As someone who literally has no idea how to build roofs in the sims I’d say you did a fantastic job making it look normal! At first glance I probably wouldn’t even notice the house had such a weird layout LOL
i think i've seen her show something like this on her channel for a "shell" challenge, and it seems really interesting

Loved this challenge. Would love to see you try "every room is the same size", so you have to choose a size of room (like 4x4 for example) and make everything that size. Bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms...

Second time we got 8 x 7…
Bathrooms were fun lol we ended up doing like a fancy sink island thing with a tub, shower, toilet, and like a counter space/vanity separated by half walls

I think the way to tweak this to make it more reasonable would be to decide how many rooms you want, generate the numbers and lay all the boxes out on the lot and then try to fit them together before doing any furnishing.
honestly the way she did it is very fun because you don't know what the house will look like until the very end lmao

That’s what I thought she was gonna do. Get all the boxes out then decide how to arrange them and make a nice house.
The fact that you were still able to roof this and make it look good is insane. I would combust trying to do this.
I would have made that long awkward bedroom a play room, that leads into a kids bedroom. I would have also made that 1x3 room downstairs (cat room) into a mudroom, so there was an entrance to the backyard.
Yeah! Had a similiar idea. I tought of maybe putting an arch between the two long weird rooms- creating a bigger hallway? I think I will try this challenge
OMG I also thought of a mudroom. I was thinking of making the kid's room an extension of the hallway using an arch so it could lead to more bedrooms

Honestly this is most realistic house I've ever seen in the sims. Every house I've ever lived in has had weird dividing walls, skinny weird rooms, strange roofing, and just... odd layouts in general. I love it a lot.
I thought that too! My house makes no sense there's a long skinny bedroom up in the attic next to an octagonal bedroom both with huuuuge long skinny closets, then downstairs on the second floor there's 2 normal decent sized square rooms, a skinny L shaped room with a ling skinny closet, and then a short skinny bedroom but it has the biggest closet in the house 😂 this just really reminds me of that
@@SmallSnailMarie literally, my dorm was add to the house later so i have a f@king window that go to my sister dorm lol. We had to cover it up with paper to have privacy.
That’s what I was saying! Like this house is definitely realistic, I could just imagine that the first floor was the og ranch style house and then they added on a second floor for more bedrooms
idk, but those challenges are SO MUCH FUN to watch!
Love it how she made it "rule" to not change room plan. I would've done it like randomized room sized for every room and then made it puzzle to make an floor plan with them and then choose which room is which
I definitely think a renovation of this would be cool! Also a more evil version of this challenge where once you place and furnish a room you can't change it would be hilarious and painful
id honestly love to see a video of kayla renovating builds she made from challenges, like these where she’s allowed to do whatever she wants

I was hoping the kids room would be a Jack and Jill Bathroom. The laundry in the bathroom and the roofing was pure genius.
I was like yelling at the screen to turn it into a little office nook lol. Would’ve been perfect to add that last room as the kids room.
This was so fun! I’d love to watch a renovation. This house has good bones! Probably needs a second floor expansion?
I also have a different build challenge for you: a legacy build challenge where you get 10 rooms, and each room is based on a different generation of a 10 gen challenge. It could be Not So Berry, since that is popular, so there would be a mint room based on the mint gen’s interests, rose based on rose, etc. But, I’d also love a Potts family build where each room is based on a different heir from the Potts legacy!

For the record I thought the closet in the bathroom idea was brilliant.
Challenge - Each room is a different challenge-challenge.
*Townie, colour, size, budget, pack etc.
1. Decide on what kind of room.
2. Spin the wheel. If you get size you'll have to spin another wheel with various size options. If you get on colour your spin a wheel with various colour options.

Build challenge idea: Since Kayla is starting the Not so Berry challenge what if she made builds based on the gens character not color (like for example mint gens a mischievous scientist)

If she does this, I really hope she takes to the spirit of the challenge and builds in styles she usually doesn’t. The courtyard oasis kit and jungle adventure have some gorgeous mint swatches and I’d love to see a more adobe/Moroccan/South American styled house from her
It honestly looks really normal from the front. I'd love to see a renovation to help the other angles though.

