    I am Pakistani who was born Muslim, as i started to explore spirituality and my soul and its purpose, with time i have figured out many soul companions and guides, including Jada Pinket Smith, Radhi Shetty, Sadhguru, Raddhinat Swami, Gutman Buddha, Shams of Tibrez, Rumi, Bulle Shah. I have learnt that many of them heavily are seekers of Gita's teachings and messages, that brings me here. I wanna learn about Hinduism and Buddhism more and more, as i have realised that Abraham Religions work maybe 80% for me but my 20% needs salvation. Thanks to everyone through whom i have been able to come to this point of connection with Gita and my soul. 💖

    Seems to me message of Gita is not to identify oneself as Hindu, or any other temporary material thing. After all the word Hindu is nowhere mentioned in the Scriptures and is a recent thing. Also it divides People as we are all Spirit Souls part of the Supreme Spirit. When People are divided they fight over the smallest things. But I have to admit that nowadays things are complicated due to falsely identifying with the body. Jai Shri Rama. Jai Shri Krishna. Jaya Radhay.

      Hindu is not anything religious it was a name given to those who lived in the region of indus.
      When the concept of religion came to india they started differentiating people who didn’t believe in their religion and named them as hindus.
      And Geeta is universal truth it is not specifically for some community or set of people. When you read it without any biases in mind you will get it.

      What U wrote is very true Anukriti Verrma.
      • Bhagavad Gita gives everyone of us absolute freedom to do whatever we want.
      • In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna never judged or ordered; He only explained to Arjuna the pros and cons of every issue and was left to Arjuna whether to follow his teachings or not.
      • Lord Krishna did not even influence the free will of Arjuna. Arjuna had the right to accept everything Lord Krishna taught or reject everything Lord Krishna taught.
      • In fact, at the end of Mahabharata, Rishi Veda Vyasa has to teach a very disheartened Arjuna, the whole of Bhagavad Gita again.
      • It advocates selfless actions (Nishkama Karma). It teaches the importance of annihilation of desire and ego.
      The beauty of the Bhagavad Gita is that it requires of a man complete change of consciousness rather than mere changes in lifestyle or in outward appearances.
      It advocates a balanced life.
      It never ever asks anyone to run away from life.
      Instead it asks everyone to fully participate in life.
      Please read my book “ Amazing Secrets of the Bhagavad Gita” ..( www.amazinggita.com) which is subjectwise.

      Anukriti Verma your hypocrisy insults their intelligence.(i.e I have never been religious.)I think you would not understand the book of self knowledge(Gita) and the explanation of this videos.As you said you are not Religious. often those that criticize others reveal what he himself lacks. Hypocrisy annoying me,people need to looks into mirrors,let me hold a mirror in front of your face. I'm convinced that most people don't know what they believe,Rather,they only know what they wish to believe. we just continues to mange enternal and internal darkness.krishna bless the future of world as he blessed the descendent of Bharata.

    I don't know where and in which Gita it is said that "when we understand other we understand the universe". I think the Hindu philosophy emphasizes on knowing ourselves first to know the universe. So, it is more like "tat tvam asi" i.e. you yourself contain the tatva you are are looking for.

Thank you to people who have written a list on how to start. I'm almost done with the Mahabharata and the the Ramayana. And then I'm going to the the Bhagavad Gita. Then to the upanishads and then to the Rig Vedas. If anybody has any wisdom to give me on reading and understanding please let me know. Thank you.

    I’m looking for a good introductory video to show my friend. I figure if he watches something interesting on it, he may then be motivated to read the Gita for himself. Can anyone recommend such a video? I thought this one might have been it, but again, it’s less about the Gita than I thought it would be. Still a good vid though.

    Here I am giving the a bit summary of Vedanta to remove confusion regarding pluralism of God-
    Ultimate Brahma is only reality, it is without form, without any material quality (like Hegel and Spinoza's god in western world) etc. Each body has holy spirit which is pure a and similar to Brahma. Soul is itself Brahma but when spirit associated with body(form with material world), as a material quality, spirit forgot the real nature of its purity and start take participation in this material world. It causes for the sad, happiness, frustration etc.. So this cause for the bondage of spirit......So how we can find the liberation.??? Spirit + Soul is a finite one who is willing to find infinite one (Brahma) while spirit is itself a infinite. So here comes the role of different god. Vedant and Bhagvad Gita propounded that there are many path which are different path to reach one destination. So people make their own ideal god according to their own comfort way (like-Lord Rama for idealistic person, Lord Krishna for realistic persons, Durga Goddess to remark victory of good over bad etc etc ..) who had done remarkable work based on their some principles based on like- truth, honesty, welfare and serving people etc)which become an ideal way to find the liberation. Their path principles become the bench mark and people like to follow their path to find the liberation.
    But again How a spirit can realize the true nature of its purity i.e. Brahma. Actually these refined pure commandments and principles help and cause for the removal of ignorance (material qualities) for true nature of its spirit and when these principles follow then it starts realising its true nature and ultimately it realises its own real nature ie. Brahma himself.

