You sample the aromas like a pro whine sampler. My Dad used Old Spice during the 60's and 70's. I remember the 70's when I was a very young boy. I was fascinated with Dads Old Spice Cologne, Aftershave and Talc. Among many things, he left me all his Old Spice stuff. I love the aroma and I use it every day to this day. Primarily because it reminds me of my Dad, so I love the Old Spice range like family. I miss my Dad very much.

I have a sample! Been saving it. I recently traveled to spend time at my parent's house. Plan on recording this one with my Dad, who used to wear the original!!

@@signaturescents That’s perfect! I also think it makes a great winter holiday scent in general. This and Diver Down are my favourites. I’ll probably wear Speak Easy when spring rolls around.

Amazing video. finally the difference between the oldschool and that new Old Spice

Old Guy here. My Dad wore the original. My generation liked it well enough, but our girlfriends hated it. You are correct about it going out of fashion and coming back in almost an ironic popularity. It's similar to the Pabst Blue Ribbon story arc.

Great to hear you compare it to the original, you’re really opening up these scents man, thank you.

I wish there would be a chance to get them to produce a new batch of the original stuff. I would buy 6 crates of this immediatly.

you aren't kidding. I still have this bottle and the more I use it, the more I fall in love. This is going in my lifetime scents category. So good.

@@signaturescents I wish there would be away to get someone to produce the original formula. I mean the incrediences are well known. Someone has to be able to find the right mix and get it out. Why is procter & gamble not releasing a small batch for the old timers? It's very frustrating at times ...

I just got an unopened Shulton Old Spice aftershave and talc gift set from the 80s off Vinted for £6. It seems to be in very good condition, probably because it's never been opened.
I am so, so happy with it because I get such a strong carnation note which I adore as well as a vanillary, powdery amber dry down, you're so right about the almost gourmand aspect to the fragrance. There are so few scents with carnation and it's a fragrance I've always loved, I'm overjoyed to have this scent in my perfume drawer.
I'm excited to wear this, I don't care that it's officially a man's scent, it really suits my skin.

I have several bottles of Old Spice Lime from India, but not regular original Old Spice. The lime is very nice, but I have noticed that the Indian bottles are marked "Shulton" and not Proctor & Gamble!

What an amazing review! Very informative. I use the Old Spice after shave here in India almost every other day and I guess the smell you described here matches my experience quite well. Especially after the alcohol evaporates. It's a Rosey-Vanilla-Spicy-Powdery scent....very refreshing and yet at the same time, very comforting!

My father, grandfather, & great-grandfather wore Old Spice. I loved it. I bought my father some a couple of years ago & you can tell the formula has been changed. I do not like it, neither does my mother.

Enjoyed your video review. 👍. What is the cutoff of the original used Shulton recipe and is there a date range to stay within? E.g. If prior a certain date, it may not retain its smell etc. Thanks

I have several empty old glass Old Spice bottles which were rinsed with distilled water; I put in some current Old Spice aftershave and now it smells like alcohol and nothing like Old Spice. What have I done wrong?

the original was way more spicy. the newer stuff has more citrus and sweetness. and also alot lighter. old stuff was super strong

The modern old spice is definitely diluted down as the scent doesnt last as long - i used to wear this in the 80s and it lasted all night now when i splash it on you cant smell it after an hour or so

Just bought a bottle of Old Spice today as a reminder of my Dad, it does not smell like the Old Spice of my memory 70s/80s era 😕

  • @beachlife4704

I received the after shave and cologne of this same era and they both smell bad. I am so disappointed. They both have that vinegar scent to them. Whoever owned these maybe didn't store them properly. I don't know. I might dump out the contents and replace it with after shave and cologne from the 90's glass bottles which I have and are still good.

Dang, i guess its hit or miss. Before I was banned from ebay (actually due to someone selling me fake polo and when i complained they got me banned somehow), I would look for sellers that had the returns option available. I returned many, many scents while shopping there. best of luck in the future. oh btw, it seems there is a market for bottle collectors who collect empty ones. and.....one time i bought a vintage 1970's cologne, and it smelled vinegary at first. then after spraying it a few times, it came around. it was like it needed air or something.

@@signaturescents I have been experimenting with both of these and nothing makes them better. I will probably end up dumping them out, cleaning them, then filling them with 1997 Old Spice that I know is good.
