They only did this to avoid legal action. Yes it’s a temporary win but I don’t see it helping out in the long term.
Yeah, pretty sure this was a change dictated either by Legal or they got a call from one of the AGs.
Please explain how the communicated change could have led to legal action? I’m not being facetious - I just don’t understand how.
@@jackboyfield5468 Players could spend money on tokens which they understood could be used to purchase season passes. A company saying that the thing consumers purchased could not be used for the purpose they have purchased it for would either have to refund all their customers or risk legal action.
Let's throw a hypothetical situation out there. Let's say Ticketmaster allowed customers to pay for a pre-sale queue that would allow them to, among other things, purchase Taylor Swift tickets ahead of the general public. Then one day they suddenly announced that the queue can no longer be applied to the upcoming Swift tour. That's what happened here on a much, much, _much_ smaller scale.

It strikes me as a slightly frivolous lawsuit but you are right… the risk is certainly there from a business perspective and the last thing they need is tying up in litigation.

They just made sure they can't get sued, but they didn't listen to our feedback at all. The change has only been postoponed, so nothing has changed.
Yh sort of, it's definitely a temporary change but on the positive side of things this change can set up a bigger change that lasts for at least a couple more seasons and benefits both the business and the players alike
Hope they make it permanent and reduce the price since 990 is a bit much now since each season has 2 passes.
It clearly says in the pit stop that The option to purchase these Golden Pass Credits with Tokens will be available until May 16. After that, goodbye. Real money only.
990 is still $10 and if you want both it’s $20 so they didn’t even do anything if you want them both you still have to pay $20 if you don’t have the tokens
These changes make it unfeasible to buy the pass here in Brazil, the price of two parts of a pass is equivalent to $100 for u guys. It's sad that Gameloft doesn't care about most players outside your region. For me, it's definitely not worth spending a single penny on this game.

as you said, this is a patch for a tremendous wound, the main problem will continue in the coming months.
Unfortunately, it does not fix the problem for free to play players to unlock the Golden Passes without spending $120 a year after May 16. This game being free to play was questionable before but even less so now.
Currently. If you can get 5 characters to level 26 in Ranked, you can earn 1055 blue tokens. (211 for each character). Currently there are 50 characters. If they could get all the characters to level 26, that would have been 10,550 blue tokens, enough to buy 10 Golden Passes with 650 blue tokens to spare, with the potential to earn an additional 1055 blue tokens with the 5 Wreck it Ralph Characters (more of course if they go above level 26, as well as leveling up any mid-season racers). So, the potential to unlock the Golden Passes was there under the old system for free to play players if they saved the blue tokens and only used them on Golden Passes and played Ranked Multiplayer.
Greed is going to ruin this game, which is unfortunate because it's quite gun at it's core. And I'm not sure I'd even trust them with the Golden Pass tokens much further than Season 8. The blue tokens were advertised to buy the Golden Tokens before this and they changed that. Who's to say that they don't make an announcement a couple of seasons later that they can no longer accept the Golden Tokens and will convert them back to blue coins?
They created panic around the entire situation so people, like me, used their tokens on some things, and now they're saying tokens can help purchase credits. It's a terrible solution, really. Honestly, they don't deserve any money we have to give.
I kept my tokens exactly bc of this.

@@skyliner_productions What they did is they just allow you to buy with tokens during the first part of the season. For the second part, when there will most likely be a patch, they will remove the option to buy with tokens. A band-aid as you said. Nothing more. Well at least I know I will spend my tokens for a bunch of these.

Nope did not listen at all, however yes they kinda did. So you can use tokens to buy credits for gp untill 16th may, after that the gp is paid only with real money not tokens. Also season is still part 1 and part 2 with 2 passes
Guess I'll say it again here since stream vod comments are more nebulous. They didn't listen. The only change they made is one to avoid a class action lawsuit from people who bought tokens. That's all they care about.
I think Gameloft was silent in social media because they were chating with their lawers about possible legal actions and that was their solution. Gameloft really don't care about us

They didn’t listen whatsoever. They heard people saying they bought tokens to buy the pass and realized that they could get sued and didn’t want to issue refund, so they just delayed everything.
I hope this means Season 7 starts tomorrow.
Gameloft is in a situation in which, unless they delay S7 even further, this is what they can implement in the game right now.
This is a hole they put themselves in, and this is nothing more than a band-aid they put over it.
Im sure they'll say more before May 16th. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

