It was the first thing I noticed about this new season. Gameloft gives with one hand and takes away with the other.

My man, companies have entire departments dedicate to mathing this stuff out. It's as intentional as it can get.
So glad someone is finally talking about this. Ever since the change I have only leveled characters that are required to complete things and that is it because we are not getting nearly enough upgrade coins. The coins should be so abundant and the shards need to be the rarer currency
I agree 1000%
The easiest change for them to make is surely to make the Racer Boost give enough materials to level up that character once. This would have made more sense with the old system since there were unique parts, but even now it would still work. You get to actually upgrade who you want, you get to feel as if you're making progress and not using materials you'll miss elsewhere, and since there are 50+ racers it would still take years to max out everyone that way, so Gameloft aren't missing out on their whales paying them. But this is all too reasonable so it would obviously never happen.
Math at this early in the day. Of course we will run out of coins. Because the devs hate us.
U think the devs are doing an amazing job. The monetization department, though...
Called it. More flexible currency means they'll give less of it.
We can earn less than we need for leveling the racers to be able to earn with them, a constant net loss.
It'll feel miserable once we're out of "grandfather coins".

Thanks for talking about this. I realized after a day or two that there are not enough coins to go around for any kind of sustainable system.
Oh, boy... I knew it something was wrong... the racer boost rewards was strange low even for lvl +40 racers, i really hold my upgrade coins and only use it when is necessary to level up some character to complete Tour Nodes or LTE.
You get the most from lvl 45, 1k coins. I wouldn't level past that ever.
The bonus racer gives more than that if it's lvl 30+.
Quick note, you only get 2400 upgrade coins from 0-15 MPR (which you can obtain even if you dont win races) which still wont get you many levels. But its something to bare in mind if you want to make a little progression with each racer or save them all to invest in your favourite, but in my opinion prioritise the racers needed to compete in the season tour
Speedstorm's death can't come any sooner, can it?
This is why my goal is to just get who I didn't have at 3 stars yet last season up to level 30, and then take it from there on a case by case basis if they need to be higher for an event or season tour race.
As of today friday the 26th, they added upgrade coins to the shop for tokens. But wow are they pricey!
Here’s my take in all this. Gameloft wants to make money and make this game last a long time. They are intentionally limiting upgrade coins so you can’t max out every racer in record time. They want you to be here for the long haul while you empty out your life savings into this game.
Back when Season 7 first dropped, one of my friends was immediately upset about the change in upgrading characters. At first, I was mixed about this, but the more I played Speedstorm, the more I start to realize he was right to be upset.
Upgrading racers has never been such a tedious chore as it is now. Whether it be a lack of shards or coins, there's nothing more infuriating than not being able to upgrade characters to the levels you want them at. Especially if racers are needed for certain Season Tour missions.
If I'd known that not only would the upgrade system would get an overhaul, but would also be tedious as hell, I would've upgraded a good number of characters LONG beforehand.
I'm pretty sure they only want a player to max out 1 or less characers a season. Which would be fine, if it didn't affect crew as you stated. Maybe they just need to allow all four slots at level 40. One would want 50 eventually for the extra stats, but at least would have the crew. Also, sometimes you can buy upgrade coins in the season shop for season currency. It would not surprise me if they add upgrade coins for tokens as well eventually.

