It's also an icon and common imagery in flamenco dancing and spanish rumba dances. Many gypsy communities (gitanos) where flamenco it's said to be invented have a strong relationship with long hair as a power of femininity. It's a great cultural discussion😂 you can check it out
Thank you all for letting me know, and so kindly and respectfully. It's truly fascinating and something I'd never heard about before. I'll be sure to keep that in mind for Melody's future performances.
Absolutely! I didn't know about Melody but based on everything I've seen since she's won Benidormfest I do believe she really deserves to go to Eurovision and showcase her talent to Europe.
Thank you for explaining that to me, I have now found out about the meaning of the helicopter hair (is it called Huracán?). On a side note you're pretty spot on, menos cerveza y más libro is exactly my life- I don't drink alcohol, never have, and I work in a library.
Dont get angry with her😅😅😅 she's a foreigner and she doesnt know that this movement belongs to the Flamenco culture 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 When that girl gets her hair like that, she can also try it. There're lots of people (like her)who want to get audience thanks to Eurovision. Melody is a truly artist in Spain. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

@@X_-oi3bc I appreciate your polite comment 😊 I was just saying she thought the performance itself was funny, apart from the helicopter. I think it is such a complete show. I am not angry with her, it’s with all my love.
THIS. It requires a lot of education, intelligence and maturity to appreciate other cultures without laughing your ass off. Just because you don't understand it doesn't give you the right to disrespect it. What a bunch of ignorance, really...
@ I think that, just like Finland that year, my country has decided to send a rejected Swedish song full of flashy moves and tricks to appeal to the general public. But in the end, it will only lead to irrelevance in Eurovision…
Thank you for the detailed explanation. That could be the case and based on the information we have so far I can't see Esa Diva getting onto the left hand side of the scoreboard, but it'll probably be a fairly beloved entry amongst Eurofans and an entertaining performance for the general public.
I didn't mean it in a negative way necessarily- not bad yelly. She just seemed to be really passionate about her performance and hence singing louder than you might need to for the type of microphone. That was my impression anyway- please do let me know if I am wrong.
what she does with her hair, is the helicopter. In all her concerts, she has been doing it for 25 years. That's why she does that. ❤❤

This is typical in gypsies women dancing flamenco. Rosalia has done it some times for example, even though she is not gypsy of course.

Thank you for explaining. I have read up on that now and definately understand it significantly better than I did initially.
I don’t understand what makes you think that performance was funny. She is an artist. Only the helicopter, but that is part of flamenco.

Melody..Esa Diva ( Poderosa ) ❤❤🎉
Extremely powerful!
Do you remember Sara Aalto? I think its the same case
As in Eurovision fans love it, the general audience doesn't get it? Or something else?