    Hi Great information! I really liked this pictorial depiction.
    I have one suggestion to make: Kindly make sure that the actual words remain unchanged even if you are using English language to describe it. Like: YajurvedA whose actual name and pronunciation is in Sanskrit: Yajurved (No 'A' while writing and 'aa' while pronouncing); 'Arjun' and not Arjun'a'; Pandav not Pandav'aas', etc :)
    This extra 'aa' has been added by people who do not know its meaning, nor know Sanskrit.
    This is just a suggestion to make sure the actual words and hence its meaning remain intact and right words will be communicated to masses! :)
    I really appreciate your efforts in spreading information about these topics! :)
    Thanks! :)

    What Lord Sri Krishna taught
    ======================
    Lord Krishna in Gita, taught many paths and indicated that depending on the inborn tendencies or 'nature'* and the stage of life (child, youth, old) and the state of life (family or no-family, dependents or no-dependents), one path is more suited than another.
    The path that might be suitable for a seventy years old retired man with thirtyfive years old children might not be suitable for a thirtyfive year old lady with six years old children.
    The path that might be suitable for a recluse without family, relationships, living away from the society might not be suitable for a man with job, family, children mortgage, bank accounts, loans, medicine bills and family parties.
    For Arjuna, in that age and that state of life, 'jnana yoga', 'the path of true knowledge' or 'living the the knowledge of advaita' was not suitable.
    For Arjuna, 'Karma Yoga' the 'path of the surrendered, selfless action' was more suitable.
    For the women like Draupadi, for Kunti, for Gandhari because of the state of the society at that time and the duties defined for the women at that time, the 'bhakti yoga', the 'path of surrender, devotion, prayer, love, obedience and selfless service' might have been more suitable.
    Many Indian saints, sages and jnani including Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharishi who took the path of 'Jnana yoga' or 'living the truth of advaita' said that the body was a bondage, the body was a limitation, the body was a burden on the path of ‘living jnana’. In other words, many of them acknowledged that 'living the truth of advaita' was hard because of the body.
    ===
    *Example: Arjuna is Kshatriyas, warrior and his nature was to fight for justice, his natural assets were courage, resolve, strength and bravery.

      Krishna talked of different ways:
      The way of Krishna - the way of Avatara* - the way of leela*: Lord Sri Krishna plays the human life including all its ups and downs, pleasures and pains, wins and defeats, sorrow and happiness without forgetting his essential reality. Krishna welcomes pleasure and pain, sorrow and happiness. Krishna doesn’t need to ask... ...“why”. Krishna knows this is the part of the leela, part of the play. Krishna knows this is the part of the play he has already agreed to play. Knowing this, Krishna looks forward to both pleasure and pain, sorrow and happiness, agony and bliss.
      Yoga
      ===
      Yoga means union - union of the body with the mind, union of the spirit with the action, union of jnana (knowledge) with action, union of breathing with the movement, union of teachings (or beliefs) with action, union of surrender with action, union of love with action, union of devotion with action.
      Yoga means… ...union of the inner with the outer. Yoga means the mind, breathing and the body move together in unison in one action, in one movement.
      Yoga means the separation between the inner and the outer has ended, the separation between the mind and the body has ended.
      Yoga means knowledge, thinking and action are in perfect alignment.
      Yoga means what I know, what I think and what I do are same.
      ====
      Avatara*: the one who plays the leela, the human drama willingly, by his/her own choosing but, without forgetting his/her essential reality. The Avatara welcomes and embraces the human life in its entirety - its ups and downs, success and failure, pleasure and pain as if he/she has personally chosen it.

      Achieve the union of the body and the soul, mind and the body, stillness and the movement, inner and the outer. Move in the world while remaining still within. Act while remaining in touch with the inner self. Look out without losing sight of what lies within.
      See outer in the inner. See the inner in the outer. See one as the reflection of the other. When the heart is filled with love and gratitude, the outer feels nice and pleasant. When the heart is filled with anger and grief, the outer feels hostile and unpleasant. See this connection and move in the world with that knowledge. Be still within while you move in the outer. Take care of the inner while you move in the outer.