little side note - You misscalculated the Total - it´s 114.010 Coins to max out a Racer. You embezzled 50 coins ;O
Some other funfacts about the upgradecoins (uc):
lvl 42 is "coinvise" lvl 25 since at lvl 42 you´ve spended 50% (58.000) of the needed uc per Racer.
Currently the Total Needed to Max out all Racer (inlcuding Ralph and Seargent) is 6.270.550 uc
My current average is 5.070 uc per day since Season started - wich will probably drop down since i finished Vault pass (premium) and soon the Golden Pass (premium) is done aswell
I can relate; it has been both easier and harder to upgrade my favorite racers in Speedstorm since upgrade coins replaced the many different upgrade parts; easier because upgrade coins can be used on any racer, and harder because upgrading my favorite racers goes through upgrade coins like a Sega Game Gear goes through AA batteries; very quickly.
I do have a lot of season coins, and although upgrade coins sometimes appear at the shop, they're only available at certain times. Of course, if they were at the shop more often, that would make upgrading racers too easy.
I unlock way more than half of the characters and I’m a free-to-play player and I just started playing at the end of season 5. You can’t buy skills 😎
With the old system it was easy-ish to upgrade to level 40 and really racer-boost-consuming to earn those lat 10 levels. They kinda kept it that way with the new system, but locked up the fifth star behind that grind/strategical choice.
This has made me lose interest far quicker than the season pass change. I feel like I now don’t particularly want character shards anymore feeling like I wouldn’t upgrade them anyway. Starting to think this could be my last season
The real way to do the golden pass is work ur way up to lvl 35 before you buy it BUT buy the Golden Pass Bundle so that you auto complete the rest of the season’s levels since it gives you 15 levels.
Honestly I don’t agree about most of the upgrade coins stuff but the old system had a bunch of random upgrade parts that were difficult or confusing to acquire while the new one is simpler BUT, unfortunately, incentivizes more spending of REAL money to get upgrade coins.
Guys, I got to tell you guys something you can get venelpoy or Candy Lady from video game movie for free and it's not a clip bat it's 100% real and it's with a bug in the king candy special edition play pack or what ever it's called but it's in limited events once there just play it until we're is the tamagachi praise thing once there just play it and some how the price thing will not go away then just grind it until you finally get her it's with patients but it's worth it
I went from over 150k to 49k coins after leveling up good chunk of racers.
I found out that I will not have enough to max out most of my characters so now I’m saving as much as I can so I can level up any units below 30 to 30

As if no golden pass and crippling the immersion through missing voices wasn't bad enough. At this rate this may indeed be my last season if nothing improves. As things have become far too beyond my reach I finally started to feel the pointlessness as until now things that seemed undoable but could be with some grind against one's better judgement; now we're getting outright locked out of...everything really at a very slow pace. Just getting that "I evidently cannot get it/reach it anymore, so why bother?" feeling.
I am in survival mode. If i dont NEED to spend the coins, i WONT spend them. They're gonna bamboozle me in the last few chapters of the Season Tour and im gonna be ready!!
I mean I saved my coins didn’t go crazy spending like most just going to safe and upgrade characters when I need to most my character are already 30+ before the upgrade so I’m good. Got around 400000 in reserve when needed
They need to atleast triple or quadruple the ammount we get usually, we know they can listen to us if we really push what we want like with the golden pass change and they gave us a month to get some gold pass tokens without money
That only happened bc potential lawsuits, that won't apply in this case.
If you spend wisely you will have enough
This is literally how you kill a game. Whales won't be enough to keep it alive once they get bored and move on. Shame cause I really enjoyed my time with it.
I just started playing and for us new players, we have to either dedicate our coins to 1 character. What’s the fun in that, I have my vanellope lvl 30 and it looks like that’s where ima have to stop leveling her and level up other characters needed to complete all season levels.
I got carried away levelling racers up and ran out in the first couple days 😬
Honestly they don’t even have to give us more coins. They could just as easily reduce the coins needed per level. Either way they definitely need to rebalance the coin system
Coming back after quitting in season 3 i found myself with only 150k points upon returning this season, that sounds like a lot but i promise you it didnt go far, Now i find myself struggling to build those back up, not enough to be earnt daily, This is probably because they want you to spend the Blue tokens on upgrading and splashing your season coins on the overpriced store
I'm only upgrading characters I feel like I HAVE to, and only to the level I need. I stop after that.

