a wounded colleague. London 2012 Fair Play coin. Girl Guides 100 years old 50p. Benjamin Britain coin. Public Library coin. Paddington Bear holding the UK flag. And two £2 William Shakespeare coins featuring the crown and sword on it. Some are in better condition than others of course because they have no brown marks on them then. They total £18.50 at the moment.

I was doing my shopping in tesco 2009,the assistant went into the till, opening a bag of 50ps and gave me a kew garden, I thought that's a nice looking coin, never seen one in my change again, and I wasn't collecting coins then,

I had 3 kew gardens at one point, spent 2 of them without realising the value, thankfully I still have the one kept very safely.

You should start collecting full stops, and consider using some of them in your comments.
Bought kew gardens uncirculated 2009 coin from Etsy! was blowed away by the price and quality. I have 5 coins now...just keep gaining value!

Around 2011, waiting for a friend in a pub in Barnet, I remember getting a Kew Gardens in my change. Looked at it, and bought a beer with it later……
I had 2 of the shield 50p coins and I didn't even know that they costed something and I had a Peter rabbit but I spent that on a drink 😭😭

Trial piece £1 has a lower mintage than kew gardens, and wasn't released into circulation, in my eyes makes it rarer than the kew gardens :) - I agree kew is the rarest 50p in circulation (you said towards end of video) :)

the johnson dictionary 1755,
paddigiton in a train station,
flopsy bunny,
the sir isaac newton,
benjamin rabbit,
and the battle of hastings
I have some of these coins, and I want to sell them as a collection, how would I do it???

Ha Ha !! I wasnt collecting at the time but I had 2 Kew Gardens in my possession at the time.
Both went on a can of Diet Coke.

Im a bit surprized as the 2019 Kew Gardens are now selling at near to £100 on EBAY, despite them being said that they date to 2019.
I thought that one would have been the rarest, next to the 2009 Kew.

I had the Kew one, bright and shiny in with change from a twenty pound note.
With links to Kew I thought I' keep it but passed it to a friend for parking meter.
Only later did I regret letting it go.

If you saw a Key Gardens coin, it was a counterfeit. Take my word on that.
Italjute the normal £2 seems to be even more counter fitted I never ask for it when I’m not hunting cos I always get fakes lmao

Three Johnson's dictionary coins.
VC coin and WW2 coin with a soldier holding a wounded colleague.
London 2012 Fair Play coin.
Girl Guides 100 years old 50p.
Benjamin Britain coin.
Public Library coin.
Paddington Bear holding the UK flag.
And two £2 William Shakespeare coins featuring the crown and sword on it.
Some are in better condition than others of course because they have no brown marks on them then.
They total £18.50 at the moment.
i found the kew gardens when i was eight i though i look nice and i really liked it however i didnt know anout rare coins then so i just left it in my mums car):

I was doing my shopping in tesco 2009,the assistant went into the till, opening a bag of 50ps and gave me a kew garden, I thought that's a nice looking coin, never seen one in my change again, and I wasn't collecting coins then,