Is there a way to see how many tokens you have? I got a few from the legendary pack, but not sure where to see them.
Unfortunately I believe you can only check when going to purchase a Golden Pass
It's important to realize this isn't a change. Their push into a psudo-subscription based system is still in full effect. They are simply allowing those that bought tokens ahead of time, to use them for golden pass credits for pretty much exactly one month. It was a huge, justified complaint so this is good.
However, do not expect to use tokens for the new tournament system, I'm sure that's still money only. And while f2p can slightly take advantage of this for a brief moment, in the end the new system will take over.
I am very curious to see what the amount of rewards the new season golden passes offer. Is it less? exactly the same? far greater? I guess we find out in a few hours.
Corporate greed at its finest. Make sure to cover you're own ass before screwing over everyone elses.

Nah this is still terrible. Shouldn’t have to grind this game for more hours than my job to be able to continue to get the battle pass. I think I’m out at this point
They removed the $100 Legendary pack
They absolutely saved their butts with this one.
Pretty sure this is us just to calm the outrage and also get as much money as they can from people trying to stock up before their arbitrary deadline. Nothing has really changed and given the likely influx of people trying to use tokens while they have any value for the Golden Pass, they'll make more money before going back to the planned gouge.
Free to play players get 3 racers if you think about it they usually do a common racer for free a racer in the seson tour and a racer which is usually a brawler through an Event i noticed as long as i can unlock the racers i want i'll be fine honestly

I'm curious, what other game allows you to buy their Battle Pass (without paying real money) with their own in-game currency that you can grind for?

I'm happy with this change for now... on the one hand I'll be able to buy Vanellope's pass (my favorite character), but on the other hand, I'm outraged that I won't be able to buy the second pass. I farmed tokens with almost all of my characters unlocked, 13 out of 25 characters have already reached platinum (each character gives 100 tokens until platinum)... if I had waited until the last day, I don't think I would have bought the season pass 6 :/... but now I'm even more dedicated to trying to get the second pass.
I gots a question so vault islands um how do unlock? Has there been any info on that?
Is there a way to see how many golden pass credits we have?
Also.. I’m thinking about buying 100$ worth of coins and buying as many pass credits as possible. Is there any reason that wouldn’t be a good idea?

so they made us use our tokens for not losing them and now we have to purchase them to get the pass :l
For 990 tokens we should get 2 golden pass tokens. My problem is that there are 2 passes a month. The tokens I have saved are around 4000, under the old system that was 4 season. With the new one that's only 2 seasons. I need to see the roadmap to see if I want to buy the up coming seasons.
I think what's ridiculous is us, as players, who are there to provide criticism and feedback, all get ignored by Gameloft just over a simple change that could have been made. This basically proves that Gameloft only cares about getting momey from its players. What a bunch of greedy people, I swear...

I mean as a person who does not mind spending 20 bucks on a game I love for 1 and 1/2 months of rewards like just do chores you guys want to have fun and sit being lazy instead of doing chores or getting a job and you can no tell me that’s impossible when I have two jobs at 14
the real problem is they now want $ for golden pass so that mean you not going to get pass in return, now thats fine with me but i think if we spending money on golden pass they need to remove the time gate and making passes this way: buy once have forever, like an dlc\expansion pack.

This, to me, proves that they don't care. Instead of just going back and removing the 10 dollar payment, they just decide to temporarily placate players by letting them buy tokens for ONE MONTH. I've gotten all 50 characters now as a F2P player, and this still isn't worth it. This proves to me that they won't change anything. As such, I'm done. It was fun while it lasted.

I am actually SO HAPPY with these changes! I’m going to buy some tokens on the game’s store. Since I haven’t bought ANYTHING on this game for over a year, so, when I get some tokens tomorrow, I’ll DEFINITELY be taking advantage of the golden pass credits.

So, let me understand this. If i spend 990 tokens for a Golden Pass token, that means i can get the whole premium Golden Pass or just a single tier?
you would get part 1 of the pass you still need to grind exp for the tiers tho oh and to get part 2 you would need another token
Half of the full pass. They'll split it in 2 coming with S7.
