is it possible to do this but with object while a camera moves to capture the reveal? Like for example, the camera pans on a table and a coffee mug just appears with this effect.
Just like it sounds, it selects what ever is different between the layer it is one to the one you set. Can also be used to key out certain things, for example if you have a static shot of someone talking, then a shot of just the background, you can put a difference matte on the talking video and set the background layer as the difference one, so you are left with just the person talking :)
yea it took me some time to figure it out, i hated it at first but then got used to it, you can basically use the same layer for the same purpose now without duplication
I have a Video of a white motor cycle i roto masked it but when i applied difference matte the white part of the motorcycle is glitching like it has noise in it
Hey bro loved the tutorial, Can you tell me how to save this as a presets in built in after effects so that I don't have to make this everytime is there any way !
Thank you! Well for this kind of setup i would just save a project file, keep it clean and then import it into my comp every time i need it or just render it out in that separate project file
You mean the alpha matte/luma matte option? They changed the way it looks on the latest once, I only recently updated so its not in this video, but it works in a similar way, you just need to check another box next to it, Hard to explain.
Got any tutorial Requests? Let me know!

This is fun, but hard to manage given they moved the track matte features around. It doesn't work quite the same now...