I really like the way her videos are made like it all flows, there's no " HEY GUYS" or "I GONNA START NOW" she just does it and makes conversation and it keeps you interested
for the upstairs hallway issue, i would've made the first 'hallway' into a landing, turned the kid's room into a proper hallway, and had an archway instead of a door connecting them together, i think that would look pretty cool

Thank you for the inspiration, Kayla! I will be doing this challenge myself, with some changes. I think I’ll allow myself to rearrange the rooms how I want, as long as I’m not changing the size. That way, I’m only stuck with their dimensions, not where I place them.
I was thinking like the shell challenges where you generate each room then arrange them together into a Floorplan.
i'm in love with the way the downstairs turned out! so yeah, i'm totally down for a reno of this one!

this kind of chalence really depends on the dice roll.
also I would maybe remove the 1 on the random or add 1 to the top of the random and remove 1 size if its over 3 so that you have less chance to roll 1.
Ironically, the 1x6 could have been a bathroom; a toilet at one end, a sink at the other, and a discover university shower - which you *can* walk through somewhere else in the room. Then you have a long, skinny bathroom.
As could the 1x3. Sink, shower in middle, toilet on otherside - door in to room in front of shower.
I'd love to see a renovation for this build! has so much potential
with those tiny 1x(1-4) rooms, i love turning it into a linen closet with the washing machines, vaccums, clutter- its a good use of space & it feels homey to me

I used to have a bedroom in real life that was totally a 7 by 2 room so it doesn't even seem that weird to me. Italian houses are funky.

Ooo!! You should do another ‘randomise numbers’ challenge but you randomise the number of tiles each room can have? So each time you spin the generator and you have to make a room that’s 7 tiles, or 23 tiles etc ? I feel like that could be a fun challenge!

That long, skinny bedroom reminds me of the rooms in my childhood home. Both me and my brother had these weird long, skinny rooms, that was a HELL to furnish! They were probably the equvilent of 2,5x6.

the house turned out low key nice. i mean yeah some rooms are longer and different looking than rooms builders would usualy put, but i think those rooms made the house look great in some way.

Same idea but maybe generate all the room sizes first, make the boxes, and then stick them together in a way that makes sense (I guess it’d be easier but it’s okay to make a challenge easier for yourself!). Also, I think you could replace the walls with fences/trusses. Technically still a divider but could create open spaces
You're too hard on yourself, the outside looks beautiful, roofing is tough in this game and I think you did a really good job. :)

Similar challenge, but for us less creatively inclined. Write down different room sizes on paper and draw them, that way you don’t get constant repeat weird rooms
This challenge reminded me of a challenge I did a while ago. The challenge was that you have several rooms placed on a lot and with them you have to create a house, but each room has to at least touch 2 Walls of another room. So p.e. you couldn't put an i-shaped room next to each other, because they would only touch 1 wall of the other room. Well in the challenge we just got one i-shaped room to build with.
You could have had an upstairs hallway in the 2x7, with an archway off the landing of the stairwell. I think it would have looked fine. ^^ But I think you did a spectacular job with everything too, better than I could do.

Petition for Simsie to use the random generator (basically what she did in this video) to create her next shell challenge! I think it would be cool especially if everyone had to use the same floorplan?
the amount of strategy and honestly just the roofing could've been a whole challenge on it's own oh my god
you should do a challenge where each room has a restricted number of build buy items (excluding windows and doors) with a random generator deciding the number. BUT, the shell has to be built beforehand and you have to use the exact number of items! so some rooms might be really cluttered and others might be quite empty lol

I got an idea:
You have to make a house and each room contains only items that give off a certain mood, (like the bucket for I think a silver or gold date, and you can make it effect everyone in the rooms mood to be flirty)
Totally hope you renovate this house. It honestly wasn’t that bad. I kind of wish you would’ve use that last 6 x 4 and may be made it in addition to that long kids room. Maybe turn it into a play room or something or you know move things around
I like that the fairly normal and symmetrical front hides a truly chaotic interior 😈

Ooooh do a shell challenge and renovate it that way. You can’t touch the outer walls but you can adjust the inside layout better
While some of those rooms were bizarre... it made for some really cool, creative spaces and shapes. I'd love to see a renovation for this house, with some upgrades to the second floor, leaving the half as one story and other half as two stories high.
Challenge idea. Each room has a different amount of corners. Min 3 max 10. Not including dividing walls or half walls. Rooms can be as big or small as you want, and in any shape. And no "smoothing" walls (ie 3 corner room would be a triangle of some sort, so no walls that make the points blunt on the inside)
I HAVE A CHALLENGE IDEA!!! what is you did each room is a different amount of items - I was thinking a range from 3-100 so you could have a really empty room and a reaaally full one!!!
You should do a randomized room size and randomized room budget with it that could be entertaining
