Whatever you're watching tv, TH-cam, you're phone, make sure you're using them as a tool to move you forward and positively control it's to your life vs you be a tool for them
I quit television about 15 years ago. I find most television is repulsive and damaging. I watch youtube but carefully. Half the time with the volume off and half with the volume up.
@@CaliSportsman365 I mean you still have to live a little, just because you decide to party does not necessarily mean you are an underachiever it could just mean you are more of a social person and an extrovert.
Honestly television has been a system where either you choose to watch educational or consume the toxic they show you. I always say the choice is yours either you choose to be wise or be stuck to something that won’t help you progress
It depends on what YOU decide to put on your screens. TV is just a medium some if you're one of those who says "tv sucks and its stupid" I can almost always know what you tend to watch. For that reason I only watch TH-cam because I watch only what I find resourceful.
It is a medium that in it’s current state is like a rotting side of beef, most will make you sick and though there might be something edible somewhere within, it is surrounded by poisonous rot. I find that it is best to avoid it. I don’t care to try to find something healthy by carving away layers and layers and layers of rot. Television is repulsive.
I haven't watched a second of television (other than stranger things) in 7 months. My productivity has gone through the roof. Kind of like George Costanza in Seinfeld when he doesn't have sex for a very long time 🤜🤛
There is a vast ocean separating these two men in terms of intelligence and it becomes abundantly clear pretty much from the outset of their conversation.
And your other comment, "you took the time to respond so you must feel your opinion is worthy, you are a walking contradiction", which you later deleted - Just because I think my opinion is worthy doesn't mean I look egotistical, if anyone leaves a reply to a comment anywhere does that make them egotistical? According to your logic, yes.
Channels like Kurzgesagt, Wendover Productions, PolyMatter, CNBC international and so forth are great when you want to enhance your knowledge and productivity, whereas channels like Jake Paul etc are not. I think it depends on the ratio of what "genres" you're watching.
I see it as a library. You can go to the non-fiction section or the reference section and even at times the fiction section and learn something or go to the comics section and rot your brain 😆
Hello Dr Peterson Watching Your Lecture on does TV make Us Dumb or smarter? I love Tv since the 50s . It’s entertainment and the best Way too travel. Love u💚
Ive been watching all your old interviews after I subbed... now you have one of the most influential thinkers of our day! Absolutely of Value and Entertainment ! Can I resub somewhere lol
It’s depends on what we are watching if it’s a good life movie that represents real life it’s somewhat okay depending on the age But if it ain’t educational for kids or a positive film movie then yes it makes us dumb
I believe just by watching a TV soap that you are doing yourself serious physiological harm. Every single scene is staged a thus would not play out that way in reality. For example to make a story work we have random characters appear in locations where they just wouldn't be, just so they can say their lines, after years of watching a person would gain a false perception of reality and be unhinged and separated. Documentaries however mostly state what they have done and how they've got there, filling in the blanks and creating a genuine picture re-enforcing perception of reality and is much more healthier instead of the falsities of a soap or drama which pushes the other way. To say TV reduces IQ depends also on what a person watches. We can watch a people walk around and talk all day long but this is not going to push a person to gain intellect. Neglecting work on brain health is the same as a person who never goes to the gym and just eats all day. They quickly become fat overweight which is frowned upon by most in society even if some still try to push the notion it's ok, it's been proven beyond doubt to have serious health implications. The stupid are many and the intelligent are few. We need stupid, but I do not think we should be allowed to encourage its growth by pushing people the wrong way. People will always be drawn to the stuff that does not sustain intellect because its physically less demanding, our brain consume 25% of the energy we eat after all. For example, do you get up and run to the kitchen to get your next drink or walk when there is no reason to get back before the ad break is over. No as it is less physically demanding and less unpleasant. This applies for brain training too. If something is hard to-do it's most likely benefiting you. In the long run you can train yourself to enjoy this activity like you can grow to like running it just takes the initial effort. The biggest issue I see is most people are in the notion that they cannot lose or gain intelligence and will be in a downward spiral for their foreseeable futures. Not the most enriching way to live to say the least. While society and technology gains, we will need more and more skilled people in the various technology sectors and creating people who can handle these jobs should be a priority. Unless the media address this notion nothing will change, the British broadcast corporation (BBC) has ran series in the past that fought this. An example would be Red Dwarf, encouraging people to think while adding humour to reduce the stress of the over thinking in a setting that was unfamiliar and non-confusable to our own making it psychologically healthy to watch also. The show would teeter from simple concepts such as eating a curry and drinking a beer to the near impossible to understand concepts such as parallel universes giving the viewer a nice variety of stuff to think about. People should be allowed to binge freely, but not making it common knowledge that TV has not been nick named the idiot box for no good reason is a little unfair. Personally, I would name it the mind melting box because if you were to watch it long enough, you’d not be good for much more other than walking around and speaking to people.
Television and increased nutrition has made people's IQs go up? I thought he said in another video that IQ was something that you were born with, and there was nothing you could do to increase it?
Everyone says that television programs are choosed by public. But you never know who is the public. Are you de public?Did you choosed that television show? NO YOU JUST WATCH THAT just like everyone else saying, "people choosed this".This is really confused.TH-cam its the MOST DEMOCRATIC WAY OF INFORMATION.
People who have gone through specific stresses often find the dark humor through simple outside recognition. It was also such an unexpected (yet obvious, if applicable) response to imply "if family sucks, then yes, daycare is better". The combo of brevity and darkness seems to have caught enough people off guard that the laughing slowly bloomed rather than exploding like it was some comedy show. It seems a reasonably appropriate response to me.
Wow, Peterson looks pretty spiffied up. His voice annoys me and the echo doesn’t help. Success has made him pretentious. It is my opinion that Peterson is bright but by no means an oracle. I do understand why many perceive Peterson to be an oracle. Considering the times we are living in (the dumbing down), being an oracle is relatively simple.

Has Jordan turned the TV on lately? The drivel that is televised these days is horrendous...

quite a good opinion there
It is just his opinion that is for sure.
It has nothing to do with intelligence, and everything to do with awareness and levels of consciousness.
