- Basic Story: Luka Umbra is a shadow dragon, he's been oppressed all his life and is set on getting revenge against humans. He is so obsessed with vengeance that he becomes blind to his own best friend, Vayen, who falls in love with a human girl. Out of jealous rage, Luka loses his mind with hurt and paranoia. However, he can see the monster that he's becoming, and he likes it.
So, this is my first OC animatic! At least, it's the first one I'm happy with! It's mostly just for fun, I wanted to get an idea out for these characters, so I apologize if things are a little jittery... I'm hoping you like the idea! I have to work on Luka's story itself, but I wanted to have some fun with this! (I did all the boards in like... two weeks so this is by no means professional haha!)
The music, as said in the credits, is Monster by Willyecho. I do NOT own the rights to it, and nor am I claiming them, I just wanted to do this for fun and show you guys!

More like when your homie steals the girl you like and then expects you to be chill about it so after failing at getting payback enough times you lose it and take things too far.
Tbh I don't feel like a monster I shouldn't of had to apologise to her considering she went accusing me of stuff on his account then tried banning me from his account and he wants me to believe she's a nice girl.
You know for a dragon like person who's killed lots of people, he did just get knocked over by a punch three times! Conclusion his friend must never skip arm day!
It's my interpretation that Luka didn't want to hurt Vayen, or he couldn't bring himself to. Because no matter how much of a monster he became, he could never hurt someone he loved and cared about.
i think vayen is also a dragon. the 2 men are dragons but one fell in love with the human girl and the other didnt like that which is why the punches were more effective

The movement and style are amazing! But my favorite part is definitely the expressions, I love that you still show things like shock, hurt, and sadness, even it’s just a frame, to really flesh out the “monster” character. It’s like he feels both a thrill from being a monster but also hates himself for it.

In the beginning part, the: "I can be rude, be in a mood, I can be rotten,
I can be cruel, might act a fool, but never forgotten" part, I absolutely LOVED his expressions, cos you get that while he seems to revel in his revenge and his beastly actions, he also seems regretful or distraught about it. How there's so much story conveyed in almost everything.
The transition eye part? Delicious.
The part where he looks like water or a sea wave and attacks humans makes me think of the stories people must make about him and how many he must have attacked.
The way he moves and acts more beastly in a fight, how towards the end when the song goes "Huwa!" And he turns his head and his face looks so inhuman is so cool omg,,.
The expressions and body language, your artstyle, just HHH ITSSO GOOD.
Honestly this video is so amazing. I've probably rewatched it like seven times now, with more times to come.

I mean, seriously, get real people, though it's not the best way out, logically being mistreated from a young age would teach you that's how to treat people you hate. So, when he was able to show them how he felt, what he had become, he did what they did to him.
Murder, hurt, never caring for emotions, feelings, life, anything...
No-one had been there to teach him not to untill it was to late.
And when his only friend fell in love with a human, he stopped caring at all. To only have one friend in the wild cruel world is heartbreaking, but for them to then choose those who broke and hurt you your whole life, you would be driven over the edge to insanity...
The monster character (let's call him Olvidada), is, in short, a very tragic character to me, and I only wish he could have had a better life.
p.s. Olvidada is Spanish for 'forgotten'.

I thought he kinda looked like a shadow in that scene. It looked really neat to me. Also, yeah, loved that scene in the end, revealing a more animalistic face.
Edit: Now that I think about it, it's probably the blood of his victims.

i'm torn between knowing that's kind of an overdone, pretty homophobic trope, and that being one of my favorite tropes of all time. (kinda like the whole "i hate queer-coding villainy because that links being queer to evil, degeneracy, etc" but also "i love queer characters, and evil degenerate characters, and the combination of the two is iconic" struggle)

The description explains that they're best friends, and apparently got jealous of his friends new love interest. If you're gaydar is correct, it's only a one-sided crush :(

The expressions in this are incredible, my favorite bit is the very end where there the change in “monster” guy’s eyes back to normal after having been glowing. Maybe the other guy knew he couldn’t control the monster inside, and that’s why he looked so conflicted when fighting him. (3:53-3:54)

