    Great video thanks! I have a 18Hp lawn tractor that blows blue smoke. i changed the carb on it as well as the head gasket and re ground the valves and adjusted the lifters. my next step would be to replace the rings and hone the cylinder. would you recommend removing the piston from the bottom or top? also would it be possible to save the head gasket and hone it from the bottom? How can you tell if the rings are shot? The bore looked ok had a couple very shallow scratches didn't even catch the nail.

    My Ariens 524 with the Tecumseh Snow King engine just threw a rod. I think its a 6HP engine even though the Ariens model number is 524, I'm pretty sure its not 5HP. It has electric start, but I had a tough time getting it started. It finally fired up and BANG!!!

    How does oil make its way to the crankshaft journal/rod interface?

    That crank is a mess and the engine won't be far from catastrophe again because you didn't polish it before putting a new rod on it. The #1 problem with the Tecumseh seems to be crank failure caused by wear between the piston rod and the crankshaft. Dirt, debris, water, and intermittent use all create the conditions for this problem until finally the rod seizes and snaps.

    A hose clamp works well as a ring compressor.
    Not too tight.
    Allow the piston to slide through with minimal drag.

    Hey dony, I got a 208cc powermore engine on a blower here. Seems when I pull it over there's very little compression. I pulled the spark plug and looked into the chamber as I pull the recoil, and the piston doesn't move up or down. I pushed the piston down with a soft rod, and it went down pretty easy and stayed there. Could this be a busted rod? Or you have an idea what I'm working with? The spark plug is producing spark when I pulled it and touch it to the body. Gapped at .030. Could it be something I'm missing? Thanks a million. Great video as always

      @Mr_Tecumseh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The piston arm snapped off the crank. I wouldn't bother repairing it because Powermore is the bottom line when it comes to engine's, there junk. But if you do, you have to drain the oil, you have to take off the back cylinder cover, remove the broken arm off the crank, remove the broken arm from the piston. Order a new piston arm and put our piston on the new arm, bolt it back on the crank. You also need to make sure your remove all little pieces of broken metal inside there from the first one breaking. Make sure you get every piece if you miss one little peace it will destroy the engine while running. New gasket, cylinder cover back on. Add your oil. Done fixed. Start it and test it to make sure it is fixed and running well. An engine rebuild, do exactly what he did here in this video.

    Y did you have to pull the crank out if it was scored I would not put a new rod in plus it would make it a lot easier to put the piston in if you remove the head a 3$ head gasket will save you a lot of work so you don't have to remove the fly. Wheel to get the crank out

    The open ends should face "up" or "down". 6 or 12 o'clock.

    "Dances with wolves" told the tribe that Shaman Tecumseh likes to expose his rod. Chief stood up, took a hit of smoke pipe and passed it on.
    "Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home."
    said a great chief Tecumseh to a governor as he threw a rod.