We need to be getting 4k+ coins daily we're getting below 2k we also need to be getting like 2k per rank up in ranked not 300 we also need weekly coin event of like for like 75k regulated needs to be giving like 5k coins too
I from the start could tell we would run out and i also felt the conversion was dogshit instead of 600k coins i should've easily gotten like 1.5 million

We don’t even have good ways to spend on this system either. The only way is to buy more when you’re out of upgrade coins and it’s an AWFUL 3 coins per token which is insane

A lot of doom and gloom on this channel recently. It's sad because you were one of the most enthusiastic people I followed for this game. But it seems like it is starting to lose you, and that's always such a sad thing to happen. It sucks because this game has a lot of potential, but the greed is ruining it. The greed seems to be to compensate for the lost players, but it's a vicious cycle... because the greedier it gets, the fewer players it will get. Which means it will just keep getting greedier and greedier.
You had a palpable excitement in your video about the beginning of season 7, but it seems like a lot of us, that initial run just isn't informing enjoyment further. I know I loved it at first. But now that I see what is required just to get the recommended levels to get to the end of Part 1? Assuming Part 2 picks up where it left off and doesn't reset to needing only level 5 characters in its first chapter, there's a distinct possibility I might not even be able to finish the full season, which would be a first for me since starting in Aladdin.
I’m still enthusiastic about the season and think it was a relatively positive update, or at least a fun one. I just need to call gameloft out when they make bad decisions, and along with all the positives, there was a lot of negatives in the new update
This is why I’ve been stingy with mine. Also notice they haven’t really given the opportunity to buy any in the store with seasons coins as much this time around. Not like they had items before.
Genuine question. If I was thinking of spending real money in this game as a first time spender what's the most valuable thing money can buy? I already have the battle pass from grinding Rank and it's my first pass but other than that anything else?
Golden passes and vault passes are by far the greatest value
@skyliner_productions it seems tough to grind the vault pass. I have to spend xp tokens to level 4 characters to max it out. Ik there's no time limit but I do wanna level other characters

yep ... we dont get enough ... but what about the chapter 4...there are 2 ways where you need ortensia04/07 (again) and gaston 04/08 ... to unlock ursula and celia mae rewards... i do have ursula and celia mae, but i do not have ortensia and gafton... that means i can't access those rewards and i am short 12 medals... it's stupid
Your forgetting the shards. You will only max out a character from a season if you spend a lot of money. You will be lucky to get them to 40. You should have plenty enough upgrade coins to get them to 35 or 40
I only just started playing last season i just bought the season pass but I don’t think I will be able to complete it because alot of the challenges and races are for either characters I don’t have or not high enough level to win the race and the tier skips are soo over priced in this game wish I just bought the 15 tier skips straight away 😢

No we didn’t, but we used to be able to get multiple 5 star racers. That’s not possible anymore. If they’re going to associate levels and star levels together, it needs to be easier to obtain

I ran out day 1 and I cba to play anymore because it’s literally so slow to level people up makes me not want to play lol
And, if you have enough shards to 5☆ a character, but you don't upgrade them to level 50...... they still give you shards for that character! So they're still in the universal box pulls! 🙄
I don’t think this is true. For universal box I have a few characters that cannot earn shards anymore (and have a 0% chance of earning via Universal. Box) and they are not level 50 yet, I have yet to upgrade anyone to 50 since I’m frugal with my upgrade coins. But from doing the math, I know I have enough shards for them to get there if I spent the coins. I believe what you’re referring to is the daily box? Or even the free shards given in the shop
@@BoldHammer1616 were they 5☆ before the currency change? Mine that were previously 5☆ regardless of level are no longer in the universal box. However, I have enough shards to star up Meg, for example, to 5☆. But now you need to not only have the shards, but also level the character to 50 to have a 5☆ character. So, since I haven't used the shards to get her to level 50, she's still showing in the universal box.

“This is purely a visual bug related to the logic of the new upgrade system. You cannot actually pull maxed out items from the Universal Box. Should be fixed in an upcoming update.
There are also some logic issues (Duplicate offers for example) with the Daily Specials that should be fixed in a future update as well.”
