Oh wow, that SNES prototype slipped by me. Very nice stuff and an interesting story. Hope this will pop up somewhere again. Cheers! 🎉
As much as I sympathise with this whole game preservation idea, the best case scenario result of this petition will be that game publishers will have to make it clearer how long they will support a game when you buy it . That's a good result in itself, but there's little chance they will release those games into the public domain.
The dead internet stuff reminds me of an old theory from Steve Gibson (creator of Spinrite). He coined the phrase "internet background radiation" where he posited lots of background internet traffic was being generated by old zombie PCs infected with old worms and bots still hooked to the internet.
Dark Forces is still one of my fave shooters. May have to give it a go again.
There's loads of ads in this video. Sure it never used to be like this.
Has Japanese Big Red Racing survived and can Windows actually be booted now? The suspense.
I notice awful stuff like The Day Before which was pulled after a month has not entered this conversation about game preservation 😀
That Dark Forces is not a re-master, it's a re-implementation.
