- I saw Devo on their first Australian tour in 1982 so it was only fitting that I should see them on their last in 2023. It was their ‘Goodbye to 50 Years of De-evolution’ tour, supposedly the band’s last. But rejoice Spuds! The good news at the end of the show was that we are all to return to the same venue in 2073 to celebrate their centenary. And after all the excitement and memories had at this concert I’m sure they are many people eagerly looking forward to it. In all seriousness it was a terrific night, packed with great songs, and something most other concerts lack, plenty of wonderful costume changes.
That’s Good (00:09)
Whip It (03:58)
Planet Earth (06:36)
Mongoloid (09:27)
Gates of Steel (13:20)
Freedom of Choice (17:29)
Beautiful World (22:07)
Very glad I got to see them one last time. I can now happily de-evolve. - เพลง

That three original members are still together after all these years is amazing. They still sound like the Devo I remember from the 80's. So glad I found this.
It was a great night, and yes, they did sound as terrific as always. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Was there awesome show
Yes, so good getting the opportunity to see them one last time.
Thanks for sharing mate.Seeing them in Brisbane on 29th.My 3rd time but first in 33 years
It's a great show. You'll have a wonderful time. Thanks for commenting.

It was a wonderful night. I'm really happy I got to see them one last time. So many great memories. Thanks for commenting.
@@jakeminnie6359 Yes, still sounding great and putting on fantastic shows. Let's hope it's not the last time they ever tour.
Amazing stuff recorded Peter
Thanks you
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Lucky people who caught the Devo plant pot hats 😊 Its more than nostalgia. They still have the musical chops and it still sounds new today.
Lucky indeed, but I wonder how many survived intact from competing hands. Plenty of people in the audience came wearing their own. Actually a lot of people were wearing their favourite Devo outfits. The band still sounds great, and rather sadly, their message is still as relevant today as it was 50 years ago.
Twist away you Devotees!
We are Devo!
🕺
Wow i saw them as well in 82 at festival hall in Brisbane i was only 16 and my 1st ever live band experience my older brother had a spare ticket and i think it was about $ 14 the show was great and was a fan before that anyway then saw them again at Livid festival in 96 i think had tickets booked for Good Things but couldn't make it 😪 Great Band 👏 Devolution lives on
It's a shame Josh Freese wasn't on drums for there final Gigs
So many of the concerts I saw back in the early 80s have sadly disappeared from my memory but not the Devo one. That says a lot about the impression they made on me. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the band. Stories like that are always great to read.
fukking legends
🤟
I wish the Girl You Want was on here. Thanks for recording this for us all!
Sorry, my tiny camera overheats if I try videoing for more than about 15 minutes. I really wanted 'Whip It' and 'Planet Earth' both of which immediately followed 'Girl You Want'. There's always songs I have to forego so as not to risk overheating. Hope you enjoyed the rest. Thanks for commenting.
Lets be honest here : they were hitting it hard, and its glorious. What an amazing set, Thank You, DEVO.
A great band. A great performance.
I was there in 82 and at this gig as well! And they were brilliant at both ends of their career
Definitely !!
My wife and I saw Devo for the 2nd time at the Good Things Festival in Melbourne, the first time was in 2012 at a Day On The Green near Auckland Airport.
We crossed the Tasman to see Devo.
Anthony
Hope you enjoyed the Good Things Festival, especially Devo's set. A band worth crossing the ditch for.
Next to Auckland Airport was the venue when I first saw them after years of wanting to see them. I too flew up but from only from New Plymouth, not quite the same as coming over from Oz.
I was there that night. A very enjoyable concert by a great band.
Yes, a great night. So glad I got to see them one last time.
@@Peter_LiveMusic Awesome. They can still do it well after all these years.
Was there, glad i got to see them again. 1st time was the Hordern in 82
Yes, I was at the Hordern in '82 too. It was great having the chance to see them one last time.
@Peter_LiveMusic , too right Peter. They were still excellent. Got my kim wilde tickets today, great to see the old acts coming back
@@mheppell4685 I thought about seeing Kim Wilde as I really liked some of her singles but then decided the seated tickets were too expensive. Hope you enjoy her.
@@Peter_LiveMusic, agree Peter re the seated price
By far the best time I had last year
A great night. So glad they did a side show.
@@Peter_LiveMusic I have always loved
these guys.
Never heard about this concert😢😮😮😮
Sorry you missed it. They were part of the Good Things Festival line up which was advertised for a long time. Finally, they announced a side show in Sydney about a month before hand. Tickets sold fairly quickly.
I was sitting a few metres away from you. I bought a Marantz sound system - (gun at the time) with huge speakers for what was then big money -from memory $550 -which would equate to probably 10 times as much in today's money. The salesmen were showing off the sound quality by playing the "Freedom of Choice" album. So as I had virtually no albums in my collection I bought( I think 6). One of which was that album. I bought my Energy Dome way back (imported from the US).
It was a great night and I think brought back wonderful memories for just about everyone there (and probably made new memories as well). Thanks for sharing your story. It can be quite amazing how we discover music that goes on to be so special to us.
I missed that one but I'll be there for Kraftwerk next week
It was a fun filled night. I'll 'see' you at Kraftwerk. Not the same theatre though -they're at the big one.
Rock On, me Boise idaH0'z
Best concert and performance, made me hot.
Terrific night. So glad they decided to include Australia in their farewell tour.
We are not men...
We are Devo !
We are Spuds
It seems like they're concert tour is bigger than ever. Why quit when you're on top? The evolution has occurred. They are proven correct. They started with nothing and now they have everything
