I learned a great lesson. I went to a sewing class and most everyone had the same brand machine. By mistake someone picked up a few of my things. I mark things w/ name or letters something so I know that they are mine!! I also make sure my bag has something to make it mine. Just thought I would share that.
The theory of the large hem is to add weight to the bottom Soo they hang nicely. It was probably a fabric company that came up with it to sell more fabric.

i bought some new sheers and wanted to know how to add on to them with the same sheer i had bought for the add on. So which do i add to top or bottom . The sheers are 84 inches and i need them to be 120 inches. How do you suggest to do this and what type of add on sewing technique would i use. ty
You will have to unpick either the Hem or the top on both pieces that you want to add together -Press the creases out. You may find that you have a lot more there than you realize.
I have some patterned sheers to lengthen and was thinking of taking the bottom hem out. Since I won't be adding a thin sheer behind them, could I just use the lace hem and stitch witchery on the bottom and not sew them? They're for our sunroom which has 12 windows, so I'd need to do 24 panels. And I'm not a patient seamstress. 🙂
@@TheSewingChannel, thanks! I just checked my measurements. Looks like if I can steal 4" off the bottom, the curtains will be 4" off the floor. I'll be using hooks with clips like you did. Any ideas on how to find another 2" or so? I'm trying hard not to buy 24 more panels! Is there anything to add to the clips to extend them? Or would that look tacky?
You could always check the thrift stores to find some panels to cut up....If you can find something similar then you could add the couple inches you need🤷🏻♀️ Or if you have an "accent fabric" on hand...you can add that for length...✅

Sure I think you could do that...do one and see how it looks first before you do all of them✅

You’re using the seam ripper incorrectly. The ball point goes down, inside the seam you’re ripping out and the pointed part goes up.
