  • It's a 12-year aged bourbon showdown today as we put 1792 Aged 12 Years Bourbon to the test against Black Saddle 12 Year Bourbon. Which 1792 Barton Distillery Bourbon will come out on top? The readily available $45 sleeper or the $50 rarity? We'll need a blind head-to-head bourbon tasting to find out.

Wish I could get my hands on the 1792 12yr!

Glad I'm not the only one who is not a big fan of 1792.

I love the 1792 Aged twelve years! Right now I'm slowly sipping on it since it's nearly impossible to replace lol. The BiB is also fantastic and in the near future I will open my single bottle of Full proof, can't wait!

The Black Saddle is $56 here in Florida. I have passed it by many times as well. I didn’t want to blow $56 on an unknown bourbon. As for 1792, I haven’t had the 12 year. It’s hard to find and when I do find it, it goes for $75. The small batch is Ok, but not one that I actively buy. For me, Knob Creek 12 is what I would buy rather than either of the ones were tasting. Just my opinion of course. Thanks for the review as always.

1792 Single Barrel for the win.

1792 full proof is really good value for the money.

I do enjoy the 1792 Small Batch for mixing cocktails. It holds up. Haven’t ventured into the other 1792 offerings

Looking at Phil here, I can only assume that Bardstown you tried in your last video must have amazing hair growth properties.

LOL some of these videos go in the tank months in advance. This is one of those.

Didn't dabble with 1792 for the longest time. Ran across a Full Proof single barrel pick and that opened the floodgates for me. Have the Single Barrel & was fortunate to get a single barrel of the BiB and enjoy them both. Not seen a 12 year yet. The Small Batch seems to have a bit more spice kick for me than the other "Standard" offerings from the other players in that bracket. When I'm in the mood for that extra zing I will reach for it. Cheers!

The single barrel BIBs are our absolute favorite!

I also got into 1792 from a Full Proof pick... Then I found a sweet wheat... That went over real well with friends. Now I can't find any

@@superman6338 Not seen a sweet wheat yet. Seems like a divisive bottle. Some rave about it, some are like "nope." Do want to try at some point.

@@russd2888 It was pretty good. I hope you find one. It went over well with my non-whiskey drinking friends... Because It's low proof, tasty and sweet 😜

I've only tried the basic 1792 Small Batch, but Phil's description of that bitterness sounds familiar to me. I'm not sure I could articulate it well, but I wasn't a fan of my first experience with it.

    • @TheBourbonVan

The mineral, the spice, and the hint of bitterness do seem to show up some days on 1792 bottles.

I was not crazy about either one of those, good not great, I sat with a couple bourbon brothers and popped a couple 1792 bottles and we agreed 1792 BIB and the full proof was better than the 12 year ,I'm very fond of the BIB and full proof.

I may have had the 1792 Small Batch (all that’s available here) many moons ago, but can’t quite recall for sure. Runs about $37 USD in these parts, and feel kinda meh about pulling the trigger on it.

1792 is a funny brand. We love it some days and we aren't crazy about it other days. I think you have to be in a mood to enjoy it.

Only see the 1792 small batch on the shelf. Found a bottle of the 1792 Full Proof on secondary market and grabbed it. Would like to find the 12 Year or Bonded at MSRP.