This is so excellent. You can feel his breathing rage. You uncover an empathy, and a desire for his success. No matter how terrible, succession for him may be. I adore your style and plotting! I cannot wait for future content featuring these characters! Best of wishes :)
I love how Monster was written next to the guy’s head at the end like he had become the monster. Not sure that was the intention but I thought it was such a cool detail.
I agree. I wanna believe that it’s from Luka’s perspective. That his best friend (if he is in fact a dragon person like him) was now with what they perceived as the enemy (humans). I assume they are both dragon people because it says in the description that Luka sought vengeance against humanity for oppressing him.
So, it’s safe to say he wouldn’t make one of them his best friend. Plus, the two are shown fighting hordes of people off together before meeting that *cough* homewrecker.
Therefore, in the end, his buddy became a monster in his eyes.
I was actually really sad about the ending to this and had been in Luka’s corner the entire video. I get it that he was kinda going nuts and killing people, but it seems like they were doing that together in the beginning anyways. So… the other dude is just sorta contradicting himself by calling Luka a monster for continuing on with it.
I think my cheese would slide off my cracker, too, if my best friend turned his back on me and left me alone like that. I really hope they make another part to this story!!
I interpreted it as the way Vayen (the guy you're talking about) now sees Luka (the dragon guy). I could actually see Vayen saying that to him in that moment.
The story, the frames, the expressions, the song choice, gonna make me cry so perfect.
The transitions to and from the liquid murder is my favorite part.

The frame at 3.29, is just 'mwuah' I don't know why I like it so much but the pure insanity and villain characteristics shown in one facial expression. Also the idea with this dragon humanoid race thingy is super cool! On one hand this character can look very human, and on the other he can look definitely the opposite.

God I love stories like this. Villains who grow more and more monstrous, but at the end when their once-allies (or even friends) are holding them at bladepoint, sobbing at the fact this fight had to happen, the villain doesn't back down - they chose their side and the only way to end it is to kill them. And if the hero can't do it... well, the villain certainly can!
Omg YES! Finally a “villain” with a good backstory! Usually movies and tv shows and other animatics are just like:
This person is villain, he hates main character. Why? Idk he just does ok!? Now main character wants villain dead, but that doesn’t mean main character’s evil cause he’s main character. Now no one knows much about villain other than he’s obviously evil just cause he looks like he is, and has a villain-y name.
See where I’m coming from? Anyway this is really good and I’ve been watching it on replay for maybe 30 minutes now! Keep up the amazing work!

Woaaaahhh... Raw emotion. It sounds like he likes the power, but deep down hates who he's become. He doesn't want to be a monster, he wants power and love. Humans only ever take, take, take, so in his mind, they must be eliminated. They even took is best friend (and possible crush)!

Edit: Your expressions create emotions that I cannot put into words, they change and mingle and show different thought processes that go with their body language, and honestly, this was a beautiful piece of work. Instead of fear, surprise, sadness, longing, and anger, you create terror, shock, misery, desire, and fury. Even the /smallest/ detail- Vayen has fangs too, but he only showed them when he was scared or shocked, where Luka shows them through hunger and being sadistic. It would make my day to see more. This is the first video I have ever seen of yours - I'm struck. Keep going.

I am happy that you put the story of it in the description, I love making my own theories or stories and seeing others when it comes to these kinds of things but I love knowing the creator's story for the characters as well.

I can emphatize with Luka. Does that make his actions okay? Not really, but I understand where he's coming from. Not only did his best friend "betray" him by falling for the "enemy", Vayen /actively pushed Luka away and walked out of his life/. He chose the "enemy" over him. Of course Luka would be hurt and angry, and try to take his rage out on the person that, in his eyes, took his best friend away from him.
Luka needs someone to give him a hug and tell him that it will be alright, and I volunteer as tribute.
That being said, I loved this! The way you convey emotions through the eyes is amazing, overall the characters' expressions stood out to me the most with how well they show what's going through their minds. It's four minutes, yet you told an entire story even without the context in the description!

Wow, this is incredible! And you did the boards in 2 weeks?! I could never imagine doing something like this. And the whole story going on in the background, with the cute character designs? POW! I am just blown away- this is amazing! There is so much I like about the character design but honestly, that hair style is probably my favourite, it's just so fluffy/ bouncy and just looks like something you expect to see on a prince charming! I'm in love!
As someone who has watched a lot of animatics, I must say this was amazing! You have some real talent and I hope to see more! This story line has a lot of potential and you have a lot of room to grow. Hope you continue!

Sorry this is long I just really love this. This animatic is amazing, I’ve already listened to it more then a hundred times. The feelings and expectations are really realistic especially in the fact that the emotions are quick because that’s what they are on real people flash’s but the ones you do draw out are the right ones. This is hands down the best one I’ve ever seen. I would love to see a character profile for these character and read there story but in all honesty I would be fine with just listening to this for the rest of my life.
Even though this is 2 years old (which isn’t a long time I just feel old) I still come back to this with very fond memories and curiosity and a need for more backstory.
