I'll be waiting for the horror stories following those tech center repairs....
I guess if you know your local CEX crew, can go and talk to them and you can discuss with them about what they're going to do to your Lynx, maybe it may be worth it. But if they are a business, and they are, no way they can make a profit repairing all that exotic stuff for 40 quid.

I joke of course, it is great to see a mainstream store doing something like this. CEX gets a lot of hate for its low trade-in vs high resell but remember they do need to keep the lights on and pay staff of a retail shop, you're not exactly going to get eBay resell prices. That said though and while some things are a little expensive there are some great bargains to be had. I've bought a few old PC games mostly for £1 each. Got a copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein last week for a single golden nugget. Yes I could have grabbed it from stream / gog / internet achieve but the retail release is just handy sometimes and especially when you're wanting to play it on an iBook running MorphOS.
