When I first started boxing I was stupid and bought a budget pair of everlast. Hand were always sore as hell. After I saw your review - I got a pair of Ring to Cage C17. Hands felt so protected. Your review on the C17 saved my hands! Yes the gloves were $99!

I agree. For the most part. I’ve been boxing for a while and have wrist issues from my power and consistent impact over the years. So I think it depends on the individual.

A friend of mine, Oisin had a very decent pro career, he fought Amir Khan, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Paul Spadafora.. he used those cheap Everlast gloves his whole career for bag and pad work and never had a hand problem. He used more expensive everlast gloves for sparring but still, he never spent 100’s on gloves.

Yeah, he was bummed. He had a good run considering he didn’t start until he was 29 and in Oklahoma which isn’t exactly a hot spot for boxing but I think he beat Spadafora

I would definitely say invest in a decent pair of gloves. I bought my Cleto Reyes 16 oz training gloves about a year ago and I absolutely love them. They have been holding up very well. Buying inexpensive gloves, i.e., Everlast, Ringside, Title, are good gloves for beginners that will last about 3-5 months before the padding begins to crumble.
Also, with my personal experience, I would say that some of the most expensive gloves from Everlast may not hold up as well. Prior to the Reyes gloves, I owned some of the Everlast Power Lock 16 oz gloves and they were very great at first! Unfortunately, the padding began to crumble after about 3 months of use. I love how those gloves feel in my hands, but the durability of them definitely needs some improvement.

Hmmm...how much more do cletos cost in US vs titles? In Australia, cletos are $300AUD vs Title platinums for $150. Cletos just aren't worth the price we pay here imo. I personally have the titles and fairtex bgv9 Mexican style gloves ($150 aud) and don't see the point of paying double for something that really won't last any longer before you want (not need) new ones. Defo don't think it's worth beginners paying double for cletos.

I couldn’t agree more! With Brands like Superior, Chaos,Top boxer you can get some quality gloves without breaking the bank.
The biggest advantage to luxury gloves I’ve found is the motivation they give you to train. Every time I gaze at my higher end gloves, I just want to drop what I’m doing and start boxing.
But hey life is short I choose to enjoy the little things, too each his own.

I just realized that after buying a few pair of gloves... but now that I have sort of a collection of gloves I'm kinda happy that I own those but it's definitely not a necessity like you said. When I started Boxing I was new to the boxing brands and used to think that Everlast and venum are the best ones untill I found out about winnings and other top brands. I started with Everlast and majority of their gloves were uncomfortable and cheaply made as everybody knows. I could never get satisfied with most of the gloves I tried at the time and I kept buying different pairs from different brands. I recently ended up getting Winning gloves to see if all the hype was true. I was very surprised with the quality but also at the same time it makes me wonder if I really need them. Sometimes because of the price I kinda hesitate to use them just like the WBC edition Venum because of how expensive they are.
Mainly I use Venum 12oz Shield for mitts, Leone 14oz IL technico for bags and 16oz WBC edition shield for sparring. Honestly I could have bought a pair of Winning with all the money I spent for other lower end gloves but I guess no one is that expert at Boxing brands when they just started, right.
Discovering your channel introduced me to a lot of different interesting brands like infinitude and top boxer (kind of underrated brands ig ). Thank you for all your educational videos they are really helpful. Keep all the good work !!

really agree with the point. The point is some brands are a little bit overpriced. Their fame and price have overweighted their gloves’ performance. To avoid these issues may be most viewers’ initial idea about review videos. For Those luxuries, they are really some treats for real lover of boxing. Beginners no need to touch them, but they do need some suggestions. I have wasted some money before watching review videos.

It depends, if this sport is going to be your career or your passion for the next good long time, it’s worth it to spend the extra money on Flys or Reyes. You will save money in the long run that way since they will last longer. For me it’s more important to spend money on a head guard.

Cheap boxing gloves suck (99% of the time). Really expensive gloves are not necessarily the best. Some expensive and many mid-tier gloves are the best to purchase. Go for specialized gloves (big bag gloves - with D3O, big sparring gloves and one small for pads if you compete), and you will have a long carreer (mine is going for 35 years, 27 of those competing).

GRANT made his gloves in mexico, and sell in Us (he is a businessman not a manufacturer) so 500 dollars or more is too much, whereas technically gloves cannot be better than the historical Mexican brands that have always done this job...we are talking about a handcrafted work. For a long time GRANT gloves were produced by HERNANDEZ (CHAMPS) in mexico city but the first gloves, equipment and first fight gloves approved by WBC were made by Alfredo Soria (ZEPOL). I have to be honest the colors are beautiful and the brand has prestige but very expensive. for me.

I have a pair of cheap bag gloves I bought for $26 AUD and love them. Much of the time I hit the heavy bag with a pair of Berkley fishing gloves I bought for $3. I think wearing heavy padded gloves all the time doesn't give you the hand and wrist conditioning and can develop bad habits where you'll break something if you ever get in a real fight. It also depends on your bag. I got a second hand bag at cash converters for $40 and it's not so hard.
