    For the record I've got a rake of four LNER ones, one of each body type. Very happy with them behind my N2.

    Im a big fan of those coaches. I might get a Hornby brake to respray and detail for use as crew van for a pm maintenance train. Would look quite nice with a Hattons tools van for variety instead of two with entirely the same body.

    I opted for the BR crimson livery brake third and compartment first six-wheelers, and brake/baggage four-wheeler which make a delightful train with Hornby's J15. All these varieties should sell by the shipload. The lighting system couldn't be simpler; what a great idea using a reed switch and magnet. I also like the Mansell-pattern wheels; so characteristic of the era and a nice surprise.

    Thanks Jenny, lovely review. Those LNWR liveried coaches will be smashing with the LNWR “Precedents” from NRM and Rails of Sheffield.

    Jenny, enjoyed this video, now I've got to go try to hunt down some LNER teaks - Hattons don't seem to have them, so becomes a hunt when trying to order from USA.

    I preordered the NBR coaches and at the time of writing only the 4 wheeled versions have arrived. In terms of locos, the J36 by Hornby was tooled a few years ago and produced as 'Maude', but the J36 is a freight loco and caries the NBR Freight black livery. Hornby could have produced the J83 in either NBR Black or the Passenger olive as carried by the 2 Waverly station pilots, but AFAIK has never produced the J83 in either pre-grouping scheme.

    As to the underframe detail
    blank = oil lighting
    round tanks = gas lighting
    & battery boxes = electric lighting

    There is a nice mix but none that appealed to me this time. I have ordered two of the Hatton's coach packs instead. I do have some Hornby locomotives on order however.

    It's quite odd to modern eyes that so many old railway companies had completely different liveries for their locomotives and coaches. It's seems like greens for locomotives and browns for coaches was a popular combination. Modern companies have much more uniform branding.

    Great video
    Jennifer E. Kirk. But want Livery did you buy out of your money thanks? I really like the 4 and 6 coaches but I like the Hatton's one a lot more as got NCB blue, LNWR, L&Y brown & umber
    on pre-order. But I do think the Hatton decorated samples of GWR livery look much better than the Hornby one. It great to see all of this Livery from Hornby and Hattons as it gives a great choice to the modeler to pick. With, there being over 120 Railway companies before the big four and not included all of the Industrial railways want to have 4 and 6 wheel coaches like coal and hospital, etc and private train line want people did have in the past plus the heritage railway. There could keep making these coaches for a super long time before there can't find more Livery to do. Great guide Jennifer E. Kirk and will you be doing a review on the Hattons one thanks? If
    Jennifer E. Kirk, we did not get the Hattons one I would pick this one from Hornby LNWR, GNR, LQSWR. There my list of the Hornby livery from most favorite livery to least favorite (1.LNWR 2.GNR 3.LQSWR 4.NBR 5.LNER 6.LBQSCR 7.SR 8.BR 9.GWR)
