Our Hi-Fi reviewer Ed Selley gives you the complete run down on the BRAND NEW Bowers & Wilkins 702 S3 Signatures. So, what do you think? Are these the speakers for you? Let us know in the comments below!
I auditioned these at a Media Consulting Co in a sound treated room a few months ago. I had very, very high hopes to love them and buy them. I was disappointed becuase the sound was no better than my 8060 Def Techs at home and found the sound to be average for a $10,000 pair of speakers. Was it me? They offered me to bring in my Def Techs and do a side by side comparision which I hope to do soon.
I guarantee your 8060s don't image and are nowhere near as accurate as these. The just have built in subs. Don't get me wrong, that line of DT's is an amazing bang for the buck loudspeaker but these will outperform them everywhere except bass response. But that's what Rel subs are for.
Very good brief overview Ed, I'm curious which is the better speaker if you want the full range from just 2 speakers. I'm also looking at the Canton Reference 5 which is in the same price class. Can you shine a light on that?
Although these are alot newer, they share the same B&W DNA and signature sound with my current speakers. I have a set of 804s floorstanders which I recently did a side by side with the AE Coriniums, it was no contest, the AE's are much smoother and much more lush sound and sound far more open. I have auditioned the new 805D4 signatures and the 801D4 Signatures running on a set of EC monoblokcs, a big upgrade over my 15 yr old 800 series speakers but given the huge price tag hike, so they should be. After hearing the AE coriniums I couldn't in any way justify paying almost another 50% for a set of new 800 series bookshelfs. I have not heard the new 700 series so I cannot comment on how they stack up against older 800 series speakers, would be interesting to do a side by side and see if all the old tech has now trickled down into the 700 series.
I bought some headphones and the ear foam came apart. Called and they have a separate site to get new ones. Only they were out of stock forever. Doubt I buy anything from these guys again.
These speakers were horribly bright sounding i listened them at hifi show and they killed my ears with bright sound. Why bowers cant make a neutral speaker?

Acoustic Energy Corinium or these, which do you prefer and why?

what Marantz amp will they play best with?

60" full ribbon tweeter 😊
unless the title tries to kidnap our attention, otherwise 702 is not the best B&W speakers, how can it be must-have?
It's very hard for me to understand why this audio reviewer room is completely untreated acoustically.
B&W all day long.
Chi-fi audio, $1,000 per pair at best!
You mean they’re made in China? If they are then the 10k price tag would not make sense

About 14-15 years ago I tried out the 700 and 800 series and found that 700 series too bright as well. I ended up going the 804S.
Perhaps this is neutral because the original music sounds this bright..😊
